Woman on ward - complains about male patient. Is discharged.

Going on twitter. She was in a Women’s ward (signage says ‘women’ but later this was disputed by staff).

Another patient on ward ‘Annie’ (not real name). Visitor comes in ‘Hello Fred’.

Woman patient complains that there is a male in the ward. Staff come on handed and tell her that there isn’t (and that there were no single sec wards) - and treated as if she is a troublemaker.

Woman mysteriously discharged PDQ, although not quite feeling well enough in herself.

Ahhh, another poster who only gives a shit about the victim if a) they are trans or b) have been mistaken for trans.

A klaxon must have gone off.

Surely only the terminally stupid would fail to understand this.

👏

The tweet has been deleted, can anyone tell me what it said?

If it's true, it's a shame this women has been accused of being male, as others have said it's not surprising when we constantly have to look over our shoulders, because those who are supposed to protect us don't. We have to take that burden on ourselves.

So barley and eel let me ask you this. What is the solution? Women are telling you they don't feel safe sharing with males, some males want access to female spaces, how do we sort a compromise so that both groups have their need met without clashing with the other?

I see you both on here a lot berating women and we all know what "side" your on, but could you please take a moment and answer that question so that we have at least a starting point to work on?

Rheopecticfluid · 03/02/2022 19:09

@EeeICouldRipATissue

Most of us can actually Aye, you keep telling yourself that.
I don't need to keep telling myself that. It's generally pretty easy to tell as far as I'm concerned. It's a necessary mechanism really in order for women to keep themselves safe. I also find it pretty easy to spot transmen too btw.
Tavelo · 03/02/2022 19:13

I think the solution must be to label all women who are unhappy sharing their spaces with men who 'feel' they are female as bigots and to shout them and their concerns down.

barleybadminton · 03/02/2022 19:13

I suppose I must have met tens and thousands of people in my life - we all have. I can count on the fingers of one hand - OK, possibly two hands - the number of times I've mistaken a woman for a man or vice versa.

This doesn't make sense. You can't possibly know all the times you were mistaken, unless you've asked everyone you've ever met what sex they were assigned at birth, thay's kind of the nature of making a mistake.

And if medical staff had decided this woman was trans and placed her on the men's ward and she was abused that's just fine then is it?
Tavelo · 03/02/2022 19:15

The idea of being 'assigned' q sex at birth is so odd. Firstly, you were the same sex in the womb before birth and secondly, you will still be the same sex at the end of your life when you die, no matter what you choose to wear or do at any point in between.

FFSFFSFFS · 03/02/2022 19:21

@barleybadminton - you are concerned about males being anusive on male wards? Indeed males are much more likely to be abisivr srent they than females? You can tell on the basis of sex who is more likely to be abisive can’t you? I think you are proving a lot of points you really really don’t mean to.

Rheopecticfluid · 03/02/2022 19:25

And if medical staff had decided this woman was trans and placed her on the men's ward and she was abused that's just fine then is it?

Oh your faux concern is touching.
Shame you don't extend that to women being forced to share sex segregated spaces with men.
But in answer to your concern, if birth certificates were accurate rather than altered, there would be no need to place anyone in the space of the opposite sex.
Would there.

BootsAndRoots · 03/02/2022 19:25

I would be very suspicious about this whole incident, could well be something posted by a TRA and that none of this actually happened.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 03/02/2022 19:28

are we doing 'it's really hard to tell what sex someone is'?

it isn't you know, it's dead easy to tell almost all the time

BootsAndRoots · 03/02/2022 19:30

How does assignment of sex at birth work? Does the doctor get a vagina or penis out of a box and put that on a baby?

Sex is recorded/acknowledged at birth. Sex is assigned at conception.

What is the current idea, sex is constant and you change gender or sex can be changed, but gender can't? If gender is now fixed why are people called transgender as that says you're changing gender?

EeeICouldRipATissue · 03/02/2022 19:31

A klaxon must have gone off
Heaven forbid there's TWO dissenting voices, must mean a klaxon or tag team or whatever! Hmm
Your tin foil hat's slipping.

Hasselhoffsheadband · 03/02/2022 19:33

Aye, you keep telling yourself that.

What, you reckon human beings throughout history haven't been able to tell who are the men and who are the women? 🤣

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 03/02/2022 19:33

If a male is in a female space they clearly give no shits about the feelings of the women and that, imo, is abuse. Happy to force women into mixed sex spaces against their will

EeeICouldRipATissue · 03/02/2022 19:35

What, you reckon human beings throughout history haven't been able to tell who are the men and who are the women? 🤣
Well, this woman probably thought she '' could always tell '' too and we can see what a banging job she did of that!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 03/02/2022 19:41

@RoyalCorgi

I suppose I must have met tens and thousands of people in my life - we all have. I can count on the fingers of one hand - OK, possibly two hands - the number of times I've mistaken a woman for a man or vice versa.

The fact that you occasionally see very mannish women or very feminine men is no reason whatsoever to allow men onto single-sex women's wards, or indeed any other female spaces.

Surely only the terminally stupid would fail to understand this.

I've felt confused about someone else's sex three times altogether. Then they spoke and that clarified the matter immediately. The remaining time was in a women's only space, so I made no comment, assumed I was wrong, and let them go about their day without interference.

Now I have people on here and other media telling me that male people can and will use women's spaces as they want and will ignore notices on doors, I feel rather less trusting!

Rheopecticfluid · 03/02/2022 19:43

Well, this woman probably thought she '' could always tell '' too and we can see what a banging job she did of that!

So what? No harm done. I doubt she would have mistaken a man for a woman. And it's that way round that actually matters.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 03/02/2022 19:44

And if medical staff had decided this woman was trans and placed her on the men's ward and she was abused that's just fine then is it?

So you think placing transmen in male environments endangers them?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 03/02/2022 19:45

cor, it really is astonishing that anyone ever manages to have a baby innit? dh and i drew lots for which one would get pregnant and just kept our fingers crossed that we'd correctly identified each other's sex (and our own!)
EeeICouldRipATissue · 03/02/2022 19:45

So what? No harm done
You're her, are you?
How else would you know there was no harm done to her, how she felt or what went on as she was subjected to all this '' you're a man get him off my ward type crap?!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 03/02/2022 19:48

No amount of surgery & hormones can alter the basic different skeletal structure of a man and a woman

Woman on ward - complains about male patient. Is discharged.

Rheopecticfluid · 03/02/2022 19:49

I doubt many women who give a shit about safeguarding would be that concerned if it meant keeping males out of women's spaces.

Because what's worse. Being mistaken for a man Shock Or being sexually assaulted by a man.

Choose one...

And no I'm not her. But I certainly have been her.

Rheopecticfluid · 03/02/2022 19:51

It's amazing though that you have all these protective feelz towards a woman being misgendered.

But you don't give a shiny shit about women being at risk of harm and sexual assault because men have been allowed to access their sex segregated spaces.

Why is that Eels? Are you capable of explaining your thought process here?
