'Stewart McDonald, Kirsten Oswald, Kaukab Stewart and Alison Thewliss were at the Glasgow protest to support the trans community and stand up for Scotland's democracy.'

That's them standing in front of a sign that says 'decapitate terfs'.

Again, I'm genuinely fucking shocked. This inflammatory, violent rhetoric is not acceptable.

Remember when Lisa Muggeridge warned us all about this?

In an abusive domestic partnership, the most dangerous time is when the victim tries to leave.

BeBraveLittlePenguin · 21/01/2023 15:42

They seem like such nice well balanced people. They're welcome to pee next to me unless I see them first

3beesinmybonnet · 21/01/2023 15:45

Thanks @Rainbowshit glad somebody has.

ArabellaScott · 21/01/2023 15:46

I always see this stuff and think 'well, that's indefensible'.

Yet ...

'That banner is what happens after years of media/government attacks and lies. You can't just keep attacking a minority and not expect them to be angry about it.'

I remember watching the Trump fiasco play out over his final days and you could feel just from what was being reported and the footage that it was about to all go tits up and that loads of misogynistic men, and woman, that Trump was winding up was going to explode.. And then they did. And it was carnage.

This is very quickly starting to have that same frisson in the air about it.

the politicians are acting with and as the crazed mob.

It's Not good.

it's not safe.

it's not the right side of history.

PronounssheRa · 21/01/2023 15:48

You know I no longer accept MPs or MSPs saying whoopsie we didn't realise we were on a platform with an exceptionally violent criminal, we didn't realise threats of violence were being made against women.

They know, they just don't care.

MarshaBradyo · 21/01/2023 15:52

Women are at the receiving end of violence without repercussion

It’s ill-making.

How can anyone defend it

ArabellaScott · 21/01/2023 15:58

Thewliss dismisses concerns.

She honestly thinks she can get away with saying she didn't see it. Was she led to her spot with a blindfold on? And only removed the moment she was due to speak?

JellySaurus · 21/01/2023 16:10

I didn't see it. If I'd seen it I'd have told them it was naughty.

How about: it's appalling and does not reflect my beliefs in any way? How about: it's appalling and I dissociate myself from that attitude? How about even: I do not support violence against women, in any form?

DialSquare · 21/01/2023 16:15

She didn't see it? Well we can see her, make no mistake.

JKR has tweeted about this:

Murdo Fraser MSP has reported it to the police:

More “look what you made me do” type replies to JKR I see.

I think it's far worse than not caring, they do care. But they think that they are in the right and are proud to stand next to horrible scumbags like them. They think it's a badge of their progressiveness.

SinnerBoy · 21/01/2023 16:33

I simply cannot believe that Alison Thewliss didn't see the poster. Did she never once glance behind? It's simply not credible.

She knew, but she said and did nothing, it's tacit support.

It's like Mhairi Black handwavjng away the abuse of female politicians in Westminster because it suits her ideology. It's shameful.

VinoDino · 21/01/2023 16:35

Have they any clue about the background of guy they were applauding? Who boasted about going mob handed to the bathrooms in the Scottish Parliament? To intimidate women.

Very disturbing.

ResisterRex · 21/01/2023 16:35

I don't care if they saw it or not. By now, there is no excuse for not knowing what the TRAs do at these public tantrums demos. There's every fucking chance you'll be pictured with something highly unpleasant/violent.

If you are in the public eye and you go in order to take part, people will draw their own conclusions. They're entitled to.

EasterIsland · 21/01/2023 16:36

Such lovely people - it's sooooooo clear why we want to invite them into our spaces. Not.

MidsomerMurmurs · 21/01/2023 16:39

ArabellaScott · 21/01/2023 15:58

It’s joyous and civic misogyny isn’t it?

IwantToRetire · 21/01/2023 16:44

I see from one of the newspaper articles that the police have received complaints.

As I am not in Scotland, so not sure how it (should) work there, but can anyone make a complaint.

And if so which police force is it.

But not only is it a threat to women, but at a time when women in politics spoken out about the level of threats and abuse they receive.

So how many women in politics dont speak out in public, because they are concerned for themselves and their families. They may try and lobby etc., behind closed doors but dont date to be public.

We are in such a dangerous time in politics.

Top voted comment on JKR's post by this misogynist is disappointing
