I had never heard of MK prior to seeing this video. I’m also left wing politically, but I think she nailed it. I wish I could argue my case as fluently, to be honest.

She may well have other views that I find repellent; it doesn’t mean I can’t agree with her on this.

Furthermore, I am not a gender ideologue by any definition. I don’t use they/them and I do not believe one can change one’s biological sex. I also do not believe men should compete in women’s sports.

However, I personally find kelly (and her ilk) vile and odious for their general hate-mongering, and gleeful attempts to add fuel to the current inflammatory political climate in the US. There is no legitimacy to the 6 jan insurrection-minimizing kelly and other right wing extremist push, and it is dangerous to try to minimize such an event. As for her bigotry/racism, google it.

Lastly, I will happily retract ‘bible thumper’ and replace it with ‘an aggressively zealous advocate of christian fundamentalism’, if that suits.

Hi lucky you obviously know your stuff and thank you for pointing out that Megyn is all of the above - I only thought she was a bit glam tv show host - obv I need to do more research - though I still think she explains things well - and suitably sentimentally (it’s tv after all).
Please could you post any links you’ve found to stuff that could help explain in a less inflammatory way?

Thank you for pointing out that I was being inflammatory, I should not have been and I do apologize. The woman makes me see red, especially since her declaration ‘ the scotus nailed it’ when they overturned abortion rights, and ‘abortion rights should not be part of the feminist platform’.

I watched it. I feel strongly that if someone tells me not to watch or read something then I should. I will use JKR as my example why we should look it up for ourselves not rely on what others say.

I think the video was a brilliant explanation of how someone can move from "be kind" to understanding. It made the point well with clear examples and no unnecessary waffle.

The video makes no reference to her other beliefs and opinions so as a stand alone I do agree it's a good starting point to explain why preferred pronouns are such a problem. As many people have already said: we can agree with some on one point and grossly disagree on most others.

I wasn’t going to bother listening. As pp say, there is too much stuff to listen to everything. But the determination of posters that I should not listen means I feel should now dedicate the time to doing so.

I only know MK from this particular video, which I saw a while back, and the segment where she interviewed the14 year old poet. I don't know anything else about her.

However, since she is speaking about it, I did make an assumption that she was of the right because I have yet to see anyone from the Democratic side be so fiercely frank about the topic.

I would love to hear Democratic women with huge platforms talk about the impact of gender ideology on women. Please point me their way.

I happen to agree with JK Rowling and find the attempts to ‘cancel’ her appalling. And, at least in my case, my refusal to listen to people such as kelly is due to having listened to them enough to realize they are not worth listening to.

i do find it curious that posters who dislike shills for conservative propaganda, like kelly, are accused of attempting to keep people from listening. i have not read one post which stated ‘do not listen to her’. In fact, the gist is ‘i don’t listen to her’. ‘I don’t’ in no way implies ‘you can’t’.

What’s interesting is that I posted this as a, I thought, clear explanation of why pronouns are dangerous. I intended it to helpfully inform mothers who are blind to the stealth indoctrination towards medicalisation of their kids. And yes, that means yours too.

yet here we mostly are in an emotive discussion as to her background and other beliefs, and this means we should dismiss her. The message I’d like you to hear, and spread, is lost, while we all argue. I believe it’s a tactic used forever - that if we are kept angryand emotional, we will miss seeing what is actually going on.
I am very concerned that this means anyone who has, at any time, held a view that doesn’t align in everything we agree with, is not to be listened to.
To my mind that means we are in trouble. To my mind that means we are not allowing people to review their beliefs based in newly acquired knowledge, and if they hold a view about something, anything, we disagree with - we will argue amongst ourselves and their message is lost.
I think, right or left, whatever you believe re gender, we are all being duped.

Go back to page 1 of the thread and read it - people being thoroughly discredited for even thinking about listening to her.
