Link to video inside! 11 minutes covering the parents protest in Swords Co Dublin today. Protesting against the proposed sex education in primary schools. There was a small counter protest who had a very loud alarm trying to drown out the poor parents.

Watch the video, very encouraging!

Fair play to them.

It's a wonder it's only Gript covering this. I can't believe I'm at the stage of reading Gript but if no one else is reporting this issue I have to.

Keepthetowel · 06/04/2023 20:47

It’s night and day between the two sides. One with coherent arguments, the others with whistles and accusations of far right. No debate indeed

Abhannmor · 06/04/2023 20:51

Interestingly the trans rights protestors were fairly well behaved compared to the chaotic scenes of violence we see in the UK , NZ and Australia.

Perhaps mindful of the public horror at these events? Loved the guy with the real Dub accent there. Made a lot of good points - and you'll never shut him up 😂

I'm like a broken record but all the other outlets RTÉ etc are partaking in state controlled censorship & pro trans propaganda.
We need to share this far & wide so those strong parents voices are heard. They are speaking on behalf of the vast majority of us.
I've already emailed the link & a little email to my local tds. Maybe we can play our part by doing emailing the tds & Ministers so they know the word on the street & sharing the link as much as possible x

That man is very good in what he says.

I've shared it on twitter

Good woman @Turnipworkharder 💪 this needs to be seen & the pressure needs to be quadrupled!

Shocked that people will happily support the work of John McGuirk.

Great reporting. Well done to the parents.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 21:41

Yes Swords Library was hit by protesters too!
The Gript are the only publication I follow now! I enjoy the comments too😊

Fabulous! Well done those parents!
Taking matters into their own hands.
I don't know the history of gript but I used to be on a media diet of The Guardian and BBC for decades and wouldn't dream of lowering myself (!) to the likes of TalkTV and GBNews but they are now the only channels who have interviewed KJK and Helen Joyce and co
and have anything like a handle on the subject.
There are certain journos who are reliable and have done the research and are woth following.
Many more still drinking the Koolaid.

Villagetoraiseachild · 06/04/2023 22:02

Worth following....

Do you support John McGuirk and share his views on issues like abortion?

Because that’s what you’re supporting every time you share a link to Gript.

Clymene · 06/04/2023 22:18

Can we please declare a moratorium on the posters accusing other people of being right wing or forced birth supporters for sharing a news story? It's beyond tedious.

@PapadamPreach - please do share another source covering the parents' protest. I'd be really interested to see it.

Thanks for the link @Bláthannabuí - really articulate people interviewed there (from the GC side, the TRA one not so much)

I don't support Gript or John McGurk. But I do support them when they are telling Irish people the truth and other mainstream media are refusing to inform the public. And it's only thanks to Gript that we found out Barbie K is a violent man put into a women's prison.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 22:27

@PapadamPreach where is this protest featured in RTÉ? They never voice the parents concerns when it comes to Transgenderism. RTÉ @is pro transgender.
The gript are doing an amazing job reporting the concerns of Irish Parents. Fair play to them turning up in Swords.
The Gript were the publication that challenged Varadkar about whether he believed Barbie Kardashian was a woman & published BKs mugshot.
They are continuing to cover the gender neutral toilets in Tralee.
They reported on the Gardai refusing to use pronouns
They reported the parents protest against trans ideology & unsuitable curriculum material today.
RTÉ reported NONE of the above which is extremely relevant to the whole population at the moment especially with the referendum in November. Parents need to be informed.
I support the Gript completely as they reporting the news that is relevant to me & my family.

I'm pro choice myself, but I understand that others are not.
I truly believe that it's OK to disagree on important moral and ethical questions like abortion. People of good faith disagree about important topics.
I feel the same about this tbh. In a world where kids have access to the most depraved sexual content at the touch of a button, maybe there should be books/sex ed aimed at them explaining all this? Maybe these books go to far or not far enough, maybe the sex Ed is pushing a particular im/moral position or coyly shying away from topics that are common playground topics.

We need REAL good faith discussion.

Its fair to say Gript is socially conservative and conformable to traditional Catholic teachings. Which is fine by me, those are not Bad People stances.
I'd like to see more transparency, more reporting , not less, from all over the spectrum , with right of reply. Not flame wars about Nazis and Groomers.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 22:41

@PapadamPreach after today's coverage the Gript has gained many many more supporters who are shit sick of the state controlled sponsorship.

I hate the way anything coded right wing/conservative is placed beyond the pale.
It just shows you where the true power lies.

And I'm not particularly conservative myself - but it appears to be half the population. There's extremes on both sides, who i dont support but the vast majority are "leaners" who have valuable perspectives. If we don't have this mindset it's tyranny, isn't it? Maybe I'm being over dramatic.

Bláthannabuí · 06/04/2023 22:54

It's shocking the way things were snuck into the curriculum. The hidden agenda is so obvious.
It's not education it's indoctrination.

I rewatched the video & that guy speaking about his two little girls is fantastic.
I really do believe that Rishi Sunak who also has two lovely little girls is very invested in bringing changes in also in this due to being a "girl dad". He wants to protect their future & all little girls futures.

I thought both speakers were excellent and made it clear this is not about bigotry. They’re happy for age appropriate material to be shared and consenting adults to do what they want to each other.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me 🤷‍♀️.

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 08:14

The comments under the Gript Facebook post are brilliant. No parent wants this materiel given to young impressional children. Both speakers were so passionate & measured. The protesters accross the way though were pathetic & completely in incoherent. They just wanting peaceful, well meaning parents silenced.

I know you think that the fault of parents, but in reality it's the fault of the media who refuse to talk about this at all. What these people want us not bizarre, outlandish, discriminatory or hateful. It's what most parents want. If the moderate parents can't get their message out and show the others who agree with them but are afraid of being described as Hitler, then this will happen.

Why can't the Irish Times, RTÉ etc discuss this without leaving it to gript?
