There is very little information to go on in the report linked. It's also a very well known fact that descriptions are very difficult to give. A 5ft 10 woman wouldn't be so unusual - I doubt I would be able to say whether someone was 5ft 10 or 6ft 3.

Sex can be related to gender though and many people appreciate that simplicity. You cannot always reliably judge someones sex by looking at a person as though. I've met more cis women who I thought where Trans than the other way around

I wouldn't have any trouble if they were in close proximity to me. A person who is 1 foot taller than me (and I know how much a foot is) will be 6 foot 3. A person who is 6 inches taller than me will be 5 foot 9.

2 perps, one described as 5ft 10 other as 6ft 3. Most people could reasonably estimate 5 inches different between people so if taller was 5ft 10 that reduces the 2nd to 5ft 5. The majority of 15 year old boys will be taller than this so it's not an understandable error in these circumstances. The heights won't be significantly out

There is always the possibility it could be a Trans and Cis woman one as the main offender, another an accomplice. Honestly 2 Trans women in such a small area is already very unlikely.

It is entirely possible that the offenders have met specifically to offend. One is reported to have an accent from hundreds of miles from the site of the offence.

Most 15 year old boys are 5ft 9 +. I'm sure he victim could tell whether his assailants were taller than him.

I wonder what the goal is here? By the police not accurately reporting pertinent details about the perpetrators, how can the public actually help? Or stay away from the possible perps.

I think there’s a push towards blurring the lines between male and female crimes. Then the need for single sex spaces is no longer necessary as women are as violent and dangerous as men.

People carry accents that's not really proof of anything haha. I have a midlands accent and live in Yorkshire. I don't know a single one of my friends who has a Yorkshire accent

Well, what we do know from the report is that the 15 year old was in a very stressful situation, and not just standing there. It's a fact that different people will give a very different witness description of the same person. In a moving, stressful situation, I doubt I would have much awareness of how much taller someone is of me that clearly.

And if someone has reported a crime as being females, do you expect it to be reported as "posing as female.." when there is no actual evidence that they are posing as female? That's what I'm reading in this thread.

How do you know they're not reporting pertinent details? You can guess they aren't, but you don't actually know.

Interestingly, my previous manager is a 6ft 3 female with bright red hair. I wonder what she was doing that day...

Definitely. I can't imagine how scary it must have been. It's not in an area renowned for these kind of offences as well.

In terms of eye witness accounts I can speak from experience just 3 days ago I was trading on facebook marketplace and someone bolted with the item I had. Some 17 year old it turned out but I found linked accounts on facebook and identified the wrong kids mother which obviously she was horrified about. I could not for the life of me tell you his height only his age and gender

The day the word cis is counted as an actual slur I can stop using it. It's useful semantics to distinguish Trans from Cis otherwise it gets confusing. I would normally use just the word "Woman" for a Cisgender women because it makes more sense after all.
