I'm curious how the OP found this article?

Do posters on here trawl through everything related to trans issues to find something/ anything to complain about?

Would you like to share your reading list setting out what we are allowed to look at?

Youre a poster on here

So im going with no…

Artichokeleaves · 07/11/2021 13:48

Oh this the whole 'if you look and get offended it's your fault for looking' and even when it's rammed up your nose you still are naughty for noticing and minding one isn't it! Grin

Wikihow is well-known for their sometimes bizarre guides and illustrations, and those are often shared online. Here is a famous one, on how to act like a certain anime character: www.wikihow-fun.com/Act-Like-Hatake-Kakashi

probably the same way I discovered exoticapoledance.com

I was looking for salsa classes 🤣

"Do posters on here trawl through everything related to trans issues to find something/ anything to complain about?"

No need to search, this sort of rubbish and its impact is all over the place these days, more's the pity.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 07/11/2021 15:23

And again, the idea that this is a niche and trivial thing to be offended by.

Do you think this article is acceptable?
Do you understand why it's offensive?
Would you tolerate such an article if it described the characteristics and appearances of any other group from the perspective of their oppressors?

If your answers are yes, no, and no then you're a misogynist and a hypocrite. If your answers are yes, no, and yes then you're a misogynist and a bigot. If your answers are yes, no, and "that's not a valid comparison" then you're a misogynist and an idiot. Looking forward to seeing which it is.

The article actually came up on my Twitter feed under 'Things you may have missed'. If I remember correctly it was in between a post where someone was displaying a rather vile sign with something along the lines of 'suck my ....' and another about a lovely professor who has been bullied out of her job for stating biological facts.

Yes it is sad that people spend their time trawling through info. I know of several so called 'activists' who seem to spend an inordinate length of time going through people's social media feeds in order to try and close them down or much worse.

As for the article itself it has, in retrospect, been very useful. My son is currently undertaking a GCSE in Media Studies and as part of the course has been looking at the changes in the perception of women in the media from the 1950's to current times. The article has led to lots of discussion which hopefully will help him with his studies. He is also taking GCSE Drama although I am not sure how useful this will be.

Vanishun · 07/11/2021 18:02

So no defences. Just "How did you even find this?"

bellinisurge · 07/11/2021 18:20

DH showers more than me. I've never flicked my hair. Sounds like 1950s woman cosplay to me.
Trans people again being poorly served by TRAs

Pthagonal · 07/11/2021 21:55

Does no-one else feel the urge to ask various questions about the articles in the Q&A sections?

  1. Are the authors on glue?
  2. Is Wikihow really sure that someone isn't taking the piss? (Hint: they are).
  3. Who thinks this is going to help any male 'pass' as a female? (Hint: they very rarely do; see hands and feet).
  4. Do you have any idea how sexist this article is?
KimikosNightmare · 07/11/2021 22:51

Actually I wrote quite a lot earlier on about the article.

"I'm curious how the OP found this article?

I'm curious how someone would come across this article. The OP is clearly not the target audience- was the OP trawling the internet for something trans related to be offended about?
ArabellaScott · 07/11/2021 23:03

She's explained how she found it.

Whitefire · 07/11/2021 23:58

My Google Chrome homepage throws up a strange variety of articles on a continual basis, my Twitter though is currently recommending a lot of Australian news, which is strange as I live in the deep pits of the north east of England.

Helleofabore · 08/11/2021 07:08

Do you not use twitter KimikoNighrmare?

All it takes is someone you follow to tweet anything or reply to anything with a link on it and you will see it. Or to go and look at who has replied to you or someone you are interested in and look at that person’s timeline. Sadly, it is how I have found trans porn or some evidnece at least of a paraphilia is a feature on some TRA profiles. Even some prominent TRAs have no shame in posting images of their spouses in submissive positions or with massive bit marks on their cheek. They are quite proud of it actually.

It is the nature of social media to discover wide and varied content that you may or may not be interested in. Hence why it is a major issue for children to be using these platforms.

Surely you understand that, rather than trying to make out whatever motivation you are ascribing to OP.

"How to Pass as a Woman."

That was the best song in the Camelot musical.

Phobiaphobic · 08/11/2021 11:40

@drum123

Is there a wikihow article on passing as a man? Shall we write one?
Yes! Let's expose this for the bullshit it is.
hamstersarse · 08/11/2021 12:53

I actually feel sorry for the young men reading this sort of utter shite believing that these things could in anyway make you a woman.

What a disaster for humanity.

Imaybeacat · 09/11/2021 07:43

Me neither.

Was too ill due to Covid.

I guess we'll have to add 'sex change' to the symptom list.

name3958 · 09/11/2021 07:55

Anything about growing a female reproductive system?

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 09/11/2021 07:58

Shit I'm not a woman. Thanks OP this is a revelation.
