Apparently Fina's ruling is "not on". Speaking at the British LGBT Awards Daley said: "I was furious. You know, like most queer people, anyone that's told that they can't do something they love just because of who they are, it's not on. It's something I feel really strongly about. Giving trans people the chance to share their side."

No one is stopping trans people competing Tom. Just stopping them from competing unfairly in the wrong sex category. Trans women are free to compete in the male category and will also be in future if sport decides to have an open category.

Should we be surprised at his attitude? Not really, after all he thinks it's OK to rent a woman's body to produce a baby for him and his partner. He seemed to know what sex was then.

Wonder if he'd be happy if a smaller trans man took all the diving medals?

He wasn't even all that as a diver.

He was one of the best in the world, wasn’t he, with Olympic medals?

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 27/06/2022 16:55

I don’t actually believe Tom Daley, Megan Rapinoe etc believe this horseshit. It’s all PR. But then their careers are established, and now they’ll be eyeing up the pundit circuit. They won’t be thrown under the bus.

334bu · 27/06/2022 17:02

Yes did get Olympic medals, still doesn't know what he is talking about with reference to female sports.

Presumably he feels equally outraged at Russian players being banned from Wimbeldon because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Afterall, its not their fault they are Russian and now they are being told they can't do what they love because of who they are.

He's done interviews about the homophobic abuse he's received, so I'm not sure he'd agree with you that he's faced no discrimination.

Abuse and discrimination aren't the same thing.

Being taunted as you walk to your well-paid job is rather different to being taunted as you go to the job centre to collect your dole money because you can't get a job because no-one will employ gay men.

HermioneKipper · 27/06/2022 18:16

He’s a jumped up little shit who suddenly knows the difference between men and women when it came time to buy a womb/baby.

Keep your beak out of women’s sport Tom. You entitled, woman hating bellend

MrGHardy · 27/06/2022 18:18

It must feel so good when you can create faux outrage and virtue signal over it.

Just wondering (not aimed at any particular poster)

Why is it that the opinion of a medal-winning Olympian who is part of the LGBT community can be dismissed (because he used a surrogate)

But.

Opinions of various misogynists (Boris Johnson, Matt Walsh) can be embraced and separated (by some) from their well-documented bigotry.

I know this has been answered many times, but here's my take.

Sharron Davies is a medal-winning Olympian swimmer, who has very strong opinions on the subject of males in female sport. She regularly trained with men.

Why is it that the opinion of a medal-winning Olympian who is part of the female community, and who has more experience of what is being discussed, is dismissed, or rather, ignored by Tom Daly?

We all know Johnson doesn't care about women, not even the ones he's been married to (or anyone other than himself, really), and that he is just band-wagoning on this, because not being able to define what a woman is is damaging Labour.

Why is Tom ignoring Sharon? Hmmm, let me think.

Nope, it won't come. Help me out here. What IS it about Sharon that might encourage Tom to ignore her? 🤔

She won't be growing any babies for him.

SweetSenorita · 27/06/2022 22:19

Sharron

Apologies for incorrect spelling in PP 🙏

notprincehamlet · 28/06/2022 00:12

Why don't you channel all that fury into knitting yourself a clue Tom, you clearly don't have one

LemonadeSunshine · 28/06/2022 00:15

'Furious'. Well shucks, let's just stop trying to reclaim fairness if it's making you furious.

Even though it literally doesn't affect you.
Bog off.

For those asking if diving could be a sport men and women could compete on an equal basis, these pictures emphasize the difference between male and female bodies. The male body is stronger and much more powerful than the female bodies. Lia Thomas is one of those bodies.

Men need to compete against men. The 28 yo trans woman skateboarder taking $500 in prize money from a 13 yo girl and a 10 yo girl coming in fifth is downright embarrassing. No shame at all. I guess testosterone and male characteristics are just his natural-born talent, no different from Michael Phelps's big feet. Try harder, children!

Forgot, a 16 yo girl came in third and a 12 yo came in sixth.

Thanks for the Spectator link. Some interesting articles from Debbie Hayton, from a transwoman perspective.

Why cant they just have a trans category?
ie. 500meters Females race, males race and trans race.

Because that wouldn't play along with the fantasy that TWAW.

But for some sports the women's category will become the trans category. But then they'd have to compel some women to compete to validate the TW.

TheTerfTavern · 28/06/2022 08:55

Fuck off Tom, you utter melt

Reallyreallyborednow · 28/06/2022 09:07

For comparison, here are the winning scores from the mens and women’s world cup 2021, featuring Tom Daley.

to note, the men do one more dive than the women- so look at womens total score, and mens after 5 dives:

Pandela- 355.70 after 5 dives
Tom- 437.30 after 5 dives.

also look at the DD column (dificulty). Toms hardest dive gives him 3.7, Pandela’s 3.2.
That’s a massive difference, more so when it’s taken across 5 dives.

Why doesn't Pandela just try harder and work more hours to financially support herself in the absence of competition prize money and sponsorship deals from coming first?

Fuck off Tom.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 28/06/2022 09:16

anyone that's told that they can't do something they love just because of who they are, it's not on

I see the support humans don't count as anyone being told they can't do something they love. Their job is just to silently and obediently walk away from their competitions, their teams, their careers and their futures at the slightest whim of the real anyones who get to do whatever they want. If only we could work out why they're so much more important...

Unfamiliar with the sport - can you confirm that these scores are directly comparable? No sex-based scoring differences?

Just wary of being misleading - potentially in either direction. Thinking of something like throwing events where the distances aren't directly comparable because the weights are different.
