The Committee are currently meeting at the Scottish Parliament today to discuss the suggested amendments to the GRA (Stage 2.) A feminist has been told to remove her scarf (knitted in stripes of suffragette colours - no other slogans, badges etc) or leave. She chose to leave. Meanwhile rainbow lanyards are being worn by Committee members who are discussing the amendments.

I made a point of wearing my purple jacket which I put back on after the Scarfgate incident 💚🤍💜 & Chapman, Fitzpatrick are getting the benefit of my Paddington hard stares.

I'm sure this picture must be photoshopped

My lanyard is purple white and green. People always comment how pretty it is. Little do they know it’s actually now recognised by the Scottish gvt as a WMD.

Please can you tell me where you got it.

Yes the scarf stuff is symbolic and annoying but I only just discovered this committee meeting was being televised and am horrified that all the amendments are being rejected. I thought there might be some amendment to the age? But nothing has substantially changed has it? It's just going to sail through isn't it?

Depressed beyond words to be living in Scotland...

Oh and if she'd said her scarf was based on the Genderqueer flag would she have got away with it? Same colours.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/11/2022 12:31

The suffragette colours are very specifically a symbol of women claiming the right to equal representation in the U.K. political system. That's what the suffragettes demanded - votes for women. Representation, a voice.

How is that now in any way controversial?

pontefractals · 15/11/2022 12:37

That is lovely, but I'm horribly afraid to say I'd be careful where I wore it - no breakaway clasp that I can see. I hate that that was my second thought on looking at it 😡

Buzzinwithbez · 15/11/2022 12:42

Who is the woman in the purple top?
Does the rainbowness of the lanyard negate the purpleness of the top?

NewsnightThumbs · 15/11/2022 12:46

What on earth will they do with this woman in the purple top and rainbow lanyard? Confused

Despite all the flannel from various MSP's (those who bothered to respond to letters from constituents that is), I'm depressed but unsurprised that all the 'we have concerns and will make sure these are ironed out during the amendments process' was unadulterated pish.

And I've seen some particularly dim-witted TRA's claim that the colours of the genderqueer flag were appropriated by...the suffragettes.

Where do you even begin?

That must be a wind-up.
What if you just happen to like wearing purple, green and white?!

It's Lucy Hunter-Blackburn who reported this so I would say it is true. Apparently the women were wearing white purple and green tartan - which she points out is the colours of the official tartan of the Scottish Assembly. You just couldn't make this up............

lanadelgrey · 15/11/2022 12:59

Is there a public gallery? Women in purple, green and white or individual colours but arranged in rows?

Stupid twats. We don't need to do anything - they hamstring themselves with their idiocy.

Except one of the women asked to leave today was wearing a scarf that was only purple.

Even individual colours are being policed.

nilsmousehammer · 15/11/2022 13:29

Ah.

Openly against women having equal rights.
Openly politically affiliated to one partisan extremist group lobby
Openly prejudiced towards and discriminatory against some protected beliefs.

Got it.

When will the court case be starting that this lot are unfit to govern within the UK?

Treaclemine · 15/11/2022 13:35

"Right, you object to my colours? I'll take them off..."

Surely this? Should we be reporting to UK gov? To echr? Seriously how can this be allowed in the UK?

Polyester, of course. £5 it's made in China.

Let's face it, it's women that are the problem, not the colours they are wearing.

The middle one - I’m pretty sure I saw them on the session video. What a load of snakes.
