What rights do transpeople believe they do not have?

Serious question, so I can go back and discuss with my DDs (aged 38 and 42) without a row. I support JKR and they call me a TERF!

We don't need to check anyone's 'private parts' to see if they're male or female, it's obvious. I can see someone in full biker gear or bee keeping suit and still tell if they're male or female. It's an instinct mammals have, including humans.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/04/2023 16:10

Ah we’ve reached the “my lovely trans friends” stage

I’m sure pauline can tell us how we tell the difference between Pauline’s lovely trans friends & TW like isla Byron & Karen white

I actually have four transgender friends. All of them are lovely and respectful people and do not fit the 'aggressive' label transgender people are often given. The more you surround yourself with people with different experiences, the more accepting you become of everyone's differences

I’ve got more than 4 absolutely lovely male friends- I’m not going to believe that means all men are ok or lecture women who may have faced appalling violence from men that all men are just misunderstood delights because my chums are good eggs.

Ive also known some absolute horrors of women- I don’t think this means all women deserve to lose their rights.

In fact I’ve know some actual children (under 16s) who have done some of the worst things imaginable (I’ve worked in a school with many young offenders) but I don’t think all kids are dangerous or don’t need protecting.

You can accept there’s decent people and unsafe people and until we find a way of psychically knowing who is who we have to do our best to keep everyone ok.

Plus it’s not actual bigotry to not believe people can change sex. There’s genuinely nothing to suggest it’s even remotely possible in humans.

Women, Pauline. The boring, old fashioned kind with wombs.

How many of those have you met who look and act like Dylan Mulvaney?

You didn’t answer the question?

It was - how many women have you met who look or behave like Dylan Mulvaney?

waterlego · 22/04/2023 16:31

I will refer to her as a woman because she is feminine

What a bizarre statement. You seem to be suggesting that feminine = female. Surely that’s not what you meant? Do you think camp gay men are women?

MrGHardy · 22/04/2023 16:38

None. They confuse their demands with rights.

Brilliant point.
Mulvaney isn't feminine. Gay men who are camp aren't feminine.

Mulvaney is ''Camp''.

I have NEVER seen a woman or girl act like Mulvaney.

It's a gross parody of what Mulvaney thinksa girl is like, but Mulvaney has no experience of being a girl, so it's just a gross parody.

Anyway, I've spent far too long on this forum for one day. Thanks for your engagement. Some people have given some insightful and thoughtful responses. I do think there is more focus to be given when it comes to how you include transmen into your feminism if you think feminism is for anyone with female reproductive parts, but I don't think me saying that will encourage you to explore it further.

Go anywhere "feminism" is being conducted by NGOs, public bodies, academia etc and trans is plastered all over in pink and blue. It's rigid and immovable, censorious and useless. Your grim little phrase about female reproductive parts comes directly from this cul de sac of righteousness. Suggesting we explore it further is an impossibility in the speech controlled world of gender identity feminism.

That is why you are getting a pass on your (leading) questions.

mach2 · 22/04/2023 17:01

On the Feminism Sex/Gender topic, near the top there is a thread about Dylan Mulvaney and people preying on her downfall, calling her a fraud etc without proof, just throwing around hateful ideas

That's because he is a fraud - a squealing, inanely grinning fraud. Exhibit A: https://youtube.com/shorts/L9yKdqhDa3k?feature=share

Exactly, I have several Gay friends..But not all Gay people are perfect..Denis Nilsen for example.
There is good and bad in either sex, and people XX XY cannot change their sex, it's not possible.

That is so offensive.

No woman or girl I know ever acts like that.

It's a grotesque mincing parody.

waterlego · 22/04/2023 17:11

@mach2, I hadn’t seen that one before. It’s absolutely fucking ridiculous. Why does he totter about in that semi-squat all the time? Looks like he’s worried he’s about to shit himself. I used to think he was just an idiot but I’m beginning to see he is actually quite nasty. He certainly appears to hate women.

Absolutely spot on.
Animals and humans know, instinctively.

I was riding a mare, and in the distance a Stallion, ridden by a friend set up a cacophony of neighing..they were hundreds of metres apart.

Dogs can tell if an approaching dog is the same sex as them, even when covered by a coat.

Blaire White is probably the most convincing Transwoman.

@paulinesmithson do you really think Dylan Mulvaney is a genuine TW, who has spent their life tortures by gender dysphoria? You really believe that?

Dull'un's as genuine as a bottle of chips.

Polygonpresent · 22/04/2023 17:54

sanluca · 22/04/2023 16:08

She said 'women', paulinesmithson, women who act like Mulvaney does. Not transwomen.
Women I know don't act like bimbo barbie dolls because no one would ever take them seriously. The fact he can and then everyone applauds him tells me the misogynistic expectations most people have of women (with most people read men).

It is setting the clock back fifty years to a time when women were good for nothing but eye candy.

The clapping and applause tells you they don’t think mulvaney is a woman either. No woman would be applauded for that behaviour. They’d be derided.

Polygonpresent · 22/04/2023 18:02

I will refer to her as a woman because she is feminine
This sentence illustrates so perfectly the regressive sexist stereotyping thinking that Gender Ideology promulgates. Woman = feminine, in their minds. They have limited women to that. That the poster who said this had no idea they were being sexist, says it all.

Yep, I saw two people head to toe, faces covered in full attic explorer kit on stage. Immediately obvious which was male and female without needing to see their ‘ facial features’, clothes, or anything. We’ve evolved to distinguish male from female on sight for very, very obvious reproductive purposes. And we are very good at it.

This doesn't always work for me, but it works in most cases. Even when watching one of those detective stories online or on television where we are shown a shadowy hooded person wearing all black, running in the dark or climbing buildings it's immediately obvious to me if that person is female or male (also if not young, but that's a separate thing), just from the movements of the body.

Based on a few personal anecdotes, I do think that women might be better at this than men. We can all speculate on the reasons for that difference if it exists.

nepeta · 22/04/2023 18:18

When I first watched Mulvaney's videos I thought it was an open parody (the first day: "I have already cried ten times today" kind of stuff)

The one where Mulvaney goes out into 'nature' wearing high heels and what looks like a leather bikini made me see the open misogyny in them. A bug is supposed to fly next to Mulvaney, and Mulvaney tries to escape it (in apparent panic) and falls down.

Typical girly behaviour, that is...

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 22/04/2023 18:26

anyone who watches Mulvaney and doesn't see out and out misogyny needs their head examined

Quidigiturinquam · 22/04/2023 18:27

@oakleaffy 'Until you see the way he walks'.

Took the words out of my mouth! I saw a video of him driving somewhere to visit a friend, looking divine. Parked the car, exited, started walking to the house... and looked Divine.

That attempt to mimic the female sway was all it needed. People often say, 'You can't tell the difference', and maybe that's so, in a carefully-posed, perfectly lit photo, and perhaps also in a short, professionally-made video. IRL? A few seconds is all it takes.

SinnerBoy · 22/04/2023 18:28

paulinesmithson · Today 15:49

As much as her stereotyping girls as crying a lot is bad, I don't think any of us are in the position to know for sure if she is faking or not and until I know for sure, I will refer to her as a woman because she is feminine

I don't find them feminine, rather, an effeminate parody and not a very good one. I think that they is capitalising the act they're performing. Few, if any people see them as a woman; just ask Nike and Bud Lite.
