I wonder how long before someone says 'I watched so you don't have to'. That used to happen with anything Magdalene Berns or JKR said all the time. Never trust anyone who says they'll watch anything on your behalf.

Like Piers Morgan, Lawrence Fox, Tucker Carlson.... You've very much got to ask yourself if you're on the right side if you find yourself agreeing with them.

I think it’s a good sign if you’re on the side that is against the sterilisation, mutilation, medicalisation and gas lighting of children
and young people.

JaukiVexnoydi · 03/07/2023 23:46

Gender ideology is sexism pure and simple, but you can hear the hatred in every syllable this woman speaks and you can hear that she would have every bit as much disdain and hatred for a butch lesbian or effeminate gay man living their lives free from gender ideology as she does in this diatribe against trans people. She's a right-wing illiberal pro-oppressionist, no ally to feminism.

PermanentTemporary · 03/07/2023 23:46

Megyn Kelly who said blacking up is ok and Jesus was a white man? Stuff like that?

Excuse me for not wanting to spend time being bored to death by her. Possibly I do share occasional thoughts with her but that doesn't mean I have to listen to her banging on.

LiOLeary · 03/07/2023 23:47

Can we keep this bullshit to the Gender Critical board please?

MumblesParty · 03/07/2023 23:48

I don’t know what she’s said in the past, but in that film she’s talking sense. What are the things she’s saying in that film that people on here disagree with?

Why?

MavisMcMinty · 03/07/2023 23:51

I'd rather suck sick through a sock

Much as I like the alliteration, surely sucking sick through a sock would filter out all the retchworthy lumps and make it marginally more tolerable than simply drinking a cup of it?

Idk maybe the blatant homophobic opening lines about her being 'subjected' to pride

PermanentTemporary · 04/07/2023 00:10

Now that you know what she's said in the past, maybe take your thread down.

oatleytap · 04/07/2023 00:10

Agree or disagree with the general point, I don't understand why people get their knickers in a knot over any of these absurd TV personalities who build a personal brand by adopting grossly over-simplified polarised debate. You're just giving them exactly what they want; lovely monetisable anger and attention.

Ka-ching for them, but for you precious minutes of your life you won't get back that you could have spent with your loved ones.

Speaking of which, typing this out was also a waste of 2 minutes of my life - time for me to f off take my own advice

IHateLegDay · 04/07/2023 00:14

A dog will get more information from sniffing another dog's arse than you could ever get from listening to Megyn Kelly.

Toseland · 04/07/2023 00:19

LOL this thread, are you all blokes? I watched this lady recently and she was spot on! An example of someone who has listened and understood.

I took that to mean the hype. A bit like being subjected to Christmas.

MrKenTuckey · 04/07/2023 00:32

Don’t know who she is but I agree with her.

Stompythedinosaur · 04/07/2023 00:45

Iforgotmyusernameagainandagain · 03/07/2023 23:33

I also thought she spoke eloquently on this issue. I note all the early comments basically saying 'DON'T LISTEN! DON'T LISTEN!'. I think we're past that now. There are women (and men) on the left and right wing, as well as the middle ground and floating voters who are concerned about this. There are gay people, straight people and trans people. We're all concerned and this may be all we have in common. I certainly won't exclude anyone from this fight because I disagree with their politics.

I didn't tell anyone not to listen.

But her blatant homophobia is not something I'm willing to ignore, and I reserve the right to think less of people who are ok with it.

CrazyArmadilloLady · 04/07/2023 01:06

I’ve never heard of her, which is clearly surprising, given I have been following the TRAliban debate for years and years now.

That was a really uncomfortable opener. I mean, way to lose people from the off.

But I persevered.

She goes on to say that for years, she welcomed TW into women’s spaces, because ‘what harm?’ She used their preferred pronouns. She #waskind.

But then she had her eyes opened, like so many of us. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hitler probably thought the sky was blue and the earth was flat. I think the sky is blue and the earth is flat. If I agree with him on some stuff, even though I find him abhorrent, does that make me a literal Nazi……..?

Because if so, that explains the level of critical thinking clearly at play, and why so many people are falling for the shit show that is gender ideology.

marewindham · 04/07/2023 01:10

This is a classic example of what I mentioned recently in site stuff (and got roundly attacked for): people pushing right wing/white supremacist ideology onto us and trying to make us like far right wingers on the grounds that they "know what a woman is".

Megyn Kelly has repeatedly made racist and white supremacist comments (her show in America actually got cancelled over her doing a segment in support of blackface); she regularly speaks out against what she considers the wave of Muslim immigrants in Europe while also claiming to be pro-immigration in the US; she approved an on-air caption referring to Michelle Obama as "Obama's babymomma" and got angry when staffers complained that it was racist and overruled it; she' been accused of racism and creating a culture of systemic racism by her own staffers; dismissed and victim-blamed black victims of police brutality and black people murdered by police; she's referred to African-American culture as "thug-like" and claimed that Michelle Obama leads African American people in "playing the victim"; said that black people murdered by police are to blame for their own murder because they should have just been compliant and not argued (when some black people have been murdered by police while asleep in their own beds, and since when do we give people the death penalty for being argumentative?); said that leaked racist emails from police forces aren't a big deal because "you won't find many companies in America without racist emails", and she's publicly praised and supported Trump while leaked private conversations show that she's anti-Trump.

Of course this is Mumsnet and the threads about black people being murdered by police or black people being hunted down and lynched by thugs are full of comments implying they deserved it and comments trashing the victims (the George Floyd threads and Ahmaud Arbery threads here were disgusting), I bet there are plenty of posters who will howl in outrage at the suggestion that referring to Michelle Obama as "babymomma" isn't racist, who will defend blackface, who will agree with her that Muslims are infesting Europe, because it happens every single time anything to do with race is mentioned.

She's on record as saying that she's not a feminist, she doesn't believe in things like gender quotas or affirmative action requiring companies to hire women, she's mocked the idea of universities have policies on sexual consent and gone on record as saying that student sexual consent policies are "anti-men", she's said she thinks conversation around the idea that there's a gender pay gap are "infantilising", and her book defends sexism as being generational while speaking out against sexism that she personally has experienced.

Oh and she said that people can be turned gay by watching Will and Grace.

Someone in site stuff said (paraphrased) "you must think the women of Mumsnet are not very intelligent if they can't see that people are exploiting GC feminism to try to coerce women into far right" - guess this thread is our chance to find out!

Stop pushing right wing ideology on the grounds that racists hate trans people so that means they're okay and we should listen to them.

If i was trying to convince someone that the sky was blue, I wouldn't fucking use Hitler as my reference.

LuckyPeonies · 04/07/2023 01:16

@Iforgotmyusernameagainandagain No, I would not. I refuse to listen to extremists on either side.

@AlisonDonut She is a bigot, a bible thumper, a racist, she minimized the 6 jan insurrection, she is a conspiracy theorist, she gave a platform to even more vile alex jones, I could go on and on. If you google her you will find all you need to know to detest her. That is, if you disagree with with her brand of rightwing christian ideology.
