The antipodean fruit growers site is down. A statement from the owner reads in part:

What I fear more than losing my site, being sued, or dealing with police is living in a world where [redacted by me as would be against MN talk guidelines] while normal people are not allowed to even discuss it.

The mob has already planned subsequent targets. Should we stay down, they will then attack 'gender critical' communities - especially those ran by and for women. No place can exist online which criticizes [redacted], and nothing would excite them more than this power and domination struggle being inflicted on a female space instead.

Real sealioning is obvious trolling to waste people's time and wind them up, but some people's relatively good faith questioning can seem like it, especially when they obviously don't agree with your position from the start.

I think the gender debate is quite unusual in that people genuinely need to know what basic English words mean to the person using them, so it can seem facetious or something to say 'what exactly do you mean when you say 'a man'?' but it's actually essential to set this out at the beginning otherwise everyone's wasting each other's time saying that a man is a person who wears trousers etc.

It's not super concerning for Kiwi Farms' content, because it's still up, and I think we can trust Null to release his own archive if it's ever not up.

So Taylor is a "next generation" journalist. The equivalent of a full-time woke Twitter bully, except with a real job at a national news org. I expect more will emulate her inspiring example.

I'd say the entire "western" world is extremely screwed at present, it's going to get worse before it gets better, and it's going to do so faster than 99% of us would believe. Still, I'm not one to say it's over until everyone is sure it is.

I suppose the doxing Taylor Lorenz does is different because....

All's kind of quiet at the moment - Null did his regular weekly stream on Friday, but much of that was just him laughing at the coverage and portrayals of the site from assorted YouTube clips.

Site's currently up and down in its various addresses, due to ongoing attacks, which he doesn't have the infrastructure to fully hold off. As CloudFlare themselves described it, they've withdrawn the fire protection, so the arsonists are hard at work, and causing quite a bit of disruption.

But he's very optimistic - that previous comment wasn't sarcastic. It would appear he's found significant new infrastructure support thanks to the high profile of the CloudFlare shambles, and is expecting to be able to get things working a lot better next week.

(I'm guessing some outfit wants to take KiwiFarms on as an advert of their reliability and trustworthiness and ability to stand up to Woke mobs, in contrast to CloudFlare. There's clearly room to differentiate yourself for a brave company).

Null normally does just clown around, as he was mostly doing in that stream, but I was reminded of two serious articles he wrote last year, which are worth reading.

First one is directly relevant to the current situation, the second more gives some insight into the legal tightrope he walks.

Random aside to fill time. One of the oddest things I saw about the KF thing was a headline saying that they harassed "feminists and trans people". So quite even-handed, apparently.

But (a) what feminists are they thinking of? I don't recall ever seeing any "feminists" discussed on KF. Unsurprising, as they're just not that funny, usually, don't tend to cause huge drama, and don't post that many dodgy pics of themselves.

Or is "feminists" a euphemism for "women", seeing as they're not allowed to say "women and trans people", but want to make clear some actual female people have threads, not just males like all the "trans people" involved in the takedown?

And (b) do you feel safer from reduced KF "harassment" now?
