If anyone is a member of the Oxford Union it says her talk is at 5pm tomorrow.

Is anyone from FWR going?

I'm not going, nowhere near Oxford, but I have only just now learnt that Oxford Union is a private members' club and you don't have to be an Oxford uni student to join it. So any Oxfordians out there?

Rishi Sunak is supporting KS's appearance there this evening on the grounds of freedom of speech.

Yes, he's not had the balls to support her position but by getting involved even under the guise of 'allow free speech ' it not only shines light on the issue but will be viewed as support for the GC position

BluebellBlueballs · 30/05/2023 12:42

Is it just me or does anyone else have a sense that this could be a watershed moment for GC feminists. All the main press have picked up on this issue today, particularly with Sunak giving his views in support of free speech. I think Sunak is more on our side, but can't say it (yet).

KS has rightfully said its not hateful to say males can become women and many people will be nodding their head to this. This could peak the nation!

BettyFilous · 30/05/2023 12:54

You could be right @BluebellBlueballs . This could be a watershed moment. The way Kathleen Stock was hounded out of her job, the awful behaviour of UCU, the incessant misrepresentation of her perfectly moderate views in the media - all of it will pique the British public’s instinct for fair play. Brits don’t like being told what to say, think and do and they will see who has been treated unjustly in this case.

If you’re reading Prof Stock, power to your elbow & I hope all goes well tonight. You are so calm and reasonable, I don’t know how you put up with the bad faith nonsense without losing your rag.

BluebellBlueballs · 30/05/2023 13:10

I just hope the bloody police do their job and dint allow the TRAs to block access to the building. They managed to let the royals walk about without getting mobbed so I'm sure they can do the same for KS. It is surely a criminal offence to block access to a private building?

Even if they do block access, it will just illustrate exactly what Prof Stock is saying. It would be an own goal.

BluebellBlueballs · 30/05/2023 13:51

The telegraph is doing a live feed. Well it's certainly getting us loads of sunlight!

WallaceinAnderland · 30/05/2023 14:05

Oxford University LGBTQ have tweeted their schedule for their Trans Pride march:

On Tuesday, @OULGBTQ will be hosting the first ever Oxford Trans Pride! The day will include a series of panels at Lincoln College, followed by a march beginning in Bonn Square - trans joy and solidarity to all attending!

That’s hilarious. You really can’t parody them, can you?

I am hoping they try and block access and carry out their usual nonsense. It’s become such a big deal now, I’d be interested to see how that press would report it.

jeaux90 · 30/05/2023 15:12

I was just looking to find out whether it will be live streamed. Is there a link for the Telegraph? Was going to see if the Society had a YouTube channel.

Vebrithien · 30/05/2023 15:21

I'm a member, but am sadly too far away to make it back.

It's a beautiful day.

Plenty of sunshine.

BluebellBlueballs · 30/05/2023 15:32

Shame, we could have crowdfunded you a hotel room!

xabia · 30/05/2023 15:42

The more daylight the TRAs give this the better! A massive own goal now being covered by all the media.

Hahahaha!! They never learn.

It's about time the entire country see what women are up against.

so, another chapter from the "how to make enemies and influence no one" playbook then. these people must have shit for brains if they think this kind of behaviour is anything other than repellant.

TonTonMacoute · 30/05/2023 16:08

Not a member and can’t go anyway, but I will be sending the Prof all the positive vibes I can.

Good luck Kathleen!

(Why trans activists think this mob persecution of an individual woman is a good look is totally beyond me)

lanadelgrey · 30/05/2023 16:10

OU is on a narrow street. But it does have a rather nice garden surrounded by a tall brick wall as well as high Victorian art inside which I’m sure speakers enjoy before doing their thing.
Unless Thames Valley don’t want her to speak, they should be able to manage any protest. Attempting to egg Tory politicians was more the sort of thing I remember happening when I worked nearby.

Zodfa · 30/05/2023 16:13

How come they've got all this trans joy and gender euphoria and other wonderful happy things in their lives and are still in danger of killing themselves over using the correct bathrooms for their sex?

SirVixofVixHall · 30/05/2023 16:15

BluebellBlueballs · 30/05/2023 15:32

I would happily donate to this.

SirChenjins · 30/05/2023 16:15

Is there a live stream of this? I can’t attend - too far away - but would like to show that I am 100% behind Stock.

StephanieSuperpowers · 30/05/2023 16:25

Good old Trans Joy gets around a fair bit, doesn't he? Unfortunately, he attaches himself to some pretty miserable people.

IwantToRetire · 30/05/2023 16:34

Oxford Union seems to have a live stream page on YouTube - not sure if it means it will be live tonight or published later (unless a TRA complains to YouTube and they get banned like LWS!)

Wonder if the timing of this was accidental or planned for this week!

NC for this one. I could also go and would love to but am many hundreds of miles away.

I actually feel ashamed to be an Oxford graduate right now. In my day (decades ago) you had to be capable of independent thought and of constructing a good argument to be accepted. Some of the undergrads there today seem half witted, from what I have gleaned over SM.
