This was in a Colorado - Utah race a couple of days ago. Apologies if there's already a thread. I didn't see one.

Interestingly, this was in the race for cyclists aged 40-49. I wonder if older athletes are less likely to stand for this nonsense. Anyway, good for them. I hope this spreads to younger cyclists and other sports.

Cyclists No Show Post-Race Podium After Biological Male Finishes 1st In Female Race

Trans cyclist Lesley Mumford proudly posted an Instagram photo standing atop the first-place podium. But he was all alone.

This is an excellent way to protest. Hopefully it will become the way to do it 🤞🤞 I've seen suggestions that people should take the knee but this is fair more powerful IMO.

It means the women can still race as it would be so sad, yet completely understandable, if more continue to quit. By doing it this way, they leave no doubt about who really won. Also, it shows a solidarity for the missing "4th" (3rd really) position rider, who was missing from the podium by being unfairly bumped.

It'd be great to see it happen on a televised event. The commentators would have to tread carefully (for the sake of their own careers) but it'd make for interesting viewing.

It's something. But really women need to refuse to compete. This will not change until organizations are forced to it.

He set a new record for the women's race. That really burns too. It's got to be erased. I'm heartened that the women didn't play along and looking guard to seeing more empty podiums.

The utter narcissism of a man who shows no shame about even doing this is quite astounding.

I just showed my husband the picture and asked him what the story behind it was. He guessed the right sport, ‘it’s always cycling’, why no one else was on the podium and then commented that he wasn’t even trying, ‘There isn’t even a head tilt’.

"The event has a non-binary category, but Mumford chose to enter as a woman instead."

Says it all really.

Yes; what is says is utter disrespect, bolstered by pure narcissitic entitlement.

There must of been a good chance he would lose.

Older age groups have less to lose. Younger women who refuse to go along with this nonsense are risking their future in the sport, after dedicating a great deal of time to it.

There’s a reason why we middle aged women inspire such vitriol, it’s because we’re better placed to say no, and more inclined to do so after years of BS.

I hope other female athletes in this situation take the same approach.

Well, it looks like it wasn't a protest at all IF the male is to be believed.

Men should never ever be allowed to compete in female sport, amateur or professional.

My DD runs in XC and athletics, she can never beat a top male runner, physiology dictates that and it doesn't change because Adam says he is Angela.

He should be placed in the Trans category.

Lesley couldn’t be less self aware, could he? He really has no idea.

Very powerful move, to leave the other places empty. Well done to those female cyclists!

I think that it was probably politic for the lady who won to say that she didn't know. She'd get banned, monstered on Twitter and hounded out of her job if she'd have said,

"I'm not standing next to that cheating manbaby to help him pretend that he's the greatest."

Me too. If the other women don’t play along these cheats are deprived of their “just one of the girls” validation/photo op.
