Transwomen are really upset by HRT shortages

It makes their moods all over the place.

I mean us perimenopausal women take hrt for few other essential functions as well, but just as long as your moods are even mate.

Let's not forget who we're meant to be focused on. This me-railing is doing my bloody head in.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 20:52

Listening to all the stories makes me glad that i seem to have an understanding doctor

rang the surgery, had an appointment with a random doctor who perscribed HRT immediately

though i am supposed to be checking my blood pressure which i have NOT been doing 😳

that’s obviously the way it should be for all menopausal women

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/06/2022 20:54

You are making a category error here, woman is to transwoman as pommel horse is to horse; the word is carrying out a completely separate purpose.

This! Good analogy. Pommel horses are horses!

Belovedfool · 07/06/2022 20:56

Indeed. I'm in the process of starting HRT. First step is replacing the mirena coil. Got that on Friday and I am NOT excited about it! I'm desperate to feel better though, so I shall grin and bear it (aka cry and moan my face off but be grateful nonetheless).

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 21:15

beloved

ive not been too bad with symptoms, disturbed sleep being one nasty one…and i put that down to moving and stress about dd

and then i got really achy stiff joints…i walked like a sailor for 30/60 seconds after starting walking and i read that was a symptom!

ive had the patch/s on for a week and I don’t walk like a sailor anymore

actually my walking was probably quite jockey like 🤔

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 21:16

Fingers crossed for the coil removal 💐

Belovedfool · 07/06/2022 21:19

Oh god, the insomnia......I'd sell a kidney to sleep properly again. A full night's sleep would be bliss. A week of full night's sleeping is unimagineable....

My joints are okay except for my hands. Hip pain must be really debilitating.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 21:22

I just waddled

and i woke frequently but didn’t stay awake

there are so many different symptoms and the trouble is sometimes we put it down to other things, like stress or age or previous illnesses

I thought my thyroid was playing up…turns out my blood pressure was at stroke levels….but for months i was putting it down to the wrong thing!

Belovedfool · 07/06/2022 21:32

Holy moly , stroke levels? that's a little bit scary....
I have the fun of a knackered thyroid alongside everything else, and slightly high BP, but not like that. It's fab being female, innit?

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 21:32

Its a laugh a minute 😀

Tallisker · 07/06/2022 21:49

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman.

Menopause is definitely one of them Grin

MagnoliaTaint · 07/06/2022 22:05

Glad to hear your patches are helping Rufus. Although I'm sure your jockey swagger was done with aplomb.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/06/2022 22:18

Wait….does aplomb mean ‘whines and moans about being old and saying fuck my life on a regular basis’ ?

if so consider aplomb absolutely nailed by moi

Imagining you breaking into song there 😀

100%, Rufus.

And the bullying continues…

I think that you maybe replied to the wrong post there, or is bullying yet another word that you want to completely change the meaning of, following on from “woman” “female” “sex” “gender” and “violence”?

It’s hard to try to communicate with someone if they insist on giving new meanings to so many key pieces of the language.

SlightlyGeordieJohn · 07/06/2022 23:33

Terfydactyl · 07/06/2022 20:00

What bullying?
Making a statement that you appear young and uneducated is just that persons opinion on your writing style "tone" and language.
It's an opinion I share with John.
But it doesn't hurt you that two randoms on the internet think this. We dont know you, we should mean nothing to you, our opinion of anything or anyone doesn't matter a jot.

In the case of this poster the lack of capitalisation and punctuation suggests the age, and the educational level is implied by the apparent inability to understand the structure of a valid argument (I.e. the truth of the premises logically guarantees the truth of the conclusion.)

WarriorN · 08/06/2022 07:27

I was diagnosed with "hypermobility syndrome." 6 years ago.

I'm quite hypermobile but the key has been that the "syndrome" part has magically gone away on patches.

I've had to go up again to 75, despite having periods that are fairly monthly.

I do have hypothyroidism which I don't think helps - that's been going up and down a bit since my second child at 41 which I now think is peri related.

I seem to be needing less thyroxine so have been going a bit hyper. Which hasn't helped anything!

Yes to the sailor walk! Waking up as if I've done a round in a boxing ring when the previous day I did nothing! Only wearing soft trainers at work...

All this went on for years before hot flushes started!

Belovedfool · 08/06/2022 07:35

It's quite fascinating how hormonal fluctuations that occur naturally in the female body as we age have so many different effects on different women.
It's pretty easy to understand why we argue that women should be first treated when supplies are limited. Low mood is only part of what WE deal with. Where's the compassion for us?

WarriorN · 08/06/2022 08:19

I've never had any issues with menstrual stuff. No pain, relatively light, regular. Even when very hypo.

This has been quite a shock

And the lack of confidence that accompanied it too. I've also felt like I've some sort of ADD.

I know theres another thread somewhere about all the different things we have during peri. We are all so different but we do share one commonality, bet you can guess.
Looking back now I can see signs that were there in my early 40s, but menopause wasnt a big deal, I had next to to knowledge of it, cept for granny who had forgotten most of it and then she wouldnt have told me anyway, women didnt speak of such things <<< a generalisation obviously.
I dont think my menopause would have been diagnosed without me doing a fair bit of research first, I had none of the usual symptoms. Still dont, but we have come a very long way from those days only 5 short years ago. I am wildly happy that we do at least have options and drugs, because without them I would have had to give up work or go very part time.

Sorry for prattling on, but I just yesterday got good news that I can try a different HRT and I didnt have to jump through hoops or anything.

WarriorN · 08/06/2022 21:31

That's great :)

I have been reflecting a lot about a number of female ex colleagues who started to really struggle in their mid-late 40s and early 50s. (My area is v female heavy.)

Some went on and off long term sick, mental health or back issues. some were diagnosed with cfs, some fibromyalgia, some left. Some are still with us and can now say it was meno. And still aren't great. The others I do think were victims of peri and meno.

Technibabe59 · 10/06/2022 22:38

Absolutely agree!
