Transwomen are really upset by HRT shortages

It makes their moods all over the place.

I mean us perimenopausal women take hrt for few other essential functions as well, but just as long as your moods are even mate.

You wouldn't deny someone with depression access to drugs that could potentially help them so why is this any different. Not to mention the effects of coming off HRT for Trans Women can be horrific

SpindleForTheWorld · 04/06/2022 17:32

Belovedfool · 04/06/2022 17:27

So...to go back to the original post, there's a severe shortage of HRT and I personally believe that anyone taking it for non medical reasons should have it stopped immediately. This would allow those who do need it for medical reasons to obtain it.

To do otherwise is inhuman.

I agree.

In particular, we have women in this country who have had their ovaries surgically removed for medical reasons, and who need Oetrogen Replacement Therapy urgently.

I would find it odd if anyone diagreed with that.

I would further argue that women should then be prioritised who have a need for H REPLACEMENT T (all types) for treatment and preventative reasons.

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:32

@CupidStunt22 Yeah I don't like the phrase either, it sounds really dumb. I'm just using it distinguish the 2

Belovedfool · 04/06/2022 17:33

Oh right, it's so much harder for tw.

Got it.

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:35

@CupidStunt22 It's isn't an offensive slur though so i'm a tad confused. I think you mean you just don't like the phrase which I guess makes sense

SpindleForTheWorld · 04/06/2022 17:35

@slowpoke5001 if you don't like the term can you please report your post with it in and ask MNHQ to remove your post with it in? I actually find it extremely offensive.

Pennox · 04/06/2022 17:38

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:30

@Belovedfool Why is taking HRT for Trans Women a "non medical reason".
Given that Trans Women with Gender Dysphoria are twice as likely to commit suicide due to Gender Dysphoria and discrimination.

twice as likely as who? evidence please

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:38

@Belovedfool I'm not saying that at all. I feel like i'm smashing my head against a brick wall at this point 😅

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:39

@Pennox www.suicideinfo.ca/resource/transgender-people-suicide/

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 04/06/2022 17:39

Why don’t you call your ‘Trans friend’ she rather than ‘they’, Slowpoke? Because she is a woman according to you, and women take the sacred pronoun ‘she’ . People (women on the whole) have been threatened with jail for misgendering like that.

Belovedfool · 04/06/2022 17:39

And I feel like I'm playing chess with a pigeon, so right back atcha, sister.

Pennox · 04/06/2022 17:40

cis IS an offensive slur - please see the MN guidelines and please stop repeatedly using it to people who tell you that they find it offensive and triggering (myself included)

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:41

Another study which has a better comparison: www.transgendertrend.com/the-suicide-myth/

JellySaurus · 04/06/2022 17:42

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:18

@JellySaurus What do you even mean by that? What just because someone doesn't have a dick they can't rape someone else.
Not to mention your excluding Trans Women who had surgery for their genitals.

Rape according to UK law is unconsenting penetration with a penis. Which tomboys and transmen do not have, as they are female. Which transwomen who do not physically transition do have. As for the small percentage of transwomen who choose to undergo penectomy, with or without formation of a pseudo-vagina orifice, how am I supposed to know whether or not they retain the equipment necessary to commit rape? Should they undergo genital inspection before they enter women's sex-segregated spaces?

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:42

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen because SHE has the pronouns She/They.

Pennox · 04/06/2022 17:43

The suicide stats are rubbish - please do some research.

the only reason a trans identifying person might be more likely to commit suicide than, say, me, is because they have mental health issues and depression to start with (hence the dysphoria) and are likely to have experienced homophobia and/or trauma in the past due to their sexuality.

JellySaurus · 04/06/2022 17:43

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:42

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen because SHE has the pronouns She/They.

What does that even mean?

Waitwhat23 · 04/06/2022 17:45

I've got to the point where comments which use the slur cis just turn into white noise. The same with the gender ideology terms AFAB/AMAB etc. If I was speaking to a religious person who kept referring to me as a heretic for not sharing their belief system, I would have the same reaction.

It's also astoundingly hypocritical to insist that people respect preferred pronouns while using such a nonsense term.

If there is a shortage of HRT, it should be prioritised for those for whom it is a replacement therapy.* *I seem to remember a furore on Twitter because reconstructive surgery for women who had had breast cancer was being prioritised over the elective double masectomies euphemistically referred to as 'top surgery'. As it should be.

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:47

@JellySaurus Good point, sorry I should have stated as sexual assault not rape, I understand they are 2 different terms

FOJN · 04/06/2022 17:47

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:32

@CupidStunt22 Yeah I don't like the phrase either, it sounds really dumb. I'm just using it distinguish the 2

Women works just fine so stop with the "cis". I am not a subset of my own sex class.

Pennox · 04/06/2022 17:48

HRT is for biological women.

Trans women take cross sex oestrogen - it's not replacing anything

slowpoke5001 · 04/06/2022 17:49

@Pennox Right, so do you have any proof of that at all without just pure speculation

Fairislefandango · 04/06/2022 17:49

*From what my trans friend has mentioned they don't think negatively of women at all, in-fact part of the reason they became trans is social, they get along better with most other women, able to talk about hobbies, interests that are typically more feminine. I remember her mentioning the worst thing she ever had to go through, even through all the abuse she has experienced was to have her own mother rejecting her and refusing to use the pronouns she identified with.

Ffffffffssssss. So glad you're weighing in on this purely on the basis of what your friend, one trans person, says.

You know it's perfectly legal and acceptable for men to like whatever hobbies they like, right? And that plenty of men get on better with women and vice versa? The fact that you call this transition 'social' shows what utter bollocks it all is. Liking crochet and dresses does not make somebody a woman. Jesus.

Belovedfool · 04/06/2022 17:49

My friend is on her last hrt patch and has no idea if or when she'll be able to get more. Without this treatment, her quality of life was unbearable, and she was suicidal. She's now deeply afraid for herself and her family, and I know there are thousands of us, just like her.
The idea that life saving medication may be diverted away from her, to those with no medical need, frankly boils my piss.

It will evaporate, immediately, any smidgen of empathy I have left for those claiming what does not belong to them. It'll be gone, completely, and I would never ever look for it.

It's inhuman.

JellySaurus · 04/06/2022 17:51

If you include sexual assault, penis-havers are still 90-something % more likely to commit it than females, and 90-something % of their victims are female. So my point still stands.
