I was reading this thread

www.reddit.com/r/AskFeminists/comments/yvt4ru/how_should_men_respond_to_transphobic_feminists/

and I just couldn’t believe these people are serious!
How can someon be this far gone?
Where do they base their beliefs on?

OP posts:
Helleofabore · 18/11/2022 08:49

Hmm male feminists?

RoyalCorgi · 18/11/2022 08:51

"well-organized and ruthless group that does not hesitate to use disinformation as a weapon".

Wow.

namitynamechange · 18/11/2022 08:53

These words of wisdom:
"You're always going to be at a disadvantage arguing about womanhood with a woman but those other topics are a bit less abstract and philosophical."

LOL

Theunamedcat · 18/11/2022 08:54

I would be surprised but look at Scotland probably about to become the world's first trans country how will they get there work done with all the affirmation going on the special days off I suppose they will have a good police force for thought crime

MandyMotherOfBrian · 18/11/2022 08:54

Love the argument that women hide their ‘transphobia’ by not talking about trans people. So it’s transphobic to talk about trans people and it’s transphobic to not talk about trans people. Ok, gotcha 😉

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 09:02

"It can be really difficult to engage with them. They are a very angry, very misguided, delusional group of people. The mental gymnastics they do on a daily basis to fit all their contradictory view points together must be exhausting."

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

JanieAllen · 18/11/2022 09:02

Having had a man come up to a woman's stall in Edinburgh and berate the women there who probably had about 200 years of feministing between them - and tell them that they weren't doing feminism right - I'm not surprised.

JanieAllen · 18/11/2022 09:03

Oh the bloke didn't have a beard but I'm working on the basis it was invisible at that particular moment.

Omg they're describing themselves!😂

Kindofcrunchy · 18/11/2022 09:29

I used to post on Reddit a lot but was eventually banned from a lot of the subs I enjoyed using (not even trans related topics). There used to be a few subs that allowed discussion of GC views but one by one they got zapped in favour of "inclusiveness". It's become a twaw echo chamber with no independent thought or debate.

OmiOmy · 18/11/2022 09:38

If trans women are refuting the patriarchy by choosing to be women then it is a choice they are making to take womanhood. That is what TERFs object to - men choosing womanhood, choosing to take on the oppression and misogyny.

🤦🏻‍♀️This poster has it all backwards. TW are displaying their patriarchal entitlement.

Helleofabore · 18/11/2022 09:43

Let’s face it. There wasn’t much truth in that Reddit post about anything.

Boiledbeetle · 18/11/2022 10:43

"And given that trans people have already rejected the dogma of the patriarchy, I think it's nonsense to assume that trans women are going to behave like men, and bad men at that, in women's spaces."

  • *So how many actual women go into the toilet in their local supermarket and get their penis out to photograph themselves all erect and proud?

From experience, there is one group that is happy to answer questions put by other side and one group that ignores them, changes the question, refuses to answer etc.

It seems like when they actually have to type something out they realise that it's illogical, so they just run away or change the subject.

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 10:54

Well, yeah. They would be very welcome to come over here and put their very calm, logical and coherent points of view across. Happy to discuss any areas they think are contradictory.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 18/11/2022 11:00

Mmm

the people who come here to tell us how mean we are are notable for how calm, logical and coherent they are

oh hang on, no they’re actually generally ageist, rude, angry and irrational. I remember now

I’d bloody love it if some of them could engage in a calm, rational conversation and it didn’t come down to ‘well this is what I believe and you’re big meanies if you don’t accept that’

Thelnebriati · 18/11/2022 11:07

I would like a way to show people the step by step process that caused them to slip straight into DARVO, as so many of those replies did.

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 11:08

Literally, "you are old" was the crowning 'argument' of the weird brigadeers we had in last night.

unwashedanddazed · 18/11/2022 11:14

I think it's largely accepted that all the feminist/lesbian subs on reddit are populated by TW talking to themselves.

ZeldaFighter · 18/11/2022 11:26

Couldn't read all 80 comments. I'm not fueled by hatred or bigotry but I did see a person who had been a man for 20 years take some drugs, claim to be a woman and beat lots of women in a swimming race. That instantly chimed with my feminist beliefs about the denial of opportunities to women by men.

I am still conflicted on how to deal with people whose gender is difficult to determine by sight. Also by how transwomen seem to be at greater risk of violence - maybe they should be welcomed into and protected by feminism? I am still thinking on some points. And it isn't about people - it's about the rules organising society.

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 11:34

It's not true that TW are at greater risk of violence. In the UK, on average 2 women are killed every week. In the last ten years, more TW have killed than have been killed.

Even if they were at greater risk of violence, I'm not sure why it would be feminism's job to protect them? Or even how feminism would go about protecting them - it hasn't managed to stop the horrendous rates of violence against women and girls.

Was this quote written about people who believe in biology or those who believe sex is a social construct?!!!! Mental gymnastics indeed!

Tallisker · 18/11/2022 11:38

If, and it's a big if, transwomen are more at risk of violence (more than who?) the chances are the violence is coming from other men. That's the issue that needs addressing. Hiding behind women's skirts by using their spaces isn't a solution. What about gay men? Old men? Weedy men? Men with learning disabilities? These are at risk of violence too - should women take them all in? I say a big fat no. Don't make men's violence against men women's problem. We have enough of a problem with men's violence against women.

beastlyslumber · 18/11/2022 11:42

It's a spectacular example of projection, from the reddit thread.

xJ0y · 18/11/2022 11:44

Wow, they really are describing themselves.

Love the question about how to shut down concerns about children without them being able to observe correctly that the patriarchy in whatever form shut them down.
