Serious question, so I can go back and discuss with my DDs (aged 38 and 42) without a row. I support JKR and they call me a TERF!

Also you could print out or link them to her original essay from a few years ago and if they read it, pick out anything they disagree with and discuss from there.

They have the following the rights that everyone has such as right to vote etc. I don't think they are denied any rights at all. They live in a free society.

My own view is that not using toilet of their choice is not a right it is a preference and we all denied preferences in some way or another.

Being able to control the recording of their biological data. So being able to actually change their birth certificate biological sex, and death record biological sex, and any data such as crime recorded as their ‘preferred gender’ being recorded as their actual biological sex.

No other group has ever been able to change their data recorded in this way.

It affects everyone as data is collected for very specific reasons. For example data recorded for biological sex is used for example to record health data - who is getting cancer and what the trends are. If we do not know which biological sex is getting which cancer, and how, we are not able to treat it.

But apparently things like now knowing who commits most sexual crimes or who gets which cancer is less important than a trans persons feelings about what is recorded about their biological sex.

Yet they were thrown out of one women’s group because they showed a vulnerable woman Adult material ( P0rn) on their phone.
Women feel uncomfortable around this person.

My DD (teenager so much younger than yours OP) explained at great length over dinner one evening the whole TWAW thing including that people are whatever they feel they are, needing to believe people are what they say they are, acceptance without exception etc etc.

She’d obviously seen me rolling my eyes during her lecture as when she finished she looked at me and asked: “So what do you think, Dad?”

I replied: “Please don’t misgender me. I’m a woman so you should call me Mum.”

Things went downhill rapidly from there, but she is still speaking to me and the subject has not come up again.

That list is the kind of thing which happens when a group seeking particular privileges gets no push-back, partly, because it is seen as untouchable, partly because it's very aggressive and enforces #nodebate, and partly because its activism has mostly taken place behind the curtain. So if you get everything you ask for, why not ask for much, much more?

So many good points made here. The one that hit me like a bolt of lightning recently is the whole 'they'/pronouns thing. For centuries women have been excluded from language about humans - man, him and he being the default language. Still now all drivers are assumed to be male unless obviously female, all animals are referred to as he unless it's clearly pointed out that it's female. Male is the default in every situation and this has only recently started to slowly change in some areas.

But hang on, suddenly a teeeeeeny proportion of the population find it offensive to use him or her and prefer they - to the point where they demand that everyone refer to everyone else this way - to the point where my son's school has told the pupils to use they all the time? Why couldn't we have done this centuries ago, to make language inclusive of, you know, half the population of the world? Boils my piss.

I don't mean the same rights as women. I mean the rights belonging to women.

Its like when a child is playing with a toy, and another child wants that toy. Offering another toy doesn't help, they want the toy the first child has, no other toy will do.
