If anyone is a member of the Oxford Union it says her talk is at 5pm tomorrow.

Is anyone from FWR going?

Any idea how we can contact Kathleen Stock to offer support? Other than social media....?

She probably has a press agent of something

IwantToRetire · 31/05/2023 20:10

mostly because she ended up with a criminal record

I can think of a number of campaigns where similar situations have resulted in young women being the sacrificial lambs.

And too often they accepted the pressure to do something extreme just because they felt the need to prove that they were real rebels.

The worst scenario was three young women were being encourage to run out in front of the horses on the way to trooping the colours. ie not just facing arrest but facing the real possibility of harm (and upsetting the horses!).

So many of us said dont do this, you can support the (unnamed) cause in other ways.

They did pull out but after that felt they couldn't get invovled in other politics.

Not because they realised they were being manipulated but because they felt they would never be taken as being seriously in political circles. Most of which were ego trips for self important young men who just knew they were the leaders that everyone was waiting for.

Well her latest project when not being stonewalled by TRAs is the Lesbian Project https://www.thelesbianproject.co.uk/people

All BB has done is shown us that his subconscious draws a connection between straight sex and proper sex.

Quite.

ApocalipstickNow · 31/05/2023 20:33

Well the laws of sexuality don’t apply to him do they?

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/05/2023 21:08

What I'd love is if these women were here. It'd be great to shake their cyberhands.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2023 22:13

What a great article from Janice.

MerlinsLostMarbles · 31/05/2023 22:32

Can we talk about how Stock is sitting? If a man sat like that you'd all be crying "manspreading".

Igneococcus · 31/05/2023 22:35

That is really quite desperate stuff @MerlinsLostMarbles

is that really the best you've got?

Hawkins0001 · 31/05/2023 22:39

At the Oxford Union talks, can the public attend or are they for Oxford's only?

What? In her own chair? You really have no idea on anything, do you?

You grab whatever you think will be a clever gotcha from twitter and race over to fling it onto a thread. By now it really must be for the humiliation. You simply can not post with a positive intention to engage or contribute.

You do know that this term refers to taking space from those seated next to you, ie on public transport?

Why would that be relevant to a single seat armchair, regardless of the sex of the occupant?

WTF is an ‘Oxford’? I’m presuming you don’t mean a lace up shoe?

Perhaps you can find an answer to your nonsensical question on their website @Hawkins0001?

Oh for goodness sake Merlin is that the sound of a barrel being scraped ? Are you really coming on here and telling women that a woman , relaxed in her own chair, is “MAN spreading “ ??? Manspreading is when a man deliberately takes up more than his share of a shared seat, not what people of either sex do in a chair of their own.
How utterly ridiculous.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 31/05/2023 22:53

And the engagement. Perhaps they are lonely.

Perhaps. They would have to be a sadist though for this kind of attention surely?

PermanentTemporary · 31/05/2023 22:56

Interesting @MerlinsLostMarbles - I read some 70s pro-gender book by Desmond Morris in the early 80s, and I remember it saying that men always sat that way, while women sat with their knees together because [cue "evolutionary biology" sexist bullshit] whereas it seemed more like to me that men wore trousers so wouldn't be flashing their genitals like that, and were overwhelmingly encouraged to take up all the space they could. So I decided to sit that way to show that women could sit that way and be comfortable, without doing it as some power/space dominance thing if it affected other people. So maybe Prof Stock had a similar train of thought, or maybe she just likes sitting that way. What about you?

Pray tell, when Cambridge allow the public to their speaking events, how is it "nonsensical"
