The antipodean fruit growers site is down. A statement from the owner reads in part:

What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [redacted by me as would be against MN talk guidelines] while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which criticizes [redacted], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead.

GreyCouncil, you seem to argue that defending free speech automatically means harassing and doxing people.

That's a very sinister attitude of yours.

That we cannot defend free speech, in case we upset people who are trying to shut down our free speech?

And that we cannot defend free speech when it involves identifying people who are actively seeking to shut down free speech?

Defending free speech is just that - defending free speech. We don't have to agree with all the free speech, by any means. We are very probably never ever going to all agree with all the free speech expressed by all people.

But we do have to agree that all people are free to say their opinions, and for other people to be free, if they choose, to discuss, argue, gather evidence, seek information, etc.

For the good of humanity as a whole.

Otherwise, we get certain groups in society who are given authority to shut down what they don't want to hear, what they don't want other people to talk about. And they cancel those people with whom they disagree. Hounding them from their jobs. Closing down their businesses.

Anyone who ever studied 20th century history at school, can recognise the pattern.

So some of the statements made by new posters seem slightly unlikely.

Absolutely, some of the post here are downright scandalous, Kiwifarms is known across the net for its fine, upstanding and decent contributors.

It's outrageous how some of the 'new posters' here are portraying it in such a bad light.

Not one person has blamed the bullying and harrassment of Chris Chan or the horrific crime he committed against his mother on feminism.

I've been on the site twice after I read about it here and I was shocked at what I saw. It was vile, misgynistic and downright abusive towards the people discussed there.

It sounds like there are some people calling themselves feminists on there but the people abusing Chris Chan were definitely not feminists.

...but they really hate the trans so we must defend.

So if doxing, harassment and abuse aren’t free speech, why are you here telling us that we shouldn’t support free speech? You are being very slippery here.

We've even got paedophiles on Twitter calling themsleves MAPs (Minor Attracted Persons), and giving the preferred ages of their prey. Very happily, they are a community. Twitter supports them.

(And as an aside: it would be far more honest of themselves to be even more plain-speaking, and to call themselves MAM - Minor Attracted Men. Because extremely few women are involved in such identities. Calling themselves "persons" is fudging who they really are: men. But, I suppose, just imagine them trying to call themselves MAMs!!!)

Just before the site went down I saw a thread where someone was posting the full names of website owners who allow GC discussion.

I don't know if they were real, but there was about a dozen of them. I'd be very nervous if I was them.
