What rights do transpeople believe they do not have?

Serious question, so I can go back and discuss with my DDs (aged 38 and 42) without a row. I support JKR and they call me a TERF!

"Also came across a commen stating that trans people are part of a cult, which is not true"

Oh I would never call it a cult, but they do like their blasphemy laws...

@oakleaffy 'Until you see the way he walks'.

Took the words out of my mouth! I saw a video of him driving somewhere to visit a friend, looking divine. Parked the car, exited, started walking to the house... and looked Divine.

That attempt to mimic the female sway was all it needed. People often say, 'You can't tell the difference', and maybe that's so, in a carefully-posed, perfectly lit photo, and perhaps also in a short, professionally-made video. IRL? A few seconds is all it takes.

I haven't seen Blaire White walk, only a talking head/stills of them..Plus Blaire admits they aren't a woman.

Blaire calls out a lot of TRAs as well.
Blair's opinion of the creepier Trans 'women' is clear.

Blaire isn't in support of men in female sports, either.

Which toilets does he use?

The things that make Mulvainey look male are the huge head, the huge feet, and the excessively thin and bony torso. I suppose with a long thick wig to hide the head, high heels to disguise the size of the hoofs and a big fluffy dress, the overall act might fool someone with bad eyesight in a dark room for about 10 seconds. Until the camp antics started, That would blow it immediately.

crunchermuncher · 23/04/2023 22:33

I find it interesting and also disturbing that several commenters recently seem to equate disagreeing with an idea with 'being hateful'.

Disagreement is not hate.

How do these people manage to navigate life on a day to day basis? Their mind must be blown every time those around them aren't in complete and total agreement with everything they say.

Not being able to disagree and discuss is a kind of totalitarianism.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 23/04/2023 23:40

It’s been going on for a while now and it’s blatant silencing tactic.

It worked for a while, too.

It’s not working so well anymore, unfortunately for the people who’ve been employing it.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 23/04/2023 23:43

A key person who withstood this silencing tactic was/is JK Rowling.

It took someone with her immense standing, wealth and privilege to be able to do it. People without that privilege were simply silenced.

And for years, she was seemingly a lone voice.

JK Rowling stood and persisted, and now regular people (women) are increasingly feeling emboldened to stand and refuse to be silenced, too.

MargotBamborough · 24/04/2023 08:42

That is what she says in the Witch Trials podcast, @TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand.

She felt she had to speak out because so many other women, who wouldn't have been able to pay their bills if they'd lost their careers, were unable to.

She doesn't say it in so many words, but she basically understood she was too big to cancel, or too rich for it to really matter if she was, and so she was almost uniquely placed to speak out, and felt she had almost a moral imperative to do so.

My DD (teenager so much younger than yours OP) explained at great length over dinner one evening the whole TWAW thing including that people are whatever they feel they are, needing to believe people are what they say they are, acceptance without exception etc etc.

She’d obviously seen me rolling my eyes during her lecture as when she finished she looked at me and asked: “So what do you think, Dad?”

I replied: “Please don’t misgender me. I’m a woman so you should call me Mum.”

Things went downhill rapidly from there, but she is still speaking to me and the subject has not come up again.

That is so funny. Your husband sounds great fun!

ValuePartnership · 24/04/2023 08:59

MargotBamborough · 22/04/2023 07:49

Absolutely this.

If the only women whose rights you care about are the ones with penises, what does that tell us about you?

I think this is totally unjustified. I know loads of gay men beside me who have resigned from Stonewall in disgust and who put defense of lesbian rights and women's rights in general at the top of their values and priorities. The LGB Alliance 2022 Conference was about 30% gay men, and their commitment to women's issues was total. Where do the gay men you attack speak and write their views?

ValuePartnership · 24/04/2023 09:06

I have read through (most of) this long thread, and did not see the following discussed -- but if I somehow missed it, my apologies.

Trans activists do not demand specific "rights", or anything that can be enjoyed by compared to anyone other than transsexuals. That includes specific things like women-only spaces or lifetime free hormone treatments.

What they demand is "respect" - an idea that is fashioned depending what is being considered, and basically means "anything and everything that any trans person claims is essential to maintaining their own experience of their own idea of their gender identity." Which is why accusing others of "transphobia" is such a large part of what they do, and why it is such an all-encompassing category.

I was responding to the final paragraph there, i.e. the suggestion that men who have never been interested in any women's rights issues before suddenly care about this "women's rights" issue because these women are male.

It's quite true that Blaire doesn't claim to be a woman and is very opposed to the men who do and to the women who support them in their quest for access-all-areas permits. All I wanted to observe was that someone as carefully groomed and coiffed as him, with implants and FFS (I think) and permanent makeup (or that's what it looks like), still can't fool the viewer in all circumstances.

Update. A few days ago I mentioned an arson attack on a property 2 transwoman and a gay man lived at. It's now being treated as a transphobic hate crime.

Whitechapel fire: Met treating blaze as transphobic hate crime

Transgender women and a gay man were in the flat at the time of the fire in east London, police say.

What point are you making here?

Arson is a crime? Definitely. A fairly common one.

An arson attack on a property where trans people live is a transphobic hate crime? Most probably, assuming the attacker knew the identities of the occupants.

Arson attacks on other properties may be other types of hate crime depending on the profile of the victims.

But if you think this incident is evidence that trans people are more likely to suffer hate crimes than other groups, or that hate crimes against trans people are on the rise, you will need more evidence. The plural of anecdote is not data.

I doubt you will find anyone on here who doesn't think arson is an appalling crime, regardless of their views on trans rights.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/04/2023 19:47

@MerlinsLostMarbles that is horrific I hate that that happened and wish that it had not. I also genuinely don't think that it's women saying 'sometimes sex matters' that do or cause such crimes.

Yeah, the chances of it being a gender critical feminist who committed this crime are pretty much zero.

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 27/04/2023 20:02

GC feminists have grave concerns about violence. Our MO is not, nor ever will be, violence.

And no, calling someone by the wrong pronouns is not ‘literal violence’. Or, if it is, then defining me a ‘person who menstruates’ instead of a woman, is also ‘literal violence’.

Surely you've seen all the transw getting chinned at Posie's events? Oh - wait.....

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 27/04/2023 20:59

Well, quite….

What rights do transpeople believe they do not have?
MerlinsLostMarbles · 29/04/2023 00:11

People have been asking if there is a "genocide" against transpeople. Today someone who is apparently a teacher has said Hitler's ideology should be brought back "but for transpeople".

TheBiologyStupid · 29/04/2023 00:43

Well, Merlin, there are a lot of nuts out there. No-one here would be calling for that kind of (final) solution and I'm sure you know that.

SinnerBoy · 29/04/2023 01:04

A lone teacher made a nasty comment, not supported by any official body and in Barking Mad World, that proves genocide.

There's a big dent in my desk and a big lump on my forehead.

SinnerBoy · 29/04/2023 01:08

That's not genocide, you straw-clutching chump.

It's horrible, as everyone will agree, but it's not genocide.
