Transmaxxing

Article in Unherd by Mary Harrington about 'transmaxxing', a phenomenon in which young men transition because they can, not because they have dysphoria but in some vague hope of having sex with sympathetic women.

It's reminded me of Ollie London, who assumed that just because you can do something (in his case have surgery to make him look Korean) it's okay. No ideological awareness, no ethics, just a why not? kind of attitude.

So, if i am following correctly...

Trans people are who they say they are and it's literal genocide to not accept without exception.

Except where its obviously someone joking about being trans

TERFs are bigoted old witches claiming some men might pretend to be trans in order to play out a fetish in public.

Except in cases where its obviously satire.

Jokes and satire are very common in society.

They generally aren’t hard to detect.

Thanks EastLondonObserver for proving to lurkers how coherent, consistent and rational trans ideology is.

My pleasure :)

(now have a think about what that means)

Whilst you're here, I was wondering at what point on the scale of fake boobs the wearing becomes "obvious satire". This link contains items sized "small" to "XXXL". Please could you clarify when the comedy begins? This should be easy if transness can be quantified.

Note, searching on Ali Express for "fake breasts for men" is not for the faint hearted.

The post uses it as a verb - not common, at least, it seems, outside of slang in some corners of the internet.

Yeah? Slang you say? Well I never!

Well I suggest that perhaps it is you who never, never actually googled ‘gatekeeping’.

You really do deliver.

Sorry - never heard it used as a verb before. You guys are all old hands at the identity jargon though.

We can spend all day playing this game, but I’ve already given you my answer.

Hilarious that ELO, whilst minimising the amount of men taking advantage of gender laws, simultaneously acknowledges that they are numerous.

i image you have quite the collection!

We can spend all day playing this game, but I’ve already given you my answer.

Enough to last all day, in fact!

You missed out that a trans person can deny that another trans person is really trans if they think the other trans person is the 'wrong sort of trans', or if they think the other trans person regrets their transition.

See this thread on twitter

It's not clear how they think this is compatible with 'everyone is who they say they are'.

HootyMcboob76 · 11/01/2023 14:01

"Jokes and satire are very common in society.
They generally aren’t hard to detect."

You still haven't answered HOW women and girls are supposed to deal with this in every day life? Do you expect them to question every single man dressed as a woman who comes into their spaces to determine it they are "true" trans or only "satirical" trans people?
And does it matter what they are?
They are still invading women's spaces regardless of the authentic or non-authentic feeling in their heads.
How should women and girls protect themselves from either kind?
How are we supposed to know which is which?

YOU seem to know.
Please give us the measurable and objectifiable markers of what it is to be truly trans, and how we can tell in ACTUAL situations that someone claiming to be trans, is actually not.
Because on THAT basis we could challenge them, could we not?

Hint - the answer is "not", because EVERYONE WHO SAYS THEY ARE TRANS IS TRANS.

You don't understand this at all.

It opens the doors for ANY man to use this ideology to take advantage of women and girls , even if they ARE just a man with gigantic fake breasts and a bad wig.
ACTUAL WOMEN have been thrown out of clubs, bars, gymns, spas, saunas etc for objecting to men in their spaces. All the man has to say are the magic words and HE is protected while the woman is thrown to the wolves.

So tell us ELO.....

HOW DO YOU KNOW ?
How do we police it?
What protection is in place for females if any man can claim a trans identity and we must accept that identity as true?

Interesting Twitter thread, and demonstrates the self-centred refusal to accept others' experiences that I have come to expect....

So according to that person, someone who desperately wants to be the opposite sex isn't trans, unless they invoke this nebulous sort of 'gender identity' - that, from any angle you look at it, seems to broadly just mean 'masculinity' or 'femininity'?

I'm happy to die on the hill that femininity and female can be separate concepts. One is neither necessary nor sufficient to have the other.

Beowulfa · 11/01/2023 14:44

That Twitter thread.....does that mean that by Robin's criteria a man who changes the name on his phone bill to a woman's for 3 months isn't "truthfully trans"? Somebody needs to tell Nicola Sturgeon...

If you think "gatekept" is jargon, and don't find its derivation from "gatekeeping" to be intuitive, I take it that you must be a veritable fount of compassion for people who find it difficult to use neo-pronouns like ze/hir.

That's rather a pleasant discovery.

I am seriously laughing at this.

It is not 'identity' jargon. It is a term commonly used for all matter of things. It has been used in organisational behaviour from decision making through to selling techniques for a very long time.

Perhaps google next time though..... seriously.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 11/01/2023 15:12

I come, bearing "jargon", pilfered directly from the NonBinaryWiki.

Maverique

Maverique is a gender identity that falls under the nonbinary umbrella term. It is defined as an identity that is not the absence of gender, or an apathy towards gender, but a present feeling of gender. This feeling of gender is completely independent from male, female, neutral, or anything derived from any of them.[1] However, maveriques can be multigender with their other genders being related to maleness, femaleness, or neutrality.

”Gatekeeper” is common, yes.

”To gatekeep” is not.

You really need to look up 'gatekeeping'. It very much is 'common.

You are doing yourself no favours here.
