Link to video inside! 11 minutes covering the parents protest in Swords Co Dublin today. Protesting against the proposed sex education in primary schools. There was a small counter protest who had a very loud alarm trying to drown out the poor parents.

Watch the video, very encouraging!

The parents and grandparents in that video were great, they're so clear about their concerns and express them very reasonably. The counter protesters on the other hand...

How are the MSM going to explain themselves when this story really break though?

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 08:35

@FOJN@FOJN the grandmother speaking was so right the counter protesters really were like they were brainwashed!
Surely if this is the parental opposition we're facing we can drag ourselves back over to the right side of history again!

They are and as another poster pointed out they are acting like the red guard.

We hear about "the right" stoking the culture war but I've thought for several years now that it's only a "war" because people are waking up and forming a resistance against a cultural revolution.

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 08:44

Really hope some of yesterday's parents are mumsnetters ☺️ I'm going to make contact with the natural women's council to see what else they have planned or how I can do my little bit.

RTE still haven't reported about the book being removed from the curriculum. That is major news for all parents but doesn't suit the narrative.

RTE are a disgrace!!! Cannot believe we are all forced to pay TV licenses and funding a national propaganda machine.

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 09:04

My 80 year old mother has said it for years. If a catholic book was removed from the curriculum RTE would be all over it as it fits with their catholic bashing narrative. I'm not religiousbut it seems to me that RTE love bashing anything catholic thinking it makes the country look liberal & progressive!

I know you think that the fault of parents, but in reality it's the fault of the media who refuse to talk about this at all. What these people want us not bizarre, outlandish, discriminatory or hateful. It's what most parents want. If the moderate parents can't get their message out and show the others who agree with them but are afraid of being described as Hitler, then this will happen.

Why can't the Irish Times, RTÉ etc discuss this without leaving it to gript?

The Irish Times did actually cover this incident at least. The emphasis is a bit different but it wasn't ignored anyway.

I share @PapadamPreach 's opinion of Gript media as I am sure do most posters here.

The point is there have always been characters like McGuirk , Justin Barrett or the Burke family at the fringes of Irish politics. And they have always been regarded as oddities , figures of ridicule with weird obsessions.

Anti gay rights Anti abortion. Anti immigrant. Stop the vaccine. Leave the EU ( but join NATO)
Fluoride. The Great Reset. Chemtrails. Satanism etc.
They stand for election and get like 26 votes.

Now people are listening to them because they have covered an issue that has traction with the ordinary sane voters. If this translates into electoral success the blame lies squarely with those wankers at RTÉ , the Irish Times and the government.

But there should be a special place in hell for my fellow socialists who have betrayed parents and children. PBP , Greens , Labour , Soc Dems - I've voted for all of the above-mentioned. And they have failed utterly.

Ps not sure where SF stand but they are quite good at shape-shifting so I wouldn't write them off yet?

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 09:59

SF I don't know.. Mary Lou has a transgender brother. I think the main aim for women's rights in Ireland is women's only spaces, changing rooms, toilets, prisons & third spaces for gender neutral.
We are constantly being fobbed off. What hope do we have when most of our politicians have jumped on the trans bandwagon & refuse to define a woman.
All we have is the Gript. RTÉ are refusing to comment even on the book ffs.

Those parents were great and very reasoned. I remain unconvinced by the opposing argument in that video:

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 10:18

Now in fairness the reporter Ben tried to converse with them & they blocked their faces with placards & were incoherent. There is lots similar videos of this type of behaviour online from these groups in Ireland . Their main agenda yesterday to silence the parents with their foghorns & whistles.

OP posts:
PriOn1 · 07/04/2023 10:23

From the Irish Times article:

’Karen Power, a Green Party councillor for Balbriggan on Fingal County Council, said she was concerned by such reports: “It would be worrying if that was the case because the group that organised it said they were going to remove books and destroy books, not borrow them. If they couldn’t get access to the books they made it clear they would intimidate the staff.”’

I wish the paper had ascertained whether there is valid source material for this statement, rather than (apparently) repeating it verbatim. It’s a significant accusation and does not seem at all in keeping with those speaking on the video. The Irish Times has the appearance of giving both sides, but if one side are lying, and the other not properly represented, then the report will be hopelessly skewed.

Whatwouldscullydo · 07/04/2023 10:39

I'm glad its become more obvious to people. That there's no coherent argument on the uther side. Just accusations using words designed to make you shut up. Like homophobic/bigot etc

I also think we need to remember that whatever our opinions on the sources, no one is wrong about everything all the time. And we have all seen the mess that tras and their organisations have gotten into by being so determined to disagree with every " unapproved" source that they end up looking like idiots and contradicting themselves in the process.

Its best just to deal in facts and truth because the truth exists whether u like who said it or not. I dont like trump but I'm.not gonna argue grass is purple just because he said it was green so I'm.not seen to agree.

Fair play to those parents

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 10:41

There's lots of videos of the Gardaí escorting four of the children's group into the library quietly while the left were heckling them. They were inside 15 mins & escorted out by the Gardaí all very peacefully.
Just to clarify something about the tearing of up of a book in Cork library (this protester was also given permission to enter swords Library yesterday)
The man bought & paid for his own copy of the book & tore it up in Cork library. It was not a library book. Obviously if it had been he would have been arrested for damaging public property!

Oh I see a few familiar faces there from the recent anti immigrant protests. Surprise surprise

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 12:09

@Flounder2022 i was waiting for you to pop by! Wasn't it a great win for Irish parents getting that pornograhic book removed off the school curriculum😊

Do you support John McGuirk and share his views on issues like abortion?

Because that’s what you’re supporting every time you share a link to Gript.

I don't know Gript. I live in the UK. I follow publications such as Spike!, The Critic etc. These are the only publications that produce coherent arguments about Trans ideology and Queer Theory. I don't agree with lots of things they say (and so do not subscribe) e.g. on HofL's reform, the monarchy etc, though I do agree with them on Brexit. If you do not share what these publications publish re the Trans agenda then you will find little that opposes it elsewhere (the occasional article in the Guardian etc.). So share it. Or find another outlet that is putting out this news.

Can you outline for me what about the book is any more pornographic than informing young people about heterosexual sex?

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 13:11

Children shouldn't be given access to any phonographic materials in our schools regardless of sexual orientation .
The author of the book absolutely stipulated the book was not for children. So why did the department of education roll it out to 12 year olds @Flounder2022 ?

I think they probably didn't pay enough attention or were to broad in their recommendations.

But my question remains. What is pornogrphic about it and why are people protesting at libraries about it?

Abhannmor · 07/04/2023 13:24

Get real ffs. This material is not suitable for primary schools. Of course we must protest.

It's no use writing to TDs or media platforms who tell us we are reactionary bigots . Is it??

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 13:24

People are protesting in the library because that book was put in the children's section across the country which is complete negligence.
