If you have a Conservative MP and want to protect the rights of women and safeguard children please email them TONIGHT and ask them to support Kemi.

Penny Mordaunt still the bookies favourite (and they aren't often wrong) but we need to let everyone know how dangerous it will be for this woman to become PM; I don't believe she has changed her mind for one moment.

Yes, much like JKR any concern for Women's rights gets you labelled as transphobic. It doesn't wash any more.

Totally agree, Laurence Fox gets the same nonsense thrown at him too.

LK1972 · 21/07/2022 12:00

@jgw1 so you reckon Reclaim are fascists, like BNP, is that why she should have unequivocally denounced their endorsement?

I have not studied the policies of Reclaim closely enough to be able to answer the question as to whether they are fascists. The twitter feed is very interesting though, and I have enjoyed reading it through this morning.

As to whether Kemi would want to denounce their endorsement that is up to her, and whether she thinks Reclaim's views are sufficiently abhorrent to reject their endorsement.

jgw1 · 21/07/2022 12:20

Floisme · 21/07/2022 12:09

Ok I think we might be edging a bit closer:

Firstly you do not think KB is responsible for Reclaim's endorsement. I'm pleased we've now established that.

Secondly, when you raised the issue of Reclaim's endorsement, you did not intend for that to imply any criticism of KB?

Correct?

If you scroll back through the thread you will find it was not I who raised Reclaim's endorsement.

Thanks for the link to the Paul Embery article btw- I enjoyed it

WarriorN · 21/07/2022 12:02

What would you like evidence of WarriorN

That the video doesn't represent U.K. pshe lessons please.

Every UK school publishes its PSHE policy on its website as it is required to do. How many of them would you like me to link to as evidence?

On this page you can find one I have randomly picked.

www.kaacademy.org/parents/policies/

Now I accept I have not read it all through, but I am utterly confident that it bears no relation to the sorts of PSHE lessons suggested in the video.

My apologies, you did not raise the issue. This was your comment:
Shouldn't Kemi be proud of having all these good people endorsing her?

You are saying you did not intend this comment to imply that KB was in any way responsible for the 'good people' (your words) endorsing her?
And that you did not intend that post to imply any criticism of her?

It would be really great to clear this up before we get to the end of the thread.

WarriorN · 21/07/2022 12:35

Exactly, that's one.

SSAUK have detailed breakdowns of schemes where what's described in the video is happening, pointing out inaccuracies and issues.

They get contacted weekly by parents - see their #safeguardingfail twitter feed.

I picked up a worksheet in our partner school a couple of weeks ago that had completely misleading and incorrect "facts" about what trans is.

There have been countless threads on here detailing issues with pshe, including a thread where concerned teachers posted the BS theyd seen being taught.

Your statement is purely your opinion, with one school actually following the dfe guidance; (and many are) it isn't evidenced fact. You've cherry picked one to support your opinion.

An absolute absence of any evidence of schools teaching what bus described in the video would prove its inaccurate. Unfortunately this is not the case.

WarriorN · 21/07/2022 13:12

Worth listening to this episode after reading this thread:

WarriorN · 21/07/2022 13:16

Sorry, long history of argument with Rory Stewart

MarshaBradyo · 21/07/2022 13:17

I listened to the episode Warrior it’s excellent

MrsOvertonsWindow · 21/07/2022 13:22

Here's a woman who's done her research about the inappropriate nature of too many sex ed providers currently flogging their ideas to schools:

www.miriamcates.org.uk/news/relationship-and-sex-education-schools

An kudos to so many posters for spending so much time responding to those with a tenuous grasp of facts, democratic values, free speech and women's rights. This thread has been an education.

jgw1 · 21/07/2022 11:54

A poster was asking for an example of the perfectly usual process in political campaigns of endorsements that had been rejected, so I provided one.

No. Don't lie. I asked you to explain what you meant by a snarky comment that implied Kemi was somehow aligned with Reclaim because they had endorsed her. It was one of a series of snarky little comments with similar implications. I asked you to speak clearly and explain yourself many times. You refused, or were unable to.

Floisme · 21/07/2022 12:33

My question was asking those who raised Kemi's endorsement by Reclaim and others who were discussing it, whether they thought she should be proud of having that endorsement. The aim was to further my understanding of the question.

Floisme · 21/07/2022 14:23

jgw1 the thread is filling up and I grow old.

I'm sure you must want to clarify before we run out of time?

How about a simple 'No' (aka 'I did not intend my comment to imply that KB was responsible for the 'good people' (your words) endorsing her? Or for my comment to imply any criticism of KB')
Or 'Yes' (aka 'I did intend my comment to imply the above'.)

You've contributed so much to this thread and it would be so sad if it ended without us knowing exactly what you meant.

Which statement is purely my opinion?

I am pleased that I have managed to pick a school at random in a town I have never been to that you are happy is evidence that the DfE's PSHE guidelines are being followed. How many more would you like me to find?

@Floisme I think you may have missed my earlier post.

Perhaps also you missed the one where I explained what candidates in elections normally do with endorsements?

On a big campaign a candidate will have one or more members of staff dedicated to securing endorsements and publicizing them, and rebutting those they don't like. I do not know as I have not been involved in a Tory party leadership campaign whether they have someone dedicated to that role, I suspect it is more likely that it is a part of someones role who also has other areas of responsibility.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/07/2022 14:47

Miriam Cates is excellent, I was just telling someone about her.

Floisme · 21/07/2022 14:55

jgwi is that a yes or a no?

Dare I think it sounds like a no?

By the way, in case anyone is wondering why I am being so persistent with jgw1, it's because for me this cuts to the heart of the whole 'guilt by association' tactic that we see used so often on these boards.

And while I really don't want to make any assumptions, if I were jgw1 and I had made comments on this thread that seem to echo some of Laurence Fox's thoughts (on diversity of opinion) then I would be keen to distance myself from such a tactic.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/07/2022 14:55

I don't normally speculate on the sex of fellow posters. I tend to assume everyone is a woman (very refreshing to have a female default), but JGW1 reads so male to me. I'm wondering why that is?

The argumentativeness possibly, or having all the time in the world for an insousciant trip around the point, almost but never quite getting there

or the view that they are perfectly entitled to waste everyone's time

like I said, can't quite put my finger on it....

GCworld · 21/07/2022 15:01

The argumentativeness possibly

So women aren't supposed to be argumentative, we'll just sit here in the corner looking pretty and staying silent then.

😒

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/07/2022 15:04

yes, good point

it must be the sense of entitlement

@Floisme is what a yes or a no?

Kemi has been endorsed by Reclaim and Lawrence Fox.
I asked whether she was proud of that endorsement, because I did not know the answer.
Further research has shown me that Kemi has retweeted endorsements from many people, but not those from Reclaim and Lawrence Fox.
Why that is we could spend time speculating about if you like, but I would suggest that it at least shows she is less proud of that endorsement than those that she has retweeted.

MarshaBradyo · 21/07/2022 15:06

I have no idea about the sex of anyone unless they state, although I do usually presume female

But the left appear to assume superiority which leads to sarcasm, quips or refusing to answer

Combined with a lack at addressing racism, comes across badly on this thread

MarshaBradyo · 21/07/2022 15:08
