Kelly-Jay Keen has been visited by the police, accused of "being untoward about paedophiles".
Yes, really.

OP posts:

So are Wiltshire police protecting the hurt feelings of paedophiles now? Mums have to fear the police if they say loudly 'we don't like people who rape and sexually abuse children'?

Do they know that paedophilia is illegal? Poor kids that live in Wiltshire....

SpindleInTheWind · 24/07/2022 19:50

It might be worth writing to Philip Wilkinson, the elected Police and Crime Commissioner (Con).

He's one of the PCCs who supported Lisa Townsend, the Surrey PCC, who spoke out against the new Stonewall ideology (and then stood up to Crispin Blunt MP).

I would like the PCC's transparent account of what he understands happened and why.

blahblahblahspoons · 24/07/2022 19:50

Imagine if someone made a video that said 'bank robbers are bad' and then the POLICE visited the VIDEO MAKER for HURTING THE FEELINGS OF BANK ROBBERS

You really couldn't make it up. If a comedy writer wrote this, you'd say they'd gone too far.

Floisme · 24/07/2022 19:51

I’m inclined to wait till I’ve seen exactly what was said before I form any judgement, but I’m troubled that the police didn’t seem to think to do the same.

Paedophilia is not illegal. It's not a crime to experience sexual attraction towards children.

It IS a crime to commit sexual offences against children. That's a very crucial difference.

I'm not sure why the police didn't watch the video before turning up at her address and I'd be interested in hearing the conversation in full and the exact nature of the complaint.

FemaleAndLearning · 24/07/2022 19:56

She may have said this in one of her videos according to someone on her you tube comments. Seems fair enough to me.

A child rapist who has repeatedly breached the conditions of court orders has been spared an immediate jail sentence due to ‘prison safety concerns’.

28-year-old Alex Smith, who is transitioning from male to female and is formally known as Matthew Burren, appeared before Swindon Magistrates’ Court for sentencing after admitting breaching her Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) in March.

As first reported by Wiltshire 999s last month, the defendant was arrested at her home in Beaulieu Close, Toothill, on 1 March following an unannounced visit by police.

(continues)

The court heard she had previously breached the conditions of SHPOs on several occasions.

District Judge Joanna Dickens said: “This is a really serious offence. It is thought, quite rightly, that you present a danger to children. The danger is, you will ruin people’s lives.

“It’s [the SHPO] not been made to punish you, really it’s been made to protect other people.

“If you add devices to your router and don’t declare them, people are going to think you’re going to use them to groom children.

“Clearly, things have happened to you, which are very sad and you’ve had difficulties.

“I’m not going to send you to prison today, and the reason for that is because you have very very complicated issues. You’re currently undergoing gender reassignment… I would be very concerned about your safety.

“You are very very very vulnerable. That’s the only reason I am not sending you to prison. If you were not vunrable, I would probably send you to prison.

“Other people are made vulnerable by you. You have got to stop this offencing. You need to know if you commit and more offences, you will go to prison.

“If I am in this court again, and you commit further offences, I won’t want to, but I will send you to prison.”

Judge Dickens imposed a 26-week prison sentence but suspended it for two years.

She also ordered Smith to complete 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days and imposed a new – indefinite – SHPO. The terms include the prohibition of approaching children under the age of 16 and allowing a child to enter or stay at her home address, amongst many other strict conditions.

As reported by Wiltshire 999s

If someone said 'paedophilia is just a sexuality'.... well, I'd have thought that would be 'being untoward about paedoohilia'. (Well, something stronger than 'untoward', tbh.

So the police are incompetent in Wiltshire and a judge is more concerned about the alleged vulnerability of a repeat transgender paedophile who she says is a danger to children, rather than protecting children from said paedophile? Meanwhile the police can send 2 police officers to challenge KJK because she's said something critical about a paedophile?
Have I got that right?

Perfectly correct, MrsOvertonsWindow!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/07/2022 20:10

I’ll just tick “dragging in random right wing politicians from USA into a discussion on a British board about something occurring in Britain to a British person involving the British police” off the bingo card

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/07/2022 20:11

She may have said this in one of her videos according to someone on her you tube comments.

I don't think that "transcribed screenshot" means that is what she said in her video. I read it as just something generic someone saw on Twitter or similar and wanted to share.

I completely agree and im not trying to be funny but surely you’d only know if someone was actually a paedophile if they’d done something (I’m excluding accusations based on nothing)

The judgement said that the doctors could say whether the child was competent but they could be sued if the child later turned around and said they weren't. Good luck with getting ANY doctor to agree.

DOBARDAN · 24/07/2022 20:20

This is just so outrageous, I'm having a hard time getting my head around what has happened.

I know KJK is no fool, but to me it's almost like this was a wind up.

The police who turned up on KJK's doorstep did show her their ID?

They were the real police weren't they ... ?

yep

from the video it looks as if KJK has had a 'hate incident' recorded against her without anyone even bothering to review the evdidence

can't be right can it?

Probably, unless they were trying to e.g. seek professional help I suppose, but I was responding to a poster who said paedophilia is illegal, which it isn't.

I don't know the context of what KJK is alleged to have said or the exact nature of the complaint against her or how much has been lost in translation between the complainant - central police - police officers - her - her YouTube video but I'd be very interested in finding out exactly what this is all about.

If someone's made an accusation she's been slanderous towards them (e.g. accusing them of being a paedophile) then that's quite serious. If someone's taken offence at something because they think it's rude towards paeodophiles then that's baffling to me.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 24/07/2022 20:26

yes I understand that…which is exactly why i said i agreed with you…you are completely correct about thoughts not being a crime

i was just wondering

GrinitchSpinach · 24/07/2022 20:32

I was concerned to hear that the police attending asked KJK's minor child (according to KJK) several times for the child's name. Neither mother nor daughter gave it, apparently.

What was their (the police's) plan? Record a non-crime hate incident against the child for residing with an alleged non-crime hate incident-committing parent?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 24/07/2022 20:33

I find attempts to sidetrack this thread onto Gillick and Fraser competency particularly ironic when the attempts immediately follow a discussion of a 28 year old repeat sexual offender being considered too vulnerable to go to prison for infringing [name's] Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Because transgender identity.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/07/2022 20:39

Judging by what she said in her video, I don't think either she or the police officers knew.

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 24/07/2022 20:47

I would love to see what the Hate Incident log says.

Since pedophilia isn't a protected characteristic yet (at least not in UK hate crime law, I know Twitter and Reddit are ahead of the game here) I assume she actually made a point about paraphilias clustering or something and it's been recorded as an anti-trans hate crime?

Probably they didn't type "being untoward about paedophiles" into the computer system that recorded a Hate Incident against KJK's name, but if they did, we can all have a good laugh as we slide into totalitarianism.

IStandWithMaya · 24/07/2022 20:51

Kelly-Jay Keen is brilliant.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 24/07/2022 21:01

I wonder how many people get visits like this from the police?

Is it really common?
