This was in a Colorado - Utah race a couple of days ago. Apologies if there's already a thread. I didn't see one.

Interestingly, this was in the race for cyclists aged 40-49. I wonder if older athletes are less likely to stand for this nonsense. Anyway, good for them. I hope this spreads to younger cyclists and other sports.

Cyclists No Show Post-Race Podium After Biological Male Finishes 1st In Female Race

Trans cyclist Lesley Mumford proudly posted an Instagram photo standing atop the first-place podium. But he was all alone.

The sports authorities have always known that including TW in women’s sports is wrong IMO, but also know that women have generally been conditioned to be kind and women are too frightened of the vitriol they will incur to complain. This is unlike the aggressive and vocal TRAs who target anyone showing concerns over women’s sports, including at a granular level within organisations. It’s always been about reputation management (and to the devil with women, who cares) not about “the science”. Now those authorities see that their reputations are starting to be damaged by including TW. So they are starting to change tack. “The science” is just useful evidence to defend against TRA attack) - it’s about PR.

One of the conundrums about this age is how hermetically sealed and impervious the activist-inspired policy seemed to be, yet how fragile it actually is once dialog and argument won out.

Like a sphere that appears to be an indestructible cannonball, but when it slips and falls onto the ground, it smashes into smithereens like the most fragile of glass bowls.

BezMills · 28/05/2023 11:47

In gaming we have the concept of the glass cannon. Something that can output a lot of damage downrange, but can't withstand much return fire.

Nope you're clearly not going to listen why would I waste my time? I'm happy being right you can choose not to look into it.

So in fact (as is always the case) you have nothing. Just assertions that you are telling the truth?

And we will believe you as soon as you post links to what you say.

While I'm here, can you answer
What is a woman
What is a man

Ta thanks

Here is another one for MN.

I find it so offensive to hear men referred to on the news, supposedly a factual broadcast, using female pronouns.

To me it just shows how little worth women have in the modern world when broadcasters are willing to put us down like this, to pretend that womanhood is nothing more than a costume.

We can’t identify into winning cycle races against men, I don’t see why men should be allowed to identify into winning races and prizes intended for women.

Yes we know that you are faster and stronger than us, what does it say about you that you enjoy rubbing our noses in it?

ChateauMargaux · 28/05/2023 17:57

I find it offensive that we are hearing more from the one male who is affected by this ruling and not the hundreds of women who will benefit from it. This story should be about women .. not any men giving their opinion on who this will impact and how..

PomegranateOfPersephone · 28/05/2023 18:51

@ChateauMargaux absolutely! I wonder though how many of those women who will benefit from it genuinely feel free to speak publicly about their feelings on this and how it will impact them.

Sorry

Why was the presenter allowed to lie about the science not being settled?

Helleofabore · 01/06/2023 08:16

Oh here you are @MN164 !

Another thread where cyclists are discussing trying to get their view that males should not compete in female categories. I am sure most will be women.

A great place to ask your question!! No?

British cycling: the forums frong | Mumsnet

Well, I've been working my way through cycling forums, trying to get the gender critical point of view across. My record so far: banned/censored/banne...

Helleofabore · 02/06/2023 06:25

And here is the twitter feedback of Strava cycling users because Bridges has now set the female cycling Strava leadership.

https://twitter.com/ithompsonfdn/status/1664299252284280833?s=46&t=HTxp6zC_d4GZ2FFv4a-YeQ

I haven’t checked but it seems that it was done since the announcement from British Cycling.

There are female cyclists there who are telling the Strava that they are not happy about this. I am not sure though what an app can do about this, to be honest. It was left to these male cyclists to respect the needs of the female users and be honest about their sex. The two top female cyclists for that ‘event’ are male.

Anyway, the twitter thread is there for anyone who might believe that the posters on this thread might be projecting our opinions onto others and that our opinions are not the same as women and girls competing in sports allowing males to compete in female categories.

It's a far simpler problem than any other preventing of cheating they have to do, and apparently do do. It's not like they've got a limited chance to catch them in the act of being male.

ChateauMargaux · 02/06/2023 14:51

Just another space, designed for men, by men, women permitted but only on their terms.. and if we don't like it - we can 'vote with our feet and go somewhere else'.. but while power and money are in the hands of men and men are designing our products, our technology and controlling finance, we continue to build a world that is not designed with the needs of women in mind.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 02/06/2023 16:01

Except we can't vote with our feet can we? Because can you imagine the outcry if someone set up a female only equivalent, or even just a female-only filter to apply on top of the Strava page? The social media pile ons. The malicious fake accounts to screw up results. The pressure on hosting companies and payment gateways to drop them.

We already know what happens in the real world when women try and set up new woman-only sex-based alternatives.

ChateauMargaux · 02/06/2023 17:22

Exactly... we are not actually free to vote with our feet...

So, absolutely fuck all to back up your stance then maggoth.

I take it that you were speaking rubbish, you knew you were speaking rubbish and you simply could not defend your harmful views.

I would laugh at your ‘I know I am right’ attitude, except you attempted to spread so much misinformation on this thread it is concerning.

Helleofabore · 06/06/2023 08:37

Just adding this here for @MN164 . I mean these accounts from women within the sport are out there. There is more every week.

This is Paula who was on the team with Thomas. The chilling effect of the way UPenn shut down any adverse opinion is very clear. I will keep on amplifying these women’s voices whenever I can because they are brave women.

But hey, maybe there are still some people who doubt that the majority of women on the women’s teams feel unhappy about it and feel they cannot speak out or don’t have enough information to take an informed decision.

BezMills · 06/06/2023 09:20

well done @Helleofabore I think you've more than answered the totally honest inquiries of @MN164 and they'll be along any day now to thank you for it.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 06/06/2023 09:35

That's a really good interview.

maltravers · 06/06/2023 11:23

She is really articulate and makes a very coherent and nuanced case. Brave as well - so impressive.

SinnerBoy · 09/06/2023 09:57

Thanks, Helle I don't know how any rational, fair minded person could read those accounts and conclude that it's a fair situation.

Alexandra2001 · 09/06/2023 10:07

Its a completely ludicrous situation, cycling is my thing but luckily i no longer compete, not that helps younger females.

My DD is a decent runner, she would be devastated to have to compete against a male athlete, of course that may well have already happened in mass start events like 5 and 10k's.

But this is down to Govt inaction and why i don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths that they know what a woman is, they might i suppose but don't care.

Moonandstarz · 09/06/2023 10:12

Redebs · 22/05/2023 07:19

They can take our medals, but not our dignity

Would be a great protest if they had an alternative podium & prize giving with second to fourth taking the top 3 spots & have that shared all over social media effectively ignoring the man claiming he beat all the women in the women's race.
But well done them for refusing to show up.. Not much glory for that man stood on his own 😂😂😂 well he was the only man in the race so rightly stood on an empty podium!
This needs to become the norm.
