The Committee are currently meeting at the Scottish Parliament today to discuss the suggested amendments to the GRA (Stage 2.) A feminist has been told to remove her scarf (knitted in stripes of suffragette colours - no other slogans, badges etc) or leave. She chose to leave. Meanwhile rainbow lanyards are being worn by Committee members who are discussing the amendments.

'Wearing a purple, green and white tartan scarf, Tory MSP Rachel Hamilton welcomed the Presiding Officer’s statement.'

Thank you, Rachel.

Politicians wouldn't be allowed to go to meetings with football colours either.

It's just standard dress code.

Oh Marge you never fail to amuse 😂😂😂

Maduixa · 15/11/2022 22:25

If women's right to vote is a controversial political topic in Scotland, I don't think it's very smart to advertise that to the world!! 🙄

If the Parliament wish to remove all symbols of political opinion, even about things that are generally considered settled history, then they must change the Code of Behaviour to ban poppies, thistles, shamrocks, roses, leeks, daffodils, carnations, sunflowers, oak trees, ribbons, rosettes, rainbows, labryses, triangles, lions rampant and couchant, unicorns, dragons, griffins, harps, stars, crescents, suns, crosses of all types, raised fists, beehives, bears, bulls, eagles, doves, peace signs, venus symbols, mars symbols, torches, shovels, and pound signs. And any representation of any flag including the saltire and union flag, and any use (in or out of combination) of the colours of any recognised flag.

Precipice · 15/11/2022 22:35

What is left? Only single colours, since any colour combination will represent something - if you dress in black and white, you are dressed in the same colours as the flags of ISIS and Taliban Afghanistan, which are not political associations that should be accepted in Scotland. Black by itself is also out, since that often represents mourning (for a well-functioning democracy, for example).

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 22:42

Cloaks of invisibility? Hair shirts? Full gimp suit?

Apollo442 · 15/11/2022 22:45

I'd think a gimp suit perfectly sums up the SNP and Green.

You've missed that the LGB Alliance tends to use black and whiteShock

Labour SNP and Greens voted against amendments to stop sex offenders from abusing the GRC process.

Sorry, but I thought that deserved to be reposted in bold. I'd put it in big fuck off letters if I knew how.

However - having hopefully resolved the issue of what women may or may not wear and enjoyed Marge's comic interlude, unfortunately this is what we need to reiterate now.
How could they?Angry

If MargaritaPie didn't exist it would be necessary for us to invent him.

RhannionKPSS · 16/11/2022 13:29

Let’s not forget that the committee VOTED AGAINST the amendment which would have stopped sex offenders, rapists & murderers applying for a GRC, let that fact sink in. The scarf being an issue was merely a symbol of the misogynistic Parliament.
Labour MSPs said “ oh don’t worry, it will be sorted at the amendment stage”

Liars, cowards, misogynists, weirdos and perverts are in power in Scotland at the moment.

Women returning to the Chamber after the break told they would not be readmitted if they are wearing purple, green and white.

What if one wore purple, one wore green and one wore white & they sat together?
This policing of what women wear strikes me as the thin end of a very horrible wedge.

Would help if other MSPs (men included) wore these colours too.

Yes. This is important to remember.

We did that both at the GRC hearings, the debate at the main hall and on Tuesday, nothing was said about our clothes, just the scarves.
