I know it's a daily mail article but I can't help thinking. We only ever hear positive stories but the figures tell us this. I really hope the men and woman are getting the support they need from these complications. 🥺

Half of trans surgery patients suffer pain, sexual issues years later mol.im/a/11629421 via dailym.ai/android

Who is this person?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11303919/Florida-sex-change-surgeon-dubs-Dr-Teetus-Deletus-REPORTED-consumer-watchdog.html

Trigger warning - some of her content is quite distressing, photos of her grinning next to very young girls with self harm scars post mastectomy etc

Sidhbh Gallagher, based in Miami.

I would have thought the process would be as strict in USA as anywhere due to the level of litigation generally.

You'd think right?

I am led to believe that the person who Yeets Teets [takes the breasts off of teenage girls] doesn't have malpractice insurance so if she is sued she will just go bankrupt. I expect her to have put all her money into some offshore account. It's like looking at a cartel operation.

Im sorry what? They "yeet teets"?! It's not a jolly little outing.

Christ alive, I've just googled Sidhbh Gallagher. She is a monster, targeting children for really harmful surgery on TikTok. She needs to be in prison. Why the actual fuck isn't she in prison?

I. Know. Right

Welcome to the dark side of being a TERFy bigot.

If this isn't a crime, why not?

TheKeatingFive · 19/01/2023 09:47

She's also one of the few surgeons that will operate over a certain BMI (not deemed to be safe by the establishment).

A particularly gruesome story emerged on Twitter from an obese kid who'd gone through a botched surgery with her. She basically waved away their concerns, then stopped answering their calls, leaving them to go to A&E and now try to find someone else to fix the mess. Absolutely criminal.

Same reason people scream 'Fuck off bigot' and shove most discussion to the dark feminism board. Nobody wants to discuss the horrors of what has been happening.

Exactly. And yes, she seems to have some odd set up where not having malpractice means she can’t get sued. A patient of hers who nearly died of sepsis has looked into it as she wanted to take legal action.

Sidhbh not only makes funky adverts for her ‘yeeting the teets’ on social media aimed at children and young people but also advertises that she will perform surgery on people whose weight means that other surgeons won’t operate because if the safety risks.

The patient who nearly died was obese and had been rejected by other surgeons until she list weight but Sidhbh claimed her methods means all would be fine and went ahead. The patient ended up with 6 inches of necrotic tissue and a gaping hole in her side where her weight had turned out to be an issue. When she contacted Sidhbh fir advice, she was brushed off and told all was fine. She ended up in A&E as an emergency.

‘Dr’ Gallagher seems to operate with impunity and sees young patients from the UK.

In the UK the rules are stricter but a prominent surgeon who specialises in trans surgery was recently in front of the BMA for lying about a ‘serious incident’ that happened while treating a patient. I’m not sure if the outcome of the hearing.

He markets his services on Instagram, sometimes posing for pictures with his shirt off next to young patients who have had double mastectomy. He looks to be in his 60s.

RichardBarrister · 19/01/2023 09:55

Sorry cross post @TheKeatingFive - it astounds me every day that this unbelievable behaviour is accepted by so many and people that raise concerns are told to shut up and leave it alone.

bellinisurge · 19/01/2023 09:59

@AlisonDonut , the dark side has the hill we are all going to make our stand on.

Why anyone is allowed to perform these grotesque quack surgeries, on clearly vulnerable people, is beyond me. They should all be struck off.

TheKeatingFive · 19/01/2023 11:16

I don't get this at all. Is the Hippocratic oath no longer a thing?

porridgecake · 19/01/2023 11:16

I started to post earlier but internet disappeared.
I am glad to see that there are people on this thread who were previously unaware of exactly what has been going on.
It really makes it clear why MN was under so much pressure to corral all discussion onto the specially created "FWR Sex and Gender Discussions" section.
I hope many more people will visit that section now.

I agree with you Polly.
Unfortunately it is rare for a thread on this topic to remain anywhere on the main boards for long. There is usually almighty uproar from certain quarters with demands for MN to move the thread immediately to the FWR section. MNHQ usually capitulate instantly.

porridgecake · 19/01/2023 11:55

You ask what is the point of hiding this topic away? Well, I could make a suggestion but I would be deleted.

pattihews · 19/01/2023 11:56

Tell all your friends about this forum. Post them links. When anyone mentions any concerns about what's happening, send them here to read the Break It Down For Me thread here:

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3145470-Break-it-down-for-me

Which is several years old and just keeps growing as new information and stories keep coming. My question to you is how you managed to avoid this subject for so long and what else has been slipped past you without you realising? I've started reading the news very much more carefully than I ever did in the past.

It has been very heartening to see more of these threads stay up in AIBU. Long may that continue.

porridgecake · 19/01/2023 12:03

Polly, when you have a bit of time, make yourself a coffee and read the thread pattihews linked.
