Guess what? Women hate gender neutral toilets...

Report in a couple of papers this morning...
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10536737/West-End-drama-gender-neutral-toilets-Theatregoers-blast-gross-restrooms.html
I might have gone (if the tickets hadn't been so expensive) but I shall certainly make a note to avoid this theatre in the future...

OP posts:

'there are no such thing as toilets where women have to queue next to men using urinals'

'there are no open changing rooms - changing rooms all have stalls'

'no man is going to identify as a woman just so he can win medals in women's sports'

'there aren't any men who would go to all the trouble of identifying as women just to access female spaces'

'why one EARTH would any rapist say he is a woman just to access women's prisons!?'

'no one in my constituency, NOT ONE, has EVER bought this up to me as a problem'

....... Etc.....

Rightsraptor · 23/02/2022 10:50

Total red herring but I never considered The Playhouse Theatre to be in Covent Garden. It's down near the river, so the wrong side of Strand for CG.

FemaleAndLearning · 23/02/2022 10:51

I feel like I'm being gaslighted. The article gives the location and specifically mentions women having to queue next to the urinals being used by men.

With that and the fact that some women are happy to come here and say they don't mind it wouldn't bother them I'm gobsmacked. Where has empathy gone? For women like me who was abused by my husband, for my daughter who was abused by her father. For all the rape victims, victims of sexual abuse. And that is before we mentioned disabilities and religion. Trying to shut debate down between women who have real concerns about safeguarding, privacy and dignity is just so low.

Or do people think that those women who go to the theatre could never have been abused by a man?

Helleofabore · 23/02/2022 10:52

And specifically bob, we are talking about the The Playhouse, in Covent Garden, and the specific converted men's toilets that are now gender neutral.

Not some other theatre and not the The Playhouse, in Covent Garden's female converted toilets that are now gender neutral.

You have been to all the The Playhouse, in Covent Garden converted male toilets and can assure us that this situation does not exist.

Helleofabore · 23/02/2022 10:53

Where has empathy gone?

to the menz!

DdraigGoch · 23/02/2022 10:53

@Kimilybob

So thats a no? No one knows of any toilets that have urinals that now encourage women to use also..... Youre all chasing ghosts and making up issues that dont exist.
@Kimilybob are you hard of reading? This thread is literally about the facilities at the Playhouse Theatre where the existing toilets have merely been rebadged.
Rightsraptor · 23/02/2022 10:53

Do M&S still claim every single one of their changing rooms has a lockable door? Because they don't. I saw curtained ones only last week. I wonder if Kimilybob works for M&S, by any chance?

flourescentfish · 23/02/2022 11:00

Our waitrose have made the original two single sec loos, 'gender neutral' aka there's piss and poo everywhere now. Obviously they should be cleaning them but I've never seen the female one in such a state before they got made 'neutral' You've reminded me to complain actually thanks.

Chersfrozenface · 23/02/2022 11:12

Still, look on the bright side. Perhaps some of the theatre's patrons have learned that this show isn't just a show, it's about normalising and celebrating the genderist ideology. The rebadging of the toilets comes with the territory, folks.

Now, wake up, open your eyes and see the campaigning for this ideology going on everywhere.

DdraigGoch · 23/02/2022 11:20

The lurkers must be pissing themselves at @Kimilybob.

[Putting the glass to his blind eye] "You know, Foley, I have only one eye - and I have a right to be blind sometimes... I really do not see the signal."

OvaHere · 23/02/2022 11:28

It's like Wi Spa all over again. Never happened despite all evidence to the contrary.

At some point it will shift to "those women and girls shouldn't be looking at men using urinals because it's rude to stare"

Datun · 23/02/2022 11:36

Obviously I've seen outright denial used as a tactic, over and over.

But not one quite as overt as a Newspaper reporting women having walk past men pissing in urinals and a poster going no women have to walk past men pissing in urinals.

🤣🤣

MarshmallowSwede · 23/02/2022 11:52

I don’t know any women who want to share toilets with men.

I’m happy for women who don’t mind to go ahead and share, but I very much mind.

