Amber Heard&Johnny Depp trial

1000 replies

Miscfeminista · 18/05/2022 19:05

I wanted to hear more thoughts from women who actually don't accuse Amber for being"a faker". I don't want to tip toe around it or argue with people over same thing over and over while they pretend they are unbiased when in fact they just support Depp.

A lot has already been said and I know you need to have diverse opinions for better conversation etc but on the other thread I am, I'm so tired of people victim blaming and chewing over stuff with little substance so I wanted to make a separate one where we can follow the rest of the trial and outcome with our comments and observations(without constantly arguing about feminist basics).

My last thought was that AH witnesses have been consistent so far and have been wondering if they pulled away from her because they didn't want the drama surrounding it(instead of actually finding her guilty, like Depp fans are suggesting).

I'm following it over Sky over ones with commentary(every day around 1-2 afternoon UK time, 9 in the morning US time I believe..trial ends next week, think someone said 27th)

All observations welcome. What stood out to you so far?

Two women a week (is there actually any evidence that is a real and credible statistic? It's quoted a lot but I've never seen anyone back it up with hard facts) is 108 women a year in a country of well over 50 million. It's bad enough but let's not pretend it's a blood bath. Something like two to three times as many men are murdered.

Careful now, your penis is showing.

You didn’t read what I said. His PR are taking advantage of the fact the world hates women.

I don’t see how any sane person can read those messages and believe he respects women.

me, neither.

Including his Ex Cunt French Extortionist wife?

yeah, i forgot about that.

*One of the outcomes of the US case will be campaigns around vexatious litigants and using the courts as a tactic of abuse.

And one of the outcomes globally will be an increased focus on strengthening the laws around social media. There is already a push around verification, anonymity, cracking down on bots, treating sites as publishers and having a zero tolerance policy on abuse.*

hope so.

I'm mostly horrified that people think a simmering ball of anger swearing and smashing up cupboards isn't abuse. It's very damaging to victims, many of whom walk on eggshells so as not to tip their abuser from that into violence.

And why on earth there is no expectation he should control that behaviour and a clear implication that's an acceptable way to behave. It isn't.

true.

i cant believe this.

Ooh. Where's leopolds gone? 🤔

AgnesNaismith · 01/06/2022 12:20

MIA or should I say MRA?

Miscfeminista · 01/06/2022 12:48

Just to say I didn’t have anything to do with Leopolds seemingly getting banned(as I don’t see any comments not sure what else could it be), I have not reported anyone on MN yet lol There are some terrible comments but compared to Reddit and YT it looks manageable

"Anyone can be disappeared 😩 "

What do you mean? I wonder if some sort of mods read these threads, have no idea how it all works. (Like do they ever get interested in what they're moderating and lurk or they just respond to reported comments or whatever)

I sincerely hope so too. The smear campaign against AH has been terrible. No one should be getting death threats.

Bollindger · 01/06/2022 17:02

Breaking
Jury has just asked for a question to be answered, they only use this question IF they think Amber did abuse Johnny.

AgnesNaismith · 01/06/2022 17:10

Where are you seeing that breaking, @Bollindger ?

You have to be reported to be deleted, i think that sometimes if alerted the mod may decide to go through the whole thread but usually its report only

its more the fact that you can’t contact anyone to say youve been banned…they just disappear

Miscfeminista · 01/06/2022 17:32

Rufus ouch. I don't remember when was the last time I got banned somewhere, must not feel nice. Then again they could just make another account I suppose, it's not like they block your IP or something?

The jury has reached a verdict - actually dreading this either way.

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/06/2022 19:03

Verdict due at 8pm (uk time)

Miscfeminista · 01/06/2022 19:06

I feel nervous too now

Total deliberation time 12 hours 45mins. It seems a decent amount of time, not too short not too long

To be fair, if I'd just been told I'd lost $650m, I might have slammed a few cupboard doors too!

I think the result is looking in favour of Amber Heard.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 01/06/2022 19:45

letitia

youd be a tad peeved definitely

Birdie746 · 01/06/2022 20:22
