WOMEN SPEAKING - Let Women Speak - Australia & NZ tour

Despite many pleas, the original thread was hijacked by people (mostly from the UK) who displayed ZERO interest in watching, appreciating and discussing the ACTUAL SPEECHES:

Let Women SPeak - Australia & NZ tour

IMHO This was profoundly disrespectful to the OP, @ZombieMumEB, who said she hoped to attend some of the events, to Mumsnetters (particularly Australians and New Zealanders) who wanted to discuss the speeches and to the brave, articulate and impassioned women who gave the speeches.

This thread is to discuss the WOMEN SPEAKING.

Please direct complaints about KJK to one of the perennial "We hate Posie" threads.

If you are a UK socfem with a genuine interest in discussing the socfem approach to re-educating the Labour Party, ie. rather than complaining about KJK, start a new thread. This one is about and for the women in Australia and New Zealand who spoke at the #LetWomenSpeak events

Rather than engage with derailments, can we please agree to report them or ignore them?

Calling out the far right is hatred of women, now?

I think you are confused.

Wow! So you are calling women who want to speak about their rights, far right?!

Many of these women are lesbians, elderly women, mothers, transwidows, women of colour, rape survivors, domestic abuse survivors.

Could you stoop any lower?

Powerful but depressing at same time. Women who try to speak are silenced and fear for their lives.

WTF? What a load of bollocks.

No, I am not calling women who want to speak about their rights, far right.

I'm calling the actual far right, far right. Are you another poster pretending you don't know what the far right is?

BordoisAgain · 25/03/2023 10:19

Anyone who perpetuated the lie that KJK and, by extension, the women who attended LWS events, are in any way far right or nazi adjacent are responsible for stoking up tensions which resulted in the events in Auckland.

Fuck off with your "we tried to warn you" disingenuous bullshit.

YOU did this. Fucking own it.

twitterexile · 25/03/2023 10:22

I am glad that KJK has called out those feminists in the UK who would have her silenced as much as any rabid TRA. They have always hated her popular appeal, the fact that she is a mother and the fact that her background was not in lofty academia. Plus - the biggest sin of all - she is not hard left and on her knees begging the party to recognise what a woman is so that she can feel happy voting for them.

Women's Place need to issue a retraction. Bindel and Ditum need to issue an apology. Their lies and slurs fuelled MVAW and nearly got women killed.

Clymene · 25/03/2023 10:23

Whaeanui · 25/03/2023 10:22

This is the other thread to discuss it generally. This one is meant to be for the women who speak at the events

Apologies.

I meant to add - she has self respect and will not grovel to Sir Keir for cookies.

But they won't. They will congratulate each other for being 'right'. They really hate her.

Boiledbeetle · 25/03/2023 10:12

A long campaign to assassinate my character, started by a group of jealous spiteful women in the UK, that I had ambitions besides stopping the mutilation of children and the erasure of women’s rights.

And here we have it, the root of all this nonsense about women being jealous, from the queen narc herself.

Do any of you follow Dr Jessica Taylor? She's another narc, and she says exactly the same about people who criticise her for legitimate reasons. "They're just jealous". She also creates a narrative that groups of people - recently "rad fems" - who supposedly have it in for her, in the exact same way KJK demonises "socfems". The effect is she doesn't have to answer concerns about her deeply unethical behaviour, and her followers all pile on the critics as they want to decent her from people they think are attacking her unjustly.

It's classic narcicism. Especially the jealousy bit. Narcs can't tolerate criticism, but they can accept that people could be jealous of them.

And, this kind of deflection is sadly very effective. JT's and KJK's followers take on this toxic narrative, and demonise the critics instead of considering the criticism in good faith.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 25/03/2023 10:29

Hi all - can we please ask that you do not use personal attacks when addressing posters you disagree with? Of course such posts will be removed when reported to us and they will only serve to derail the thread. Criticise the argument, not the individual and report anything you feel breaks guidelines.

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet hi and thanks. I reported on the other thread a poster making disparaging comments about my family, you haven’t removed it. I know others reported it. I don’t think it’s fair to make personal attacks about my family either, right?

@gwrachod with the footage of male violence surfacing do you condone their violence?

Which group is responsible for that violence

Anactor · 25/03/2023 10:37

gwrachod · 25/03/2023 00:40

It's not a theory - it's playing out in front of our eyes.

Anyway. I really am off now. You lot are like arguing with TRAs. You aren't arguing in good faith. You will twist anything, justify or hand wave away anything - even the far right and the ridiculously risky situations KJK is leading women into - so as to keep on believing in KJK.

It's fucking depressing.

It’s not half as depressing as a supposed feminist using the ‘look what she made them do’ defence for a group of men beating up a group of women.

Hallo there. Please can we not armchair-diagnose and attach pseudo-psychiatric labels to people - especially women - and please can we not use these labels as a slur. It is not acceptable to use disablist language and to use terms for disabilities as a slur or insult, nor should it be acceptable to use psychiatric terms as a slur or as an insult.

Thank you.

GlorianaCervixia · 25/03/2023 10:43

It’s frightening to think of how easily she could have been killed in that mob. I’ve been in shock all day after watching the live stream this morning. I really thought women were going to be seriously injured. It was frightening. Friends here in Australia have told me they were in tears.

I cannot believe women wanting to speak in public has lead to all this.

Whaeanui · 25/03/2023 10:47

Oh Aunty! That’s so hard to watch! Her tears… I feel like I’ve spent my life watching Maori women cry at not being listened to… and all of us… I’m going to have to go watch something funny soon to try and lift myself or I’ll be a mess all weekend.

gwrachod · 25/03/2023 10:47

MarshaBradyo · 25/03/2023 10:37

@gwrachod with the footage of male violence surfacing do you condone their violence?

Which group is responsible for that violence

Of course I condone their violence, what kind of question is that?

As I said, upthread:

Yes, violent men are responsible for their own actions. But if you are organising events where those violent men are expected to show up, you are also responsible for planning them in such a way that the risk to women turning up in good faith is minimised. "It's men's fault, not my responsibility" while deliberately pouring fuel on the flames is not an acceptable risk assessment plan, nor analysis after the fact.

Also:

One of her own stewards who knows her well said - before this latest shit show - that KJK's courting trouble for views, that she's putting women at risk, that the end game is to become a talking head in the US and that she'll walk over SFW women to get there, they're all just pawns to her.

BordoisAgain · 25/03/2023 10:50

Of course I condone their violence, what kind of question is that?

Similar type of question to "do you want Nazis at your event"

One that has a fairly obvious answer. Unless you're the type of person who wants to use it as a smear tactic of course.

To be clear, I'm not using narcissist as a slur for either KJK or Dr Jessica Taylor. I don't mean "I think they're a bit self obsessed". I mean I think they actually are bona fide narcissists.

I am using it as the best explanation for their behaviour, which fits the profile of narcicism, consistently.

You mean you don’t I assume

I asked because your posts have element of she made me do it when all the responsibility lies with the violent men.

The men were TRAs at the event. No women would want them there, want that reaction or to fear for their lives for just wanting to speak. It’s all on the men. No but she did this… etc it sounds like she made me hit her.

EndlessTea · 25/03/2023 10:55

I wonder if NZ women would face similar violence and intimidation if they set up their own Let Women Speak event without KJK there.

Wouldn’t it be great to hear from them?
