Apparently Fina's ruling is "not on". Speaking at the British LGBT Awards Daley said: "I was furious. You know, like most queer people, anyone that's told that they can't do something they love just because of who they are, it's not on. It's something I feel really strongly about. Giving trans people the chance to share their side."

No one is stopping trans people competing Tom. Just stopping them from competing unfairly in the wrong sex category. Trans women are free to compete in the male category and will also be in future if sport decides to have an open category.

Should we be surprised at his attitude? Not really, after all he thinks it's OK to rent a woman's body to produce a baby for him and his partner. He seemed to know what sex was then.

It's very popular with gay male couples. Really underlines how little they think about the child in all this

why do they do it though?

is it some male ego thing? They know one of them isn’t biologically related, so it’s hardly news.

plus for medical history etc they would be better knowing.

or is it some attempt to completely erase the mum from the biological picture?

My ex colleague claimed they did it to ensure the baby was loved equally by them both.

That's awful.

Well that’s silly - that they didn’t feel they could ‘love’ the baby unless they had some chance of being it’s biological father. It’s interesting how ‘biology doesn’t matter, love is all you need’ when it comes to depriving the baby of knowing its
mother though…

@Needmoresleep
Wonder how they manged to do that? If gender is assigned at birth, nobody could possible know what the embryos were. If gender is a feeling, he had no idea what way the embryos will identify.
Amazing how quickly the TRAs arguments fall apart when the reality of life creeps into their existence.

There was an idiot on the other night who knew transwomen are women, but didn't know what a woman is.

I think the level of the farce is finally dawning on people.

BinBandit · 29/06/2022 18:51

I saw someone actually talking about how these men can possibly know what it feels like to be a woman. I'm mean they aren't women but know how it feels compared to what? I couldn't describe how it feels to be a woman, I could only have a go at describing what it feels like to be me and I'm sure that's not the same as every other woman feels. For sure there will be some commonalities it you got every woman to do it and compare notes but I can guarantee that there will be as many matches with how men feel to be a man.

I think what they mean is that they enjoy pursuits and interests more normally associated with women so in other words subscribe to a social construct that splits gender interests by sex. That's a bit binary is it not?

It's also a load of bollo*k. It will be obviously very soon in a few months after birth when their facial features develop who fathered the child.
Also, who goes on the birth cert as father? What is the point of a birth cert if it doesn't give correct information.

WalkerWalking · 29/06/2022 19:21

The refusal to know who the biological father is just shows the level to which this all about the parents. If genetics are important enough that they don't want to risk knowing for certain that they aren't the bio dad, then presumably these same genetics are also important enough for the child to actually want to know that same information?

And of course, while the genetic link to bio father is incredibly important, the genetic link to bio mother and/or surrogate is presumably completely meaningless 🙄

Because legal/factual documents are, like everything else, affirmative items that no longer need to reflect reality or truth

Reality isn't there to serve the fragile egos of those who can afford to buy babies.

I notice he's locked down his Twitter account now. Too many people telling you how wrong you are, Tom?

ReneBumsWombats · 30/06/2022 11:19

James Felton does that every time he wants to talk shite. By the way, DID YOU KNOW HE'S GOT A BOOK OUT? DID HE HAPPEN TO MENTION THAT???

Funnily enough, despite the unbelievable amount of misogynistic abuse she always gets, I don't think I've ever seen JKR lock down or restrict responses to her tweets.

SidewaysOtter · 30/06/2022 11:30

Because she's got the courage of her convictions and balls of iron and is strong enough to be able to ride out the flack that comes her way.

She's probably also giving them enough rope to hang themselves. She just lets them show themselves up over and over again.

Disappointingly thoughtless, insensitive, and unempathetic.

Perhaps he secretly dislikes women.

I remain unconvinced that this is a secret.

He seems to only have time for them if they serve a functional need to him.

I'm not sure it's that much of. Secret

What is known about Tom Daly’s feelings in general towards women? Obviously he is not attracted to them, and now he has come out against protecting women’s swimming, but is there another reason you say that, Clymene?

I know you didn't ask me but since I agree... I think it says something that he knows how women differ from men when he wants to rent a womb, but claims there's no significant distinction when he wants to sabotage women's fair opportunities in sport. We exist when it suits him and not when it doesn't.

He thinks women are incubators and should have less rights as surrogates.

So he wants to actively remove rights from women and is campaigning for it, in order to extend his rights to babies for sale.
