One of my pet hates is people is confusing history with memory.

She wasn't around at the Battle of Hastings, either, but she's bloody aware of it.

Melissamelisante · 13/10/2023 11:39

So she never looks into the area she is representing. Remind me again, what is her profession? Academic you say?

Melissamelisante · 13/10/2023 11:39

No awareness of LGBT history and background???? Unbelievable.

CriticalCondition · 13/10/2023 11:39

BC - one of aspects of queer culture in 90s was men in dresses and that was what Julian Vigo was referring to, that time, that hotbed of queerness, wasn't it?
LD - I wasn't around in the 90s

LarkLane · 13/10/2023 11:40

Exactly ickky I had messages to my MN account one night back in 2018 with similar threat. It was such a shock I went out and bought some pearls to clutch.
I left and registered several times since. I've still got the copy.

She really is a blatant liar on this imo.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 11:40

Didn't she say she used to be a gender studies student at some point? Surely that history would be covered.

Gosh, that would be useful when answering exam questions on history.

Is she trying to be cute now??

With her 'all these bundles are confusing me..'

Yes I think she knows she is not coming across well and she's trying to get BC to be softer on her

I think these organisations need to start appointing more well rounded people in these EDI roles.

Yes, she's ONLY about the T. It's a conflict of interest, surely?

Also I don't believe she's never seen the abusive tweets towards GC people, particularly lesbians - if she hasn't she's a crap academic. Knowing the public discourse about your subject should be a basic requirement of the job.

ickky · 13/10/2023 11:43

I really hope Ben brings up all these inconsistences in closing submissions. It is just not believable that they know nothing about trans history etc.

OP posts:
Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 11:43

Here she's discussing why other people "crossed the line". It will be interesting if BC asks her to explain why her own Twitter activity vis a vis the launch of the GCRN did not. I assume he will.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 11:44

LD has made complaints about a podcast that she didn't listen to and didn't understand (including because she wasn't part of the 90s scene).

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 11:45

How dare LD say there was lots of work done to make workplace better for LGBT staff and students. Just t, actually.

MrsDoylesCake · 13/10/2023 11:45

Trans history is transphobic?

chilling19 · 13/10/2023 11:46

What a tittle tattle - her bosses must have wanted to sink into the floor every time she ran to them with hurty feelz

Chrysanthemum5 · 13/10/2023 11:46

But in LD's mind the T is most marginalised so they need all the focus. Not saying that's true but it's clearly her though process

ickky · 13/10/2023 11:47

Ben's voice seems to have warmed up a bit, hope he is feeling a bit better.

It could be a lie but these people do use extensive block lists on places like Twitter. Sometimes 50 -100k upwards accounts blocked so their 'circle' is very finely curated.

Mmmnotsure · 13/10/2023 11:49

Hmm.
Ben says some people on GC side are as offensive as some on GI side. Really, Ben? Where are the rape and murder threats and the eg punching of older GI people?

MrsDoylesCake · 13/10/2023 11:49

How the hell did LD find the time to do the work required to become a Dr? As far as I can tell they spent the majority of working hours complaining

CriticalCondition · 13/10/2023 11:51

LD - a gender critical research group is legitimate but calling it gender critical is provocative

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2023 11:51

We know that. That's not the point though here, he's just avoiding an argument with her. It's more important to make the point about her generalising.

LD's obviously working on inventing a new area of study.

Complainology

pronounsbundlebundle · 13/10/2023 11:51

LD doesn't want other people to be able to use their own words. Not nice at all.
