Considering the sexist, low level trash this tabloid generally spews out, how anyone can take it seriously astounds me.

If I was going to link to this story I would give the DM a wide berth. If there is an alternative article I would recommend posting a link for those of us who prefer actual journalism.

I am no fan, at all, of the daily mail, but also I remember it played a significant part of getting convictions for the murderers of Stephen Lawrence, by printing the photos of the five men and saying 'we accuse them of the murder of Stephen Lawrence, if we are wrong, sue us.'

That takes some big balls. And I guess the mail prints these stories because it does not gaf.

One of the reasons I resent all this shit is because I now have to read the mail and similar to see any reporting on these things. The Guardian won't do it. They've very recently, very reluctantly started to acknowledge that there may be two viewpoints in this "debate" but they it's still pretty one-sided there. It's an education to me on cowardice and blinkeredness, in a paper I formerly respected.

It's doublethink. And Newspeak.

It's exactly what Orwell was talking about and it isn't even satirical. That's how Sarah Silverman tried to justify trans women in women's sports. (She was actually arguing against a transwoman who was speaking out against this, of all people.) Her argument was literally that trans women are women and therefore belong in women's sports. That's what happens when you redefine a word to become useless, except for Newspeak purposes, and then think you've won the argument.

I have redefined the word five to mean four. Two plus two equals five. War is peace. Freedom is slavery.

She is small minded.

She may not understand trans women, but does that give her the right to be so completely lacking in empathy?

As someone above said, she is entitled to an opinion. As am I. I see nothing to admire in her.
