Apologies as I am sure this has previously been explained by @Motorina and others, but will be be just automatically "reinstated" at the end of his suspension or does he have to apply?

If he does have to apply, I really hope the Vice articles would be considered in this process.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2021 16:52

He wishes the tweets had been seen in context?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

That would be why his barrister worked so very hard to get most ofbthem ruled out. If the tribunal had seen more and seen them in context, I think he would have been very lucky not to permanently lose his registration.

Could they realistically have included tons more content if it wasn't directly related to the complaints? Genuine question

Tick tok Harrop. Not long till you blow it again.

I honestly don't know, but it's Harrop who is banging on about context.

What did you say Oink?

RocketPanda · 01/12/2021 17:56

It's just a matter of time before he tanks his career. He's a bully who thought he could get away with it because it was only women and he likes to pretend he's the victim.

PigeonLittle · 01/12/2021 18:08

@FlyingOink

“The outcome reached is fair and proportionate in the circumstances. Ultimately, confidence in the medical profession as a whole is more important than the career of any one particular doctor. And if being suspended means that I can play my part in making sure that public confidence in the profession is maintained, then so be it.”

Surprised at this.

Speaking insight but failing to demonstrate it again and again.
FlyingOink · 01/12/2021 18:23

@BoreOfWhabylon

What did you say Oink?

I quoted from the vice article (mk2) and queried the quote's veracity. I have no idea why it was deleted.

It was explained thoroughly upthread, but the short answer is he has to apply again.

I’ve been lurking here the whole time and want to add my thanks to everyone for the clarity of information. Phenomenal work.

The only thing I’ll add is that it drives me batshit the way the adult human female billboard was interpreted by the Sky presenter and (now I see from a Times article three years ago that was in the Related Articles section underneath today’s) other media.

It did not say Woman, Women, Noun, Adult Human Female.

It said Woman, and the second word was written in the ‘how to pronounce’ fashion.

I mean it has a little horseshoe and upside down e (I know, I make myself sound like an idiot by not using the correct words, but I’m frying chicken and that needs my attention, too). Anyway, that’s not how you spell women.

It’s a minor thing, but it drives me nuts. Every time I watch the Posie v Dr Deplorable video, I seethe silently when the presenter says it.

As you were.

FlyingOink · 01/12/2021 18:23

It's all a bit random on here, is it three strikes and you're out?

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 01/12/2021 18:47

I believe that it is three strikes within a rolling six-week period.

ShagMeRiggins · 01/12/2021 18:53

@FlyingOink, the re-application process is to return to the GP register, I believe. He does seem to automatically be added back to the Performers List.

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/12/2021 19:36

I was so tempted to say that I can't believe he did the second interview.

But I can Grin
@FlyingOink, the re-application process is to return to the GP register, I believe. He does seem to automatically be added back to the Performers List.
It's confusing because there are 2 separate registers that a GP needs to be on, in order to work as a GP:

(1) The GMC register - this is what AH has just been suspended from . Once the suspension comes into effect, he cannot work as a doctor in the UK. Readmittance to the register may or may not require a formal review process, depending on what MPTS decided. I haven't seen the decision on AH, as work has been crazy this week, so I haven't been able to follow the events on Twitter.

(2) The National Performers' List of GPs. This is administered by a local performance group, which can act independently of the GMC/MPTS. It will always suspend a doctor who has been suspended from the GMC register, but it won't necessarily reinstate a doctor just because the GMC has reinstated them. It can also suspend a GP who has not been suspended by the GMC. While AH is suspended from the NPL, he cannot work as a GP, though he could work as a hospital doctor. All GPs have hospital training too, so can work in hospital, in various capacities.

Most suspensions from the NPL are due to safety concerns about the GP, and the GP will need to work closely with an appraiser and a supervisor in their practice to be readmitted to it. AH's offence is so unusual that I am not sure exactly what the process will be in his case. I would be amazed if the performance group didn't want to keep a close eye on him.

I was wondering that - how on earth is that new VICE article demonstrating insight?

Probably while wearing his 'Terf Repellent Spray' badge... 🙄

FlyingOink · 01/12/2021 20:00

Ah the three strikes question was about moderation on this board but thanks for the extra information!

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/12/2021 20:00

Yes Pthagonal I looked closely at his lanyard and his arms are placed in a way so you can't actually tell. Which tells me that he was wearing it.

Motorina · 01/12/2021 20:11

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow has it in a nutshell.

All that I can add is that the panel did not order a review, so he will be reinstated to the GMC register automatically.

BoreOfWhabylon · 01/12/2021 20:20

@FlyingOink not all deletions earn a strike - it depends what it was for. If you email MNHQ [email protected] they'll tell you

@ShagMeRiggins I too am always annoyed by that presenter clearly not understanding how dictionaries work

I think it's three strikes in a six week period. But many deletions don't get a strike. It depends upon why you have been deleted. And your deletion doesn't sound strike worthy to me. HQ will normally email you to tell you if it's a strike.
FlyingOink · 01/12/2021 21:09

Thanks Bore and Datun

Certain posters seem to get lots of deletions....
