Kelly-Jay Keen has been visited by the police, accused of "being untoward about paedophiles".
Yes, really.

You find it in poor taste to be against paedophiles?

Right you are.

Don't be obtuse; it's not a good look. I find it in poor taste to walk around in a t-shirt with the word "paedophile" on it. Not to be against paedophiles.

Well, don't buy one then.

I think the police were just fulfilling what they do with these things, she said they said they done what they needed to and had "advised" her. So they weren't charging her with any crime at that point, so no need for legal language.

But they don't have to notify you, do they? I think it was Sarah Philimore who only found out she was on the naughty list because she raised a Subject Access Request.

Don't get me wrong, I think that they should tell you if they're keeping data on you, but why tell her if they don't have to? Unless I've got the Sarah P thing wrong or they've changed the way they do it.

Just seen this response from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire

FemaleAndLearning · 26/07/2022 18:30

That seems a sensible response.

Not being funny, but why would anyone want to wear a t-shirt with the word "paedophile" on it, regardless of the context?

It's not even something I'd wear in my house, let alone to the supermarket or gym.

Thanks, your post made me go and have a look and I've just ordered one.

Well, that was quite a lot of words to say absolutely nothing.

Artichokeleaves · 26/07/2022 20:05

Wasn't it just.

No I mean that they had told the complainant they would "advise" KJK that she had offended them.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 27/07/2022 12:10

OMG @PearlClench i love that t-shirt!

When the media staff want to be brave they explain to senior management that the only right choice is to the turn off the replies

They acknowledge their response was “not wholly proportionate” but you have to look very hard for that - it’s a sorry not sorry apology

wantmorenow · 27/07/2022 19:25

Comments turned off.🤐😫

Also does it not seem inappropriate to give out her location?

CrossStichQueen · 27/07/2022 20:19

Well all those who said "it didn't happen" are suddenly very quiet....

MrsOvertonsWindow · 27/07/2022 20:36

That's another win today. Wiltshire have effectively admitted that they went off half cock and made an inappropriate intervention that is not in line with national guidance

It's exhausting that the police are having to be dragged back from their current intolerant MacCarthyist behaviour to behaving in a way that is appropriate for a democracy.

And they referred to newly revised hate crime incident material from the CoP—this gets slightly complicated because the 'well-intentioned' but wrong officers in question do seem to have erroneously referred to a "hate crime incident" rather than (equally erroneously) informing KJK of a "non-crime hate incident."

SpindleInTheWind · 27/07/2022 21:08

Crossing over from the Allison Bailey thread (and today's judgement), the Police further need to take this into account. This from the core analysis by Sex Matters:

The new element in this case was that she suffered discrimination for the particular belief that Stonewall’s campaigning, based on the doctrine that “trans women are women”, is sexist and homophobic and is driving forward the erosion of women’s rights, access to single-sex spaces and lesbian identity.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather talk about the outrageous intimidation tactics of weaponising the police against women, and their outrageous collusion with it, than the same irrelevant, lazy deflections certain people post on every thread.

Yes why do the police do this?

No, he's being very precise. He was behind the withdrawal of the recording and has, I think, written to College of Policing to criticise the lack of clarity around their guidance.

The thing is, it sounds like a parody piss take. I'd definitely have thought twice about using that acronym!
