@Yamaya

What is wrong with that.

You're all being very cruel and unnecessary. Bunch of horrible playground bullies. Grow up.

Oh dear, we aren't womaning correctly 🙄

What, apart from the fact that it’s horrendously sexist?
Helleofabore · 06/11/2021 10:52

You're all being very cruel and unnecessary.

But I am writing it while smiling AND gesturing, I read a wiki how on how to be a mean ‘girl’!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 06/11/2021 10:53

@agedmother

My fave bit is:

women aren't known for their aggression, so try to be accepting and assertive in a gentle way

“We would very much like women to not be aggressive but gently accepting that men can be women by dressing up as one and performing the list of stereotypes outlined in this article”
TeamRex · 06/11/2021 10:53

Who are we being cruel to? Who are we bullying?

We're making fun of instructions on how a man can pretend to be a woman.

PermanentTemporary · 06/11/2021 10:54

'Classy, provocative, trendy or even angelic'

Fuck off, porn soaked wannabe.

Yamaya · 06/11/2021 10:54

It's not a guide on how to be a woman, it's a guide on how to pass for a woman if you were born biologically male. There's a difference.

To whom

To whom are we all being ‘cruel and unnecessary’

Are people not allowed to critique (take the piss out of) stupid articles anymore

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 06/11/2021 10:57

I type sooooooo slowly 😀

DialSquare · 06/11/2021 10:57

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Is there a wikihow article on passing as a man? Shall we write one?

There needs to be a section on farting loudly, looking immensely pleased with oneself, saying 'OH DO EXCUSE ME' really loudly, burping and scratching the crotch area before going back to manspreading.

Unfortunately, this describes me far more than the woman one does!
YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/11/2021 10:57

No there's not. It is an article that reduces women to stereotypes that generally disadvantage women and advantage men as well as give them the horn. It totally neglects a wide variety of womanhood including forms that are less male-oriented and oppressive.

Helleofabore · 06/11/2021 10:58

Hopefully with gestures Rufus!

Keeptrudging · 06/11/2021 10:58

Read this yesterday, I'm definitely not womaning correctly. It's so incredibly regressive. Women should be gentle/passive/pretty/smell nice. Meh.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/11/2021 10:58

Oh Lordy. Are you my DP?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 06/11/2021 11:00

Our appearance isn’t always determined by our chromosomes

No, but our sex is.

Passing as a woman doesn’t just involve wearing makeup and stockings

Hmm phew. I would've failed before I even got to number 1.

The only place I have seen women doing the one foot in front of the other walk is on a catwalk.

It's all yet another load of bullshit sex role stereotypes.

Sporty, they forgot Sporty! She was the best one
DialSquare · 06/11/2021 11:01

I could be, YetAnotherSpartacus but I don't do the crotch but so that rules me out!

Fieldofgreycorn · 06/11/2021 11:02

They really don’t see women as actual people but just a collection of performances

No more so than females trying to pass as men.

www.wikihow.com/Pass-As-a-Male-(For-FTMs)

Gender often has been referred to as a performance that’s not new.

drum123 · 06/11/2021 11:03

Another for the male version - learn how to say something nasty, then explain patronisingly that you were 'only joking'.

It's a guide to how to pretend to be us.
JaneJeffer · 06/11/2021 11:03

Note the gestures and facial expressions of the women around you and try to imitate how they move.
Because that's not creepy at all.

So, every stereotype of what a woman should look and act like. For people who supposedly are women because they said so.

If you want to perpetuate sexist stereotypes, crack on. But you are on a feminist board telling women off for pointing out how much this relies on the very stereotypes that we choice to fight.

Herja · 06/11/2021 11:04

It's remarkable. I am always seen as a woman. I managed to produce 2 kids and am never short of offers, so clearly men spot my womanliness! Despite this, I think all I do from this list regularly is shower and have long hair.

As I like men who wash and love a long haired man, I'm not convinced by the inherent womanliness of these attributes either...

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/11/2021 11:04

Another for the male version - learn how to say something nasty, then explain patronisingly that you were 'only joking'

And then accuse the woman of having no sense of humour.

Although I'd love a guide to making male entitlement work for me.

Vanishun · 06/11/2021 11:05

"Envision the woman you will become. You can be classy, provocative, trendy, or even angelic."

Well ladies, here are our categories! Glad we've moved on the from Madonna/Whore complex. Oh wait.

"Women aren’t known for their aggression, so try to be accepting and assertive in a gentle way."

Holy SHIT.
