Anyone watching Friday Night Live? She’s just announced she is “gay”. Is this a deliberate move away from lesbians who are increasingly being targeted for being gc?

‘Was it on this thread that a PP pointed out that drag queens have asked NOT to have to provide a DBS check when working in schools etc?’

Visitors to school don’t need a DBS - that includes any kind of performer or workshop provider as they’re coming in on a one off basis.
I have volunteered in schools on a casual basis doing workshops without one. You wear a different coloured visitor badge/ lanyard and cannot move about the school without a teacher. But we come in, go to one room, set up, run the workshop with staff present regardless of DBS or not.
I now regularly volunteer with the same charity, going into schools. I have an enhanced DBS . Still supervised by school staff regardless.
so I can see why there would be an objection to demands for drag queens in particular to have DBS checks for one off workshops.
mother performers would not be expected to have one.

Other performers.

Asking that ANYONE going into a school for a one off reason is impractical. But if you were regularly going into schools or worked for a company that went in it’s good practice to have one.
they aren’t a fail safe though. A clear DBS just means someone hasn’t been caught - look at all the teachers, police etc who’ve been convicted of crimes against children.
A DBS is only one layer of protection, and certainly a lot less important than others.

The only bit I laughed at was Ade Edmondson: "Thatcher's dead!"

I don’t much care how she labels herself, just so long as she doesn’t label herself as funny or entertaining.

I totally agree.

I know her disability makes her speech difficult but you are just waiting for her to say the most obvious thing, not remotely funny.

Was it on this thread the poster asked about activists rubbishing women's faith and culture to destroy their equality act protections against males using them however they wanted?

Do go and check out the 'Hospital refuses to operate after woman requests all-female care' thread, pages 25 onwards. There's an exceptionally ugly demonstration going on in real time.

Yes. It is a live demonstration.

Religions that say that woman should not be alone with males they have not given permission to or who should not allow them to touch her are not worthy of respect apparently.

"Looks like some posters have forgotten that religious beliefs shouldn’t be defended when they are used to cause harm to women and undermine their autonomy."

The point being that specifying that women should not be alone with male she does not give permission to or allowing that male to touch her is automatically one causing harm to women and undermining their autonomy?

Because why? Maybe because such posters declare that any woman should automatically wish to be left alone with any male and to allow any male to touch her? Sounds more like a MRA type argument to me than one about the realities of women who choose their religious beliefs or who have no option but to follow a belief due to their lack of other options.

nilsmousehammer · 24/10/2022 14:54

Rooted in an MRA belief of entitlement to prescribe and control what a female may or may not believe or how she may live.

But all of this enacted largely as a lot of distraction from the central point, which is preventing females legally having any ability to say no when a male wants access to their body.

So we have: You can't have that faith, it gets in the way of males doing what they want with/to you
You cant have that sexuality, it gets in the way of males doing what they want with/to you
You can't have that space
You can't have that group
You can't safeguard those children

There's one theme here. Just one. It's dressed up in an absolute snowstorm of hyperbole and word salad to try and make it sound in any way justifiable but there's the one single theme at the heart.
