I can’t believe the misogyny and hostility towards women.

I think it qualifies you as being a feminist though. No?

How many books on feminism would that take in your view? Is there a minimum?

What kind of work (paid or unpaid) do they have to do to be recognised as a feminist?

Do you even know who we are talking about?

You don’t get qualified to be a feminist and you don’t get points for writing books about it. Are they ‘more feminist’ than unpublished feminists?

NotBadConsidering · 22/03/2023 10:53

Jujuj · 22/03/2023 10:50

That there ‘something’ in what was being said that aligns with their world view which has nothing to do with being ‘anti-peado’, which is an easy position to take. They wouldn’t bother turning up otherwise.

What is that something? Why didn’t the Nazis say that something? Are you suggesting the men marching in the middle of parliament square suddenly came across all coy and shy and cryptic in their messaging, hiding their real message subtly behind aggressive chants and banners?

Hepwo · 22/03/2023 10:53

CremeEggQueen · 22/03/2023 10:49

An actual feminist would not be comfortable with a Neo Nazi next to them.
And I have never said that there were never any respected feminists there, I'm sure there were.
As I said it's not just about feminism though, is it?
And there's no point just demanding "no" at me as you dont like what I'm saying.
Why else do you think the neo nazis will have turned up brandishing paedo signs at the rally?
Who do you think they were talking about - I'll take a guess it's not going to be feminists / "GC" people, is it?
More likely trans people.
Like usually gets thrown at LGBT people.
They clearly felt emboldened to

You need to tell us who they were referring to with their anti peado signs.

It's a very straightforward sign.

CremeEggQueen · 22/03/2023 10:55

I think it qualifies you as being a feminist though? No?
Where did the poster say differently?
Not sure what that has to do with anything they posted, they were just pointing out that it doesn't make you infallible if you are one.

NotBadConsidering · 22/03/2023 10:55

All of the women there were not just uncomfortable, they were scared and threatened by the presence of both Nazis and TRAs. Two different groups of stress I’ve males made a group of women scared. And in Hobart, it was just the latter that did it.

washingmachineheart · 22/03/2023 10:55

I can’t believe the attitude towards a group of publicly saluting Nazis in some of these posts.

”Well they're against PEADOS! They had a sign saying it! Aren’t you?!”

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, regardless of their despicable views?

They’re Nazis! That’s how they’ve chosen to position themselves and reflective of their entire belief system. But because they chose to carry a sign on this particular day (interesting choice) that reflects a near universal sentiment then critics of their presence are required to defend their stance on pedophiles?!

If a group of Nazis turned up to my litter pick, no, I don’t think I’d be able to conscience their presence just because they’d brought their bag for life that day.

Disgusting

If I was cynical.. and I am.. I would say they were trying to broaden their reach by saying something most people can agree with.

Babdoc · 22/03/2023 10:56

Still laughing at Mishy’s statement that Australians are decent to minorities!
Go and ask the indigenous aboriginals about that, dear. They will soon enlighten you.
DD lived in Oz for a year and said the casual racism was embedded and shocking. As a doctor I wasn’t surprised, having seen the terrible health outcomes for the indigenous people.

'next to them'!

Do you understand that the women did not know who they were until they saluted?

What do you think the women should have done? Made comments over the PA that would inflame the Neo-nazis? Was there even any police line in front of the women, I didn't see it. So should the women turn on the nazis and denounce them with the police lines being elsewhere already struggling to cope with the glass being thrown at the nazis and the protestors rushing the police line to get to the nazis?

Think this through.

What isn't about 'feminism'? Working to prioritise women's and girl's sex based rights over gendered rights?

The Neo-nazis came because ANTIFA and the Victorian Socialists were there. They have no interest in the women. The added bonus was that they got to salut while walking in front of the trans people in the crowd.

You have produced no evidence at all. You don't even seem to have a modicum of understanding about the groups at the event.

SlouchingTowardsBethlehemAgain · 22/03/2023 10:57

When your supporters are turning out to be neo-nazis isn't it time to think again? The right wing trajectory of GC 'feminism' is frightening.

Jujuj · 22/03/2023 10:56

So they had nothing to do with the women trying to speak then?

So says a poster who talks over the top of a Maori woman on this feminist board.

I'd say its unbelievable but it's not anymore.

Jeez, have you even read the thread?

ArabellaScott · 22/03/2023 11:00

And anyone that thinks using terms like 'TERD' to disparage women is 'on the right side of history' - just keep on, mate. Keep on keeping on. It is illumunating.

The group was called the National Socialist Network.

If I were you , I would go and speak to the Socialists. By your thinking, that group has more to do with the Socialists than the women who seem to disagree with you.

washingmachineheart · 22/03/2023 11:01

“The added bonus was that they got to salute while walking in front of trans people in the crowd.”

The very same trans people members of the GC crowd are there to protest against? Saluting in front of that crowd was a bonus to the Nazis… but there’s no alignment to the “women”?

Hepwo · 22/03/2023 11:01

Well they're against PEADOS! They had a sign saying it! Aren’t you?!”

The anti women posters here repeatedly claim they know everyone's motives in the face of all the actual evidence, they deserve a bit of that pushing back at them. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, regardless of their despicable views?

Again, you are making false claims. This is disgusting.

They’re Nazis! That’s how they’ve chosen to position themselves and reflective of their entire belief system. The critics are smearing standing for women with the presence of these men. If you wish to fling shit expect to get it batted back.

So much hypocrisy.

So childish. Doesn't really add gravitas to their argument.

beastlyslumber · 22/03/2023 11:01

Oh good, all the stupid people and misogynists have come out, emboldened no doubt by the stupid misogyny of the Australian politicians.

Groups of violent males getting together to fight each other has nothing to do with women trying to speak. The women have been put in the middle of this and it's deepy unjust as well as really fucking scary.

CremeEggQueen · 22/03/2023 11:02

Helleofabore · 22/03/2023 10:59

How on earth would anyone know if someone is Maoru or not on these boards?!
When its all just words on a screen unless they tell you outright they are?
Or are we supposed to dust off our crystal balls?!

StopStartStop · 22/03/2023 11:02

A former colleague 'emigrated' to Australia and was back in a year because of the outright racism she encountered.

That aside, I'm sick of this nonsense. Obviously women are being erased, their rights eroded. A blind man on a galloping horse could see it. Name calling, trying to taint us with far-right connections, none of it is going to change the truth that women do not accept what is happening to us.

I did not consent.
