Continuation of Thread 4.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions, grr"- that sort of thing).

@duc748 I thought you were replying to a previous poster 😄

If I have time later, I might read through the whole bill and perhaps there we will find what the writer claims...

If you can find time between pouring hot chip fat into your lap and rubbing sand in your eyes, which must surely be preferable?

It was already a total word vomit and then she went all terfs are Nazis and, well, enough already. I pity her that she's jealous because she can't quite nail exposed midriff, micro skirts and virtiginous platforms. Imagine getting to the age of 48 and wanting to dress like a small number of tiktokers who are ... Trolling the man? Proving that women can look like men trying to look like women? That there is really any irony at all in taking on hypersexualised performative costumes that are part drag queen, part pre-pubescent girl? Utter bloody garbage. How dare she pretend that she gives a shit about the sort of lesbians that don't have a penis when it's a long winded peon to everyone can be a woman if they say they are with added big fat lies.

My blood isn't boiling but it's definitely gurgling. The affrontary of it. May her polyester jogging combo give her interminable itching in all the wrong places.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 29/05/2023 21:50

Well quite! That article is so vacuous in so many ways, from a quick skim. Maybe I missed the intelligence and original nuances that I suspect she thinks are displayed in her writing.

Splendid rant @MouseMinge Grin

“Phallometry.” I’m almost 60, I was a nurse for 35 years, some of those years in sexual health, and it’s a brand new word to me!

duc748 · 31/05/2023 13:52

Looks like a case of 'Hold the front page!' to me! 😁

SinnerBoy · 31/05/2023 16:24

In mid-April, a group of senior writers and editors at The Guardian met as part of the company’s ‘Diversity and Inclusion Week’ to discuss pushing gender-critical narratives ‘fearlessly,’ with the paper’s anti-trans slant clearly not enough for them.

Goodness me! Does being almost slavishly devoted to TWAW and never printing anything which makes transw look less than saintly now count as "anti-trans"?

StephanieSuperpowers · 31/05/2023 16:31

Yes, it's literally genocidal to question anything.

YES! Getting quite quickly to the point where unless you are prepared to get bits of you removed in allyship then you are a TERF

BillyBraggisnotmylover · 31/05/2023 16:44

Wasn’t really sure where to post this but I’ve been musing on it so it can go here.

Happened to catch Billy Bragg at a festival at the weekend. Musically he was excellent actually, surprisingly so for a non-fan. But the between song preaching from the stage re: Trans rights was met with a very muted response and amongst the middle aged women particularly sitting near me, zero response at all. Like, markedly so (looking away from the stage, no applause or cheering). In contrast his comments about unions and strikes were met with big cheers. This was at a very inclusive event with an area almost entirely dedicated to LGBQT acts, not a field full of rightwingers. Made me realise that as much as I sometimes feel in a bit of a bubble here on FWR, that bubble is much bigger than I thought.

By contrast, another headliner introduced a song with the line “ladies, ladyboys, they/thems, whatever” which felt like a massive eyeroll at the pronoun brigade, and was met with a loud cheer 😁

The case is still ongoing. Frightening how many men were involved and that there's an audience for it. One worked in a hospital. But not for WPATH, which might have made much of it legal, especially as adults not children 🤔

I'm just about to sit down to eat to Rather well done, ok burnt,🐔pie. I may leave this article until later!

Strike A Pose Lgbt GIF by MOODMAN

Sorry Beetle, I read it before I had my bag of pickled onion Monster Munch.

How does a split penis even work? Does it turn into two slimmer ones. How do they urinate? Like a lawn sprinkler? Don't answer these I just need them out of my head. A .gif for 'split willy'.

MavisMcMinty · 31/05/2023 17:18

I did read that article, twice to be sure, but what does “freezing” a man’s leg mean?

IcakethereforeIam · 31/05/2023 17:19

Definitely reminiscent of a pug

IcakethereforeIam · 31/05/2023 17:21

@MavisMcMinty I think they packed it in dry ice, froze it solid.

MavisMcMinty · 31/05/2023 17:23

Thanks - any idea why they’d do that? Is it the anaesthetic they used to do all the other grisly things?

IcakethereforeIam · 31/05/2023 17:27

Blokes are weird? Fuck knows was they used the anaesthetic for, not necessarily for pain killing, as I say blokes are weird, some of them, a minority(?). Some of that minority are truly deviant.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 31/05/2023 17:27

I am determined not to read the article, but was it like a frozen leg of lamb? Or still attached to the rest of its body? Surely if the latter, frostbite would be followed rather rapidly by gangrene and death?
