Scottish Government don't allow suffragette colours at Stage 2 GRA meeting

The Committee are currently meeting at the Scottish Parliament today to discuss the suggested amendments to the GRA (Stage 2.) A feminist has been told to remove her scarf (knitted in stripes of suffragette colours - no other slogans, badges etc) or leave. She chose to leave. Meanwhile rainbow lanyards are being worn by Committee members who are discussing the amendments.

Not yet they are weirdly unintelligent and think if they keep on repeating 'I'm a feminist to my fingertips' they'll get away with it.

Particularly when you see the official Scottish Parliament tartan which is, well...green, white and purple with some small red details.

At the end of this morning's committee meeting an MSP asked why the woman was asked to leave for wearing the suffragette colours. He was told that this discussion would take place in private and the sound was immediately cut.

I have no problem with suffragette colours being banned as long as they also ban rainbow lanyards...

I hope they ask why rainbow lanyards are allowed...

Russell Findlay is the MSP who asked why the feminist had been thrown out.

Says it all, about the current Scottish government’s contempt for women. Not even making a pretence of impartiality, and arrogantly confident they’ll get away with it. Contempt for the voting public too, when you think of it.

Why did the feminist leave? I would neither have removed the scarf nor leave. Would she have been carried out?!

And apparently the Security Manager's Manager saw the scarf on the Parliament TV and decided that it was a political statement. When the feminist involved asked why the rainbow lanyards were allowed, the Security Manager squirmed and said that he saw her point.

Again, no slogan or words. Just the suffragette colours. I was thinking about getting one of the Suffragette tartan scarves for Christmas. I definitely am now.

The Scottish government must think that it all started to go wrong when women were given the vote. Doesn't inspire confidence, does it?

FFS. What is it all achieving. Such double standards. The electorate should hold them to account and this be more widely advertised.
