The Committee are currently meeting at the Scottish Parliament today to discuss the suggested amendments to the GRA (Stage 2.) A feminist has been told to remove her scarf (knitted in stripes of suffragette colours - no other slogans, badges etc) or leave. She chose to leave. Meanwhile rainbow lanyards are being worn by Committee members who are discussing the amendments.

That must be a wind-up.
What if you just happen to like wearing purple, green and white?!

Well, quite. Seems to be happening though.

The contempt can't be clearer can it?

Then ban rainbows. Oh, they won't

Pixiedust1234 · 15/11/2022 11:41

Good grief. This is one of those things that a scriptwriter would say is too unbelievable, too far out, to be made into a film. And yet...

I hope one of your newspapers picks this up.

ResisterRex · 15/11/2022 11:40

Yes. And the colour Red. Or Yellow. Or Blue.

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 11:41

Oh, or Green.

A woman wearing a purple silk scarf was told she would need to remove it if she wanted to stay to hear the debate.

Just purple.

'It seems no rule has been broken so this woman should be readmitted or the Scotparl could face a claim of discrimination on the grounds of belief, particularly where MSPs are permitted to wear rainbow colours. This is not my Scotland.'

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 11:44

Maggie Chapman's in a purple T shirt, there.

Best just kick all the women out, in case they are harbouring seditious thoughts about women's rights, eh?

notstoppingnow · 15/11/2022 11:44

Is it ok to wear purple knickers or will they be policing that too? Since they seem to be so bloody anti-women.

Pixiedust1234 · 15/11/2022 11:49

“You can buy items bearing suffragette colours in the Scottish Parliament gift shop but for some baffling reason, you can’t wear these colours while listening to a committee. - from herald link

Can we start taking bets on how long those items remain for sale? I reckon by end of tomorrow they will be gone.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 15/11/2022 11:49

said MSP Russell Findlay

Is it possible that the problem was the. Witches women wearing the scarves rather than the scarves themselves?

that kind of seems worse, no?

ResisterRex · 15/11/2022 11:49

Women may as well go in black, to mark we are in mourning for democracy and our rights

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 11:50

It seems clear that women getting involved in politics just causes trouble. For some reason the image of a Queen Bee is coming into my head.

RealFeminist · 15/11/2022 11:51

ANY WOMEN WEARING PURPLE ARE OBVIOUSLY STIRRING

BettyFilous · 15/11/2022 11:52

If purple and green are out, are the red handmaid bonnets and cloaks a hard no too? I thought those were effective in some the US state legislature abortion hearings a couple of years ago.

KittensNotMittens · 15/11/2022 11:53

I’m seeing at least one women in the background in a snazzy purple and green scarf.

Waitwhat23 · 15/11/2022 11:53

And that's not even getting into the horrendous situation with the amendments. Amendment to keep age at 18 - rejected. I can't believe that Findlay's amendments have been rejected. It beggars belief.

Labour abstained!!

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 12:00

I fully expected all the Amendments to be rejected.

This is going through in all its most extreme glory.

Labour's clever plan to fix all the massive glaring issues with amendments was never going to work.

ArabellaScott · 15/11/2022 12:01

Labour are playing Pontious Pilate.

Apollo442 · 15/11/2022 12:02

Simply refuse to leave. A woman being manhandled out of the chamber for wearing suffragette colours would be golden publicity. Infact the more that do it the better.

Cailin66 · 15/11/2022 12:04

Bet anything all the rainbow laynards will be gone after the break !

I wish the brave women had made them physically eject her. What women should do from now on is wear one of the colours, like a purple t shirt with a green pants etc.
