Amber Heard&Johnny Depp trial

Miscfeminista · 18/05/2022 19:05

I wanted to hear more thoughts from women who actually don't accuse Amber for being"a faker". I don't want to tip toe around it or argue with people over same thing over and over while they pretend they are unbiased when in fact they just support Depp.

A lot has already been said and I know you need to have diverse opinions for better conversation etc but on the other thread I am, I'm so tired of people victim blaming and chewing over stuff with little substance so I wanted to make a separate one where we can follow the rest of the trial and outcome with our comments and observations(without constantly arguing about feminist basics).

My last thought was that AH witnesses have been consistent so far and have been wondering if they pulled away from her because they didn't want the drama surrounding it(instead of actually finding her guilty, like Depp fans are suggesting).

I'm following it over Sky over ones with commentary(every day around 1-2 afternoon UK time, 9 in the morning US time I believe..trial ends next week, think someone said 27th)

All observations welcome. What stood out to you so far?

Dr Curry is showing us an example of why women don't bother coming forward. Her mentioning of war veteran as someone she would give PTSD check or whatever is a subliminal message and confirming her experience-she worked primarily with war veterans, not with DV victims/survivors at all. Women are"feigning"and using PTSD for false allegations. According to her textbook tests, you can tell if women are lying about DV. Basically repeating male naratives-if you can't prove it, it never happened. How can she not think about what this implies and the big picture? I keep getting shocked how"apolitical"or simply anti women all these people who deal with women are. How can you go into any psych field as a woman, not taking into account the historical context of women when judging them through those psych lens?

I'm very underwhelmed by Kate Moss
Why didn't they ask if Johnny was controlling and jealous with her I wonder? 🤔

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 15:18

She would clearly deny it, which would give more fuel to the public and"prove"how oh so wonderful Johnny actually is. Even the"there was a rainstorm and I slipped down the stairs"sounds a bit weird to me but it is possible so if she says so I'll leave it at that

Exactly! She's a witness for his side so it's weird to me they didn't take the opportunity to get her to say he wasn't abusive....

LetitiaLeghorn · 25/05/2022 17:19

Kate Moss was a rebuttal witness so she can only give evidence to rebut whats been said, ie push down stairs, and not new evidence. Heard's side will have objected to her testifying as to his behaviour towards her and will have had as much removed as was helpful to Depps side as possible. Just as Depps side will have tried to keep in any helpful statements.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 17:21

Oh sorry I meant if they asked her too many questions a) AH team would proably object to it as beyond scope of trial and b) it would give more material for cross examination, where they could catch her by something she said and diminish her"positive testimony"about JD(which clearly JD team doesn't want)-also maybe KM asked herself to be very brief and appear only to clarify that for her own sake(as in to put the story to rest).

I read it first as why AH team didn't ask anything(because as said KM would just have more time to claim how wonderful JD is, which would not be to their benefit and a waste of time)

Yet Johnny was picked up on the fact he didn't tell the hospital that it was Amber who injured him, with the implication that she didn't.

If a woman had been injured by a man, she would not face those questions.

People can tell she's lying because she is lying.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 19:43

I think in todays cross of JD you can genuinely see Amber feeling defeated by him denying he even remembers that he abused her-like at the moment where he says he doesn't recall there was a phone on the wall that he used to smash next to her head. After dr Curry called her a liar and basically crazy, I can only imagine listening to him now saying as if nothing ever happened(and using her sister as a weapon against her along the way). I think even after you break up and get over your abuser, it still hits you like a brick every time to see how much you actually meant to them if they manage to outright deny everything to cover their ass. He looks like an bunched up turd in a suit at this point sitting there acting the way he does

She is a liar.

The problem is, very few people share your view. calling him a "bunched up turd" shows your bias on the situation. Amber isn't Johnny's abuser. and it's him who cant look at her, she's been doing just fine. I'm sure JD felt "defeated" in the moment that they played the recording of her taunting him over his mother.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 19:54

Yeah your reasoning is spot on so I'm going to engage(not)

I agree with this so much. It's as if everything you meant to each other was a lie. It must be awful. But I do think it goes both ways. I just don't think it affected Depp as much because he's over her but I can't help thinking that unfortunately she still harbours feelings for him.

How can two peoole who were so in love have got to this point?

It's just ironic that you talk about bias when you are so biased yourself.

You can't just not engage with people that agree and hve a hollow chamber. Well you can, but given that the people who believe Amber are so small, you won't have much.

I don't think it's that. I think he's got to the point of no return where she's completely destroyed him. He doesn't hate her, he doesn't love her, he just...doesn't.

But I agree. It's so sad.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 20:08

You just call her a liar, on a thread that was made because I got tired of people hammering the same point of her being a liar without much substance or relevance(because she wasn't 100% honest but JD even less so yet I don't go around writing that repetitevely). It's difference in opinion-I stop engaging when everything has been said and I don't want to repeat myself.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 20:10

Wow JD had a nice slip up. For a moment he sounded like on the tapes with AH when he said to lawyer"I can't please you with a yes or no answer every time". Entitlement that AH did not display after all

You could be right. In the 6 years since the divorce his name has been toxic whilst she was riding a wave. That must have been galling. And I do remember in that last meeting that was recorded, he just sounded done.

And yes, how sad. Every single witness said how much they loved each other.

KittyLeMew · 25/05/2022 20:11

The texts from Depp regarding killing, burning her and raping her corpse are all I need to take from this trial.

"she wasn't 100 honest" but she's not a liar.....make it make sense.

Because Amber hasn't been hammered by the lawyer and "hearsayed" everytime she opens her mouth. Johnny has a decent, competent lawyer. SHe doesn't.

Miscfeminista · 25/05/2022 20:14

Ok it gets even more interesting-when he refuses to answer whether he reached out to Warner Bros people to get Amber fired, he tries to say"I vetted her---"...and so you can also"whitdraw that"/ask her to not have the job? That's how I got this

"Sadly though, theyre nothing to do with anything."

From feminist analysis-it has to do with everything in this case

"she wasn't 100 honest" but she's not a liar.....make it make sense."

If you read back, there was a YT video of her weasel co star from about 10+ years ago saying she lied she stopped using cocaine at 18 because he saw her use it around age 21. So clearly she either wasn't truthful for one reason or another or did not subscribe that use to what she considered"using". It still doesn't make me want to erase everything she said as complete lies. In that case do that with JD too, as he was caught lying several times today and then seconds after shown his testimony(some of last month some earlier).

But it doesn't. The texts have come out because Amber made an original lie and that's where the circus has come from. I'm not excusing them, but they won't swing it.

She lied about her face. She lied about her make up. She lied about his finger injury. She lied about Kate Moss.

Pinkyxx · 25/05/2022 20:41

I can understand JD making hateful grotesque statements in the wake of the devastation felt in the face of sustained abuse. Anger, even extreme anger, is a natural reaction. Making statements is very different to acting upon them.

In private I expressed some heinous things regards my abuser. They were an expression of the devastation, extreme pain and utter disbelief at what was happening to me. My life had been annihilated overall night. Did I act on anything, no of course not. Was it cathartic in the face of the devastation I was facing? Yes, and an important part of my recovery. Are these statements reflective of who I am, no they are not.

I am not justifying JD's messages, they are disgusting, all I am trying to say is that I recognize that raw, desperate, unquenchable disbelief and the sense of injustice associated with it.

inkworks273 · 25/05/2022 20:54

Omg there is zero evidence she abused him. There’s plenty of evidence he abused her though. The cognitive dissonance from JD apologists is outstanding.