And what’s this nonsense about no cultural reasons why men and women have separate spaces. Where in the world have women and men and in what culture have men and woman always shared toilets and been ok with this?

Disclaimer: And please don’t say Sweden or Scandinavia.. I can assure you we have always had separate toilets and no we don’t have a gender neutral society. We also have separate woman’s toilet. I want to shut down this “Scandinavia “ as the gender neautral utopia talk. We too enjoy penis free spaces in Scandinavia!

Yes we have a very equal society, but Swedish woman very much have separate toilets. We don’t take sauna with men unless you are doing that at your own home and want that with your husband. Usually sauna are single sex (in Sweden). I just want to say that before someone trots out that Sweden allows men to have their penis out all over the place and that Swedish women don’t want or have separate spaces.

I’ve seen this nonsense used as reasoning behind gender neutral toilets and no. Swedish women do not want men in our toilets and penis flopping about either!

Hi all,
As a courtesy to the OP and to keep the thread on-track, could we please suggest that everyone reads the article mentioned above before posting?
If there is a political objection to that particular site, we do understand that the relevant details have been mentioned throughout the thread.
Best,
Hope

@mammajustkilledagnat

How many fingers.
Just the one mamma just the one 😀
BigFatLiar · 23/02/2022 12:30

This was on a radio phone in yesterday and one of the things that came across was that a lot of the callers were men and they agreed it was stupid. They don't want to be standing at a urinal with women/girls wandering past, even if there were cubicles they would find it embarrassing.

Its just wokism without any sign of common sense.

LunaLights · 23/02/2022 12:31

Nope, Rufus, no fingers. Just non existent penises using urinals that aren’t there in toilets that don’t allow both sexes. So stop looking at them.

TragicMuse · 23/02/2022 12:40

A venue near me has 'gender neutral' cubicles and separate urinals.

So, men gets their own loos and women don't.

It's so shit.

Rhannion · 23/02/2022 12:46

Some on this thread clearly feel It’s the old, “ I didn’t see it so it’s not true, and if it did happen, well you shouldn’t have looked” it’s Laurie Penny and Wi Spa incident, ignorant & dangerous.

floralembroidery · 23/02/2022 12:53

Well, I have tickets for the theatre in question (bought months ago!) - tickets for Cabaret are like gold dust so no way am I giving mine up and no way the theatre will be affected by a boycott for this show as they could sell them 10 times over.

Depressing to hear I won't be able to go to the loo all night - hoping I don't have a Crohns flare up on the day. Sad

Guess it will provide an excellent opportunity for me to peak waiting women though. Smile

In every cloud etc...

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/02/2022 12:57

If there's urinals it isn't "gender neutral".

To be fully inclusive they need to offer Mens (with urinals and cubicles), womens (just cubicles), disabled (with changing facility)and mixed sex cubicles (preferably with some cubicles bigger to allow a family to use,).
Changing a sign doesn't make something inclusive. Its just virtue signalling without the virtue.

It's not surprising that men don't want this either. In the context of a theatre people often go in family groups so it's not just about strangers either. What if all of you want the loo at the same time in the interval?

I'm willing to bet quite a lot that neither my Dad nor my teen son (have previously been to the theatre with both) would want to use a urinal whilst I'm stood there in an adjacent queue. I suppose they'd opt to queue with me adding to the already massive queue of people hoping to avoid the urinals.

Hmm
DoleWhipFloat · 23/02/2022 13:34

I won’t use gender neutral toilets because I would fee embarrassed and vulnerable.

My son wont use them as he feels embarrassed.

My husband won’t use them as he says there are too many false accusations made these days and he doesn’t want to put himself in any position of vulnerability.

So everyone loses out except a very small minority.

ScholesPanda · 23/02/2022 14:44

I had to use a mixed sex toilet that was all cubicles recently and hated it. The thought of using one with urinals is frightening.
I don't want to share toilets with men.
It makes me so angry, the comfort of a few people is being put ahead of the comfort of a huge number of people who don't want this. When there is a perfectly sensible alternative of creating new, additional provision that is genuinely gender neutral for those that need or want it.
