Oh and yes I do agree it's a load of twaddle but it's just one article written by some numpty.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 06/11/2021 12:17

One article at a time.

They all need to be challenged.

Zebradanio · 06/11/2021 12:18

Then she thought, "Nah, tee hee, better flick my hair and put on some clean stockings."

Well having read through that lot I couldn't pass as a woman or a man, so goodness knows where that leaves me!

NecessaryScene · 06/11/2021 12:20

Here we see theory being put into practice. Result.

I love the bit about using close female friends for inspiration on how to dress. That will be jeans/joggers and fleece stinking of horse and covered in bits of hay. For summer swap fleece for scruffy t-shirt.

KimikosNightmare · 06/11/2021 12:26

@sashh

How do I type like a woman on the internet?

WTF?

That was a question- not advice and the answer was

There's no way to type like a woman. Every person is different, so just type like yourself

As to how one "types like a woman on the Internet" there are plenty of posters on this forum who are convinced they can spot "men" posting on here. I've been told several times I'm not a woman.

wincarwoo · 06/11/2021 12:28

Nobody passes for a woman anyway. All the physical features give it away. Jaw, hands, legs, chest, erm entire body really.

If you think you do it doesn't mean that everybody hasn't noticed.

Confused 😂
Whatthechicken · 06/11/2021 12:33

@MadameMonk I hope I can pass it onto my daughter with the same wry smile my mother had when she gave it to me, she said: ‘this will make you laugh’. This ideology does threaten to send us right back there though, I hope my daughter can read it and laugh.

OldCrone · 06/11/2021 12:34

@Fieldofgreycorn

Of course many people adopt masculine and feminine traits. What has that got to do with being a man or a woman? Nothing.

They are responding to the gendered world they were brought up in, same as non-tans people do. I don’t think the article says these things actually makes you a woman.

What has trying to 'pass' as the opposite sex got to do with reacting to the 'gendered world'?

If we all react to the 'gendered world', why are some people trying to 'pass' as the opposite sex and others saying that stereotypes are shit and just being themselves?

When you are walking, walk with one leg in front of the other and move your hips from side to side, but don't look exaggerated.
I just tried this tip, along with swaying the hands, and looked exactly like a man pretending to walk as a woman. But I didn't look like me, and I am a woman. Am I not woman enough? Confused

GrimDamnFanjo · 06/11/2021 12:46

But surely this article isn't needed as twaw?

QueenSue · 06/11/2021 12:46

Take a shower. Showering is the first step to looking like a woman
It's also the first step to being a man that other people want to be around.

PlanktonsComputerWife · 06/11/2021 12:48

@ChiefInspectorParker

This article advises using scented body lotion immediately after shaving one’s entire body Shock ouch!

The rest of it is codswallop as well

In fairness, some of the alleged women posting on this site could do with shaving the backs of their hairy, hairy hands. Wink

I am mystified as to where they get their ideas about women from. They can't all have been raised by men in all-male colonies, like certain apocryphal tales of Sparta.

GreyhoundG1rl · 06/11/2021 12:51

Showers Grin. Dh showers more than I do (cyclist, he showers at least twice a day), is he more of a woman than I am, I wonder?

ArabellaScott · 06/11/2021 12:53

@DukeofEarlGrey

It is well-known that women often gesture while speaking

WTAF. Thanks OP - I am laid up in bed with Covid and this has made me laugh no end Grin

To be fair, I am gesturing, at this article, even as I type.
Whatwouldscullydo · 06/11/2021 12:59

I thought it all had nothing to do with stereotypes?

I fail miserably by the look of it.

Oops

Whatsnewpussyhat · 06/11/2021 13:03

Well having read through that lot I couldn't pass as a woman or a man, so goodness knows where that leaves me!

Non binary?

It basically comes down to girls from an early age being taught that 'woman' means passive, subservient and sexually attractive/available to men.

Men can act 'like a woman' all they want but that's all it will ever be.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 06/11/2021 13:07

I'd like to applaud various posters (yamaya, fieldofgreycorn, crinkle77) for doing their level best on this thread to make women hate transwomen.

I don't know why you're doing that, but I need to give credit to you on the effort put in.

Seriously, how dare you tell other women we are not allowed to object to reductive misogynistic stereotypes because you think it's transphobic?

How dare you?

If your idea of supporting any other class of human being means me accepting my degradation, then I am always and forever on my side.

BloodinGutters · 06/11/2021 13:15

@Fieldofgreycorn

The majority of the population display/ adopt many of these gender traits and behaviours - males and females. All you’re doing is mocking transgender people.
Display/adopt.

You mean are socialised into.

Our adoption of what to display doesn’t occur in a vacuum and it’s the socialisation of these roles that harm women and keep us subjugated under patriarchy.

You appear to think it’s fine for men to appropriate womanhood and to perform the sex role stereotypes that are used to oppress women.

This is the FEMINIST board, for fighting against the stereotypes that harm us. So we can mock this performance if we fucking well want to.

Appealing to female socialisation to ‘be kind’ on a feminist board won’t work.

BloodinGutters · 06/11/2021 13:18

@emulsioned

How to pass as a woman using my method:
  1. Aged 18, actively study Kurt Cobain's dress sense. Copy.
  2. Continue for 25 years whilst still being discriminated against and modifying your behaviour on the basis of your biological sex.
  3. Have minor womaning crisis due to failure to deal with grey hair, nails, skirts, skin, make up, high heels and uncomfortable (=women's) clothes in order to meet social expectations
  4. Think fuck it and continue to dress like Kurt Cobain with additional cagoules.

Still a woman.

This has been my exact experience also.
BloodinGutters · 06/11/2021 13:23

@IntemperateSpirits

Also could that sentence read any more like a Wikipedia page for a pet breed

This. It's like whoever wrote that reductive twaddle doesn't actually see women as humans.

Delete it’s like and then it’s spot on
QueenSue · 06/11/2021 13:27

I wish the "Be sensitive" part included be sensitive to other's boundaries and don't invade women's personal space. Don't randomly touch us.
