'This hill we're all supposed to be dying on is mighty crowded, isn't it? And we all seem very lively, too...'

Love her!

Perfect.

Olderbadger1 · 12/03/2022 14:48

A Boudicca for our times - I'm feeling all inspired. What a total joy she is.

Blossomtoes · 12/03/2022 14:52

She’s such a star.

HRTQueen · 12/03/2022 14:53

Good on her

Labour need to be careful at the moment this maybe an argument for social media to many come election time this quote will be used against him (and so it should)

It’s not transphobic to be telling the truth

Parties don’t need to pander to young voters who tend to be more idealistic they ate the group that voted the least that won’t change

HRTQueen · 12/03/2022 14:53

They are

Not ate Shock

BluerThanRobinsEggs · 12/03/2022 14:54

Did he really say "it's the law " ala Arthur from Cabin Pressure?

CAROLYN: Qikiqtarjuaq. Q-I-K ...
ARTHUR: Mum, sorry, but you forgot the U.
CAROLYN: No, I did not. There isn’t a U. It’s Q-I-K-I ...
ARTHUR: No, Mum. There’s always a U after a Q. It’s the law. Mrs Dimont taught me that – eventually.
CAROLYN: And you are a credit to her. Nonetheless, the good people of Qikiqtarjuaq choose to spell it Q-I-K-I-Q-T ...
MARTIN: Another Q?!
CAROLYN: Yes. ... Q-T ...
ARTHUR: Q-T?! Well, I’m not gonna be the one to tell Mrs Dimont.

Lottapianos · 12/03/2022 14:54

She is sick to death of this shit and it's a joy to see. She's truly wonderful

KittyWithStripes · 12/03/2022 14:55

I am so grateful she is fighting this fight. 100% support and fangirling love forever x

HRTQueen · 12/03/2022 14:58

I’m grateful too as unfortunately she is really putting her career on the line with making such statements

That’s how ridiculous this has all become

Queenoftheashes · 12/03/2022 15:07

I don’t think her career is on the line at all, plenty of people want to buy her books.

HRTQueen · 12/03/2022 15:13

I know plenty of people want to buy her books but also plenty of younger people are boycotting her books

Her appeal is to all ages. And we know that many companies/politicians/journalists/universities have bowed down to pressure from trans rights groups

It’s really something for someone with such a high profile to speak out

NancyDrawed · 12/03/2022 15:22

I am hugely grateful to her and to all the other wonderful women who have put themselves in the firing line.

Without Maya's case, would JK Rowling have become so visible in this?
Without Keira, would there be so much scrutiny of the Tavistock?
Without Kellie Jay, would there be monthly gatherings of women openly talking to each other about this in Hyde Park?

There are many, many more women (and men) who have the courage and conviction to speak the truth.

Speaking the truth. Unlike Sir Keir, Yvette, Annalise..

What's she's doing is standing in front of women who are more vulnerable so that the arrows hit her. She's absolutely amazing and I love her.

Redshoeblueshoe · 12/03/2022 15:28

I ❤️ JKR

Livelifeinthebuslane · 12/03/2022 15:28

I know plenty of people want to buy her books but also plenty of younger people are boycotting her books

Plenty of younger people my DDs age (18) are massively impatient with the gender bollocks and people with their special pronouns. I can see the beginning of the end, and JKR will then just carry on as she did before.

itsnotdeep · 12/03/2022 15:30

The young people (and gay men) in my office loathe her. But she's in a fortunate position of being able to visibly and actively not care what they think.

In any case, I think what she's doing is brilliant.

littlbrowndog · 12/03/2022 15:32

Young people I know can’t be arsed with the gender wooo wooo

I can5 be arsed with it.

JK can’t be arsed with it

Hill I would die on as well

Exactly the same as the gay men in my office. For some reason they seem to be the really shouty angry ones calling TWAW and demanding Stonewall stays. Not many straight men express such vitriol. Meanwhile lesbians of the same age just keep quiet, don't join in with EDI events. What is it about that demographic? Just misogynists?

I don't think she's hard up for a few quid these days
WestendVBroadway · 12/03/2022 15:53

Another reason for me to dislike JK Rowling!

Pluvia · 12/03/2022 15:54

I'm a lesbian, and I can say that there's always been quite a high proportion of misogynist gay men. It's one of the little secrets of the LGB community. Lesbians have always been at the bottom of the heap, victims of homophobia and misogyny.

samsalmon · 12/03/2022 15:55

I’ve just got an image of a massively crowded hillside, with people budging up to make room for newcomers, with a very festive spirit, almost like a festival? 😁

Tiphaine · 12/03/2022 15:55

Another reason for me to adore JK Rowling!

I've heard she's gutted. Sad

Meanwhile back on planet earth, what a great article.

What, that she took Standard Grade Biology at school, and presumably passed?
