This was in a Colorado - Utah race a couple of days ago. Apologies if there's already a thread. I didn't see one.

Interestingly, this was in the race for cyclists aged 40-49. I wonder if older athletes are less likely to stand for this nonsense. Anyway, good for them. I hope this spreads to younger cyclists and other sports.

Sometimes it's important for others to speak out because those who are directly affected can't do so. What is your objection to others speaking out on behalf of the silenced?

You should tell the scientific consensus that because it disagrees with you and I'm sorry I'm going to go with the consensus of experts personally, you need to convince them.

Research what it means and then you will be able to see that, yes, SCIENCE SAYS YOU CAN CHANGE GENDER. That's why scientists are the ones providing gender affirming care. You don't have science on your side. Trans people are as valid as climate change is real people just like to ignore consensus, or don't know what it is and how valuable it is.

No, appeal to authority is saying something is true because an authority said it.

Pointing out that over a century of research into trans people has resulted in agreement by the vast majority of experts on how it should be treated, through transition, is an appeal to consensus which isn't fallacious, it is in fact very intelligent. To deny consensus you need to have some pretty amazing studies you've done yourself that debunk the THOUSANDS of experts in this field, who are scientists as it happens.

It's funny you think I'm trolling when I'm actually just agreeing with scientific consensus just like I do with matters to do with time, space, evolution, anything incredibly complicated that thousands of people have researched for decades or longer.

The fact that transgender science is a thing, has been for over a hundred years, funnily enough was one of the first sciences attacked by the you know who Republic in the 20s and 30s, is obviously just something I made up. You can't possibly use the scientific method to study social constructs, obviously anthropology isn't science, nor sociology, nor...ah what am I doing. I don't think science says anything at all about gender, which is a social and cultural construct which has no basis in science. It also has a linguistic meaning, but again, that is nothing to do with science. And there is certainly no scientific evidence that people can change sex. Nobody in the history of mankind has ever done this.

The difference between sex and gender may be tricky for someone who can't distinguish scientist and medic. Or fact and fiction.

Whether people should "transition" or not, is very different from whether they are actually a "woman" or "man".

So that wouldn't mean that "trans-women are women" anyway.

But I will point out, that transitioning of children is still plenty controversial and high quality evidence doesn't exist for it, as far as I'm aware.

What you would ideally want, is controlled, randomised studies, over decades, and such studies don't exist.

Transwomen are male - by the very definition of the word. Transwomen are not female. They are males who feel more comfortable, for whatever reason, presenting as a woman.

Women's sports are for females. We don't play sport with our identity, but with our physical bodies.

Except social and cultural science exists and I don't see the point in arguing with someone who doesn't know that. Also, that's how the term consensus is uses. The consensus on trans people is they should transition.
