Women's rights general conversations - Thread 5

Continuation of Thread 4.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

Oh, my tired eyes. I see it's going to go the the lawsuit fund in all likelihood.

I'm not long up from my bed.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 19/05/2023 00:24

Looks promising. Getting them to act on any of it could be a different matter, of course, but having it officially written down at least makes it a little easier to complain when they don't.

duc748 · 19/05/2023 01:06

Of course it does all sound good. But then, you remember the Met...

If the Police are truly taking VAWG seriously, they're going to have to sack an awful lot of Policemen.

SqueakyDinosaur · 19/05/2023 07:30

Mark Rowley at the Met has said that we should expect to see a string of court and disciplinary cases against serving officers. He has massively increased the resources and clout of their internal investigations team.

Well don't let it happen again.

I fired off a terfy letter to the NS this morning, following a throwaway comment by Andrew Marr in his politics column this week. I am not expecting publication.

Tricyrtis2022 · 20/05/2023 18:20

Good for you, duc.

Me and my next door neighbour have just joined the Women's Rights Network and are looking forward to a meet up locally. Apparently there are four of us in this little town. It's great having a terf right next door.

You can try to divert attention by talking only about the Channel boat crossings – or, indeed, Keir Starmer’s views on a woman’s possession of a penis – but that won’t take you very far.

Thank you for the reminder upthread about CrowdJustice digging re. the appeal against the Haldane decision. Very much enjoyed that. Onwards and upwards!
