Ermm... going by that article I don't pass and never will. Grin

Deliriumoftheendless · 06/11/2021 22:12

I don’t understand the bra swivelling thing.

But I am flat chested and wear those kid’s crop top things or vests.

I’m confused now.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 06/11/2021 22:14

No i don’t swivel either delirium

Im a 34f and apparently have arms like a chimp 😀

Confession time re Hair Flick After years of short hair, I grew out my hair during covid. One day, I found myself doing the hair flick to get the hair out of my face. So maybe it is associated with long, loose hair rather than the female sex per se. I can't image Margaret Thatcher doing one. On the other hand, maybe transwomen are really emulating male rock stars.
Same here, this whole hair pass my shoulders is a new thing and my hair annoys me when it flops in my face.

I think Maggie's hair was too shellacked to twirl. I have long hair and have had much if my life. I find it easier to deal with and fewer haircuts

Yes, let's put all the stupid stereotypes about being a woman in one concise article!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 07/11/2021 03:22

@Yusanaim

Don't kick out behind to close a door. I knew someone waiting to change gender - they had long hair and flowing skirts but when they wanted to close an open door they kicked backwards with their dainty sandal to close it. It somehow seemed something women dont' do.
I wonder if the issue was that the physical motion showcased their actual physiology and disrupted the image they were trying to create.

It's something I do but I think it's a habit I developed during my teenage years of showing off (Don't ask!) It's also something I wouldn't do if I was on my best behaviour and trying to project an illusion of sedateness.

You can be classy, provocative, trendy, or even angelic.

Yes, these are the only options open to you as a woman. FFS this reads like a 1950s how to be a good wife booklet.

AsTreesWalking · 07/11/2021 07:14

Herja yeah, weird isn't it? Although I do admit to smiling a lot as well as showering every day, but I'm a friendly person, like my Dad.

@drum123

Is there a wikihow article on passing as a man? Shall we write one?
"Start by making some simple adjustments to your appearance, such as by getting a masculine haircut, shaving, and binding. Then, work on adding more masculine elements to your wardrobe. Mannerisms can also be a giveaway, so practice things like standing tall, shaking hands, and speaking in a monotone voice"

Funnily enough there don't seem to be half as many instructions for how to dress up....

@emulsioned

How to pass as a woman using my method:
  1. Aged 18, actively study Kurt Cobain's dress sense. Copy.
  2. Continue for 25 years whilst still being discriminated against and modifying your behaviour on the basis of your biological sex.
  3. Have minor womaning crisis due to failure to deal with grey hair, nails, skirts, skin, make up, high heels and uncomfortable (=women's) clothes in order to meet social expectations
  4. Think fuck it and continue to dress like Kurt Cobain with additional cagoules.

Still a woman.

Fairly similar here 🤣🤣

I probably wear fewer dresses than Kurt did though. If I ever try wearing one I feel so ridiculous. Also get comments like "oh you do have legs" That was either FIL or MIL I think. Confused

Or “Are you Miranda, Samantha, Carrie or Charlotte?”
YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/11/2021 08:15

The highly sexualised depiction and objectification of the woman's body he was dreaming about was really disconcerting - the short fronted dress showing the legs, the accentuated waist and the tits like balloons about to explode.

joolzfromyork · 07/11/2021 08:47

@Whatisautogynophilia

Nice story ! Brings to mind this ...

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 07/11/2021 09:57

I'm actually so blessed.

I know I pass as a woman and not once have I had to shave my belly button. In fact I do know a woman who does shave her belly button and she also passes.

There is some truth in some of this. These blokes who are women are packing dangly things between their legs, which mean they stagger about, legs akimbo. NOT ladylike at all.

AngelicInnocent · 07/11/2021 09:59

Re the walking with one foot in front of the other, I was taught how to walk this way as a young teenager (yes actual classes, I had a strange upbringing) and still walk like that if I stick a pair of heels on.

It makes a woman's hips sway gently but that is because of the way our hips are. When a man tries it, they look ridiculous because they have to actually swing their hips which gives a very exaggerated effect.

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 07/11/2021 09:59

Oh @joolzfromyork thank you so much for posting that. Damn I loved him so much.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 07/11/2021 10:16

Yeah. The walking thing is the reasons I keep banging on about the Q angle and Shakira! I've been quite widely quoted from here in some really angry, and usually irrational, Twitter threads.

But, put basically, to music, the hips really don't lie!

I haven't read the full thread yet but jesus christ, as if there are multiple posters on here not only defending this article but trying to say that we are unkind for objecting to it! Just when I think TRAs can't sink any lower in my opinion the floor opens up and yep, there's another level for them to descend to. Just imagine for a second a similar article being written about any other group. Just imagine a list of deeply racist stereotyping behaviours and appearance norms required to "pass as black" being written by a group of white people in order to enable those white people to take rights and opportunities away from black people, and then other white people gathering round to tell black people off for being offended by it. Never in a million years would something like that be tolerated, but women are expected not only to tolerate it but to actively support it. Honestly, anyone defending this needs to take a serious look at their value systems and if you still can't see a problem then I'm sorry but you are just a straight up bad person.

ChristmasPlanning · 07/11/2021 11:50

My makeup free face is really offended by this ridiculous nonsense

Mine too.

The only part of my body to get shaved regularly is my head, so the rest of me’s not too impressed either.

There needs to be a section on farting loudly, looking immensely pleased with oneself, saying 'OH DO EXCUSE ME' really loudly, burping and scratching the crotch area before going back to manspreading.

This sounds a lot easier than the womanning stuff

That's a really powerful comparison you've drawn @ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings spot on. Depressing, it's it.
bordermidgebite · 07/11/2021 12:12

There is a section on being a man

It advises wearing make shoes .., useful advice given most women won't fit men's shoes and male snd female foot shapes are different

It reminds big boobed women that their back pain makes them eligible for surgery

It reminds us that men don't tend to carry a handbag or wear very colourful clothing
