Pronouns sound innocent, but the teacher socially transitioned my daughter before she was ready, or wanted to. He looked cool, she went through a lot of unnecessary stress.
she didn’t feel she could back down.
she did a lot of research online to try and convince herself she should have the pronouns and keep to her new name. Everywhere she went there was,’be inclusive! Trans is cool! Be kind!’ And the utterly dystopian,‘some people are born as the wrong gender.’

she found out that questioning whether she was trans meant she was transphobic - she had to try harder to be more trans.

if you try really hard ( not very hard at all) to be trans, you can buy testosterone online from a well known chain store, for 18 quid a week, delivered next day. and no, you don’t need years of counseling, you need 18 quid. And yes, this could be your teen. Quite easily.

and if you’re still not trans enough you can dream of being like the other cool trendy you tubers who have top surgery. It’s a double mastectomy - the same thing that Angelina Jolie shocked people by having, to prevent getting cancer and now it’s being touted as nothing more than cosmetic. Like getting your teeth whitened.

so no, using pronouns isn’t a simple thing of being polite. Please don’t do it to your child. Or let the school do it either for that matter.

I would first check who had said something to know if I was allowed to agree or not.

I'm so sorry about your DD. Your whole family must have been through hell - are probably still going through it because all of these "transitions" have repercussions, mental, emotional and physical which often persist for years.

I hope she is happier in herself now, however she has chosen to live her life. This is not something that should be pushed - it is too serious and too long-lasting.

As others have said - it is a mental health issue; one which has developed into a social contagion which is destroying children.

What part of listening to someone's video and agreeing with one thing and disagreeing with other things means that we are pushing their agendas? particularly since we have not actually had any rational discussion at all about this video on this thread.

Well, while we are all arguing about right and left, the simple thing is that I wanted to post this on normal AIBU. Not to create an exciting argument becathats pointless, and no one wins. But to draw attention to what’s happening to teens at the moment.
I have heard several teens and school leavers say that their school turned into a bullying culture - if you have the opinion that you can wear what you like, but there are two biological sexes.

All this energy and discussion and emotion is very clever. Whether you believe in genders replacing biological sex or not, while we are getting lost in emotion, our confused teens are being fed into a vast medical experiment. There has been some discussion amongst surgeons that they are learning - there’s never been such an upsurge in this type of cosmetic surgery or steroid uptake in young teens before.
Its also worth remembering that each person who medically transitions has to keep buying a drug for life, and have multiple surgeries. Oh and apparently makes about 1.3 million dollars profit for the big pharmaceutical companies.

there are 48.5 000 people on the Detrans subreddit. A quick random scroll of the posts will break your heart.
And again I say, please don’t let this happen to your teen - having multiple genders, well why not. Operating, drugs and irreversible damage, well they will have a lot to deal,with, mentally if nothing else. Side effects? , probably in 7-10 years - a friends daughter 7 years on now has walking aides and joint pain at 27.
