Says he is “team TERF” and backs JK Rowling.

I was being facetious. I've followed his career long enough to know his schtick - the rest of post infers such. He so obviously isn't.

BraveBananaBadge · 10/10/2021 08:18

Oh, that letter RoyalCorgi! What an ode to entitlement and professional victimhood!

My eyes rolled straight out of my head. While of course they have every right to publish a critical take on Chappelle, and I totally understand if he offended people past the point of no return, this was just so, so bad. Badly written, badly argued, and in bad faith. Dread to think how smug Mx is feeling today about it.

I got to 'Dave you owe me royalties' and stopped reading. Of course he does. Every damn time.

LostButtons · 10/10/2021 18:42

I love the part Dave Chappelle talks about and compared it to Eminem winning 'black man' of the year. Although he uses slightly different language. Grin

Eucalyptustrees · 10/10/2021 19:08

That was very funny LostButtons.

Ultimately, comedy does work on thin ice and that's why it's enjoyable.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/10/2021 19:58

The ‘you owe me royalties’ thing was bonkers. As if ‘Mike Pence might be gay!’ was such a clever joke that Chapelle couldn’t possibly have thought of it independently.
It made the author come across as not very rooted in reality.

SpindleWhirl · 10/10/2021 20:16

Dave Chappelle just made me cool in a section of SM world, in the sense of not a sad old cunt but an organised Greenham t*r f warrior. Don't know quite how I feel about that tbh.

Glinner has posted about Moore, be warned though there are photos of them on there that you may wish you hadn’t seen.

somethinginoffensive · 10/10/2021 20:55

Final paragraph from Glinner

A white man who LARPs as a woman and worked on a show that was supposed to be by and about people of colour is claiming that a black comedian is oppressing him. What a time to be alive.

The photos are quite something.

IvyTwines2 · 10/10/2021 21:00

@Lea1437

Nevermind the head tilt, what about the tattoo Hmm
The tattoo Moore has below it is actually worse: a twitter user describes it as 'a trussed up woman with no head arms or legs'!
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/10/2021 21:02

Dh and I have watched the show now. It took us a while to tune into the level of irony but once we had got it we came away thinking he is very clever, very precise in his language, sophisticated in his irony and with a serious ethical purpose. Which was not what I expected at all given that he absolutely is deliberately shocking.
He is absolutely nothing like Jim Davidson and I am at a loss as to how anyone could think that.

IvyTwines2 · 10/10/2021 21:10

And as Moore is reportedly 6'5" tall and has a penchant for sleeveless tops that means whoever is sitting next to Moore on a flight, for example (as described on Moore's Twitter in August, about the spurty penis one) has the image stuck in their face for hours.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 10/10/2021 21:38

Those photos 😮

How can people see those and still not believe there are transwomen for whom it is basically a fetish riding on the coat tails of the movement?

Eucalyptustrees · 10/10/2021 22:10

@IvyTwines2

Or in a meeting at work. Horrible.

I think Moore should mind the door doesn't hit theys arse on the way out.

cruzrack · 11/10/2021 03:32

Just finished watching this and truly believe it was amazing! Love Dave Chappelle and his message. As he said, empathy goes in ALL directions!

IrishMel · 11/10/2021 04:03

I watched with my adult son and it is amazing. He points out how the trans community have had it in for him from the starts and without ruining or spoiling the show he tells of a good trans friend of his and it is moving and sad and uplifting. It is one of his best shows. I do not care if someone is trans straight gay etc but I do care if a trans person is in the women's toilets and they still have a penis. Women need our safe spaces.

NonnyMouse1337 · 11/10/2021 04:52

This is Dave Chapelle's sketch on the LGBT community from the Sticks and Stones tour.

Blessex · 11/10/2021 07:12

My favourite bit was when he said - Caitlyn Jenner winning woman of the year. That be like Eminem winning black person of the year.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WarriorNoasaurus · 11/10/2021 07:13

Honestly, go through Moore's Instagram. If you can cope. It's all there. In a relatively short space of time.

👀

Shock
Netflix urged to take down Dave Chapelle’s show after accusations of ‘anti-LGBT diatribes’
Blessex · 11/10/2021 08:06

Look the clever thing he does he bring an argument that white male supremacy has changed the rules to ‘punch down’ on black people and women. That’s quite a clever argument to have with people if they simply don’t get or care about women’s safety. It’s not the main issue but it’s another argument in our battle.

BraveBananaBadge · 11/10/2021 08:18

Yes that stood out to me too Blessex, and that was something that went straight over the heads of Brian Logan and the comic ranting in the Guardian (who was black and trans iirc). They're so busy decrying the 'anti trans'ness of it all, what he had to say about race passed them by.

Blessex · 11/10/2021 09:36

@BraveBananaBadge David fucking Lammy should watch it!!!

VladmirsPoutine · 11/10/2021 11:11

Black people and women. Ok.

Blessex · 11/10/2021 14:12

@VladmirsPoutine - have you watched it?

MarshmallowSwede · 11/10/2021 14:16

Dave Chapelle’s response:

According to @HollywoodReporter, Dave Chappelle had a lot to say regarding calls for him to be cancelled and his new Netflix stand-up special “The Closer” to be pulled. While appearing at his sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl, he didn’t hold back on how he feels about the backlash. “If this is what being cancelled is like, I love it. Fk Twitter, Fk NBC News, ABC News, all these stupid a networks. I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to you. This is real life.”
