I'm glad she's said this. It's despicable that TRA's subjected children to this in the first instance but even more so that they double down to blame the woman they targeted.

To oolon or whatever he calls himself:

Its hardly an isolated incidence is it? I could post you 50 death threats she received in a few minutes.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/07/2021 21:47

The public isn't buying it, in the main. But do keep going.

ScreamingMeMe · 19/07/2021 21:51

Why can't TRAs just accept that these things happen, and speak out against them? This sort of obfuscation makes them look like they either don't give a shit or tacitly support the abuse.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 19/07/2021 21:54

There's a reason it looks that way, and to most normal onlookers it doesn't play very well.

Because they don't give a shit and do support and condone the abuse.

The chance to threaten women is not a bug, it's a feature.

Yes, it seems like it is. Why aren't Twitter banning people that issue rape and death threats?

That reminds me, I still haven't bought Troubled Blood. I must get a copy.

Liam Fox, the Tory MP has tweeted support for JKR, Labour MPs apart from Rosie Duffield are such a let down. Agree with those asking where the vocal celebrities are, especially those celebrities who spout their feminist credentials.

All too busy telling rape gags as proof that nothing is off limits for comedy. (Particularly tiresome Christmas secular event in which one after another of these secular genii decided to assert their credentials in this way.)

On the day this happens. Aisling Bee retweets a letter from someone who says that JKR should ask her husband before expressing an opinion.

This is an insightful comment from the incredible Josephine March under the Times article.

These sorts of threats are frequent and extreme. If you google: 'JK Rowling and the transactivists, a story in tweets', you can see thousands of them.
Google terfisaslur for threats made to other people. Those making them are sometimes photographed holding weapons, sometimes in women's and girls' toilets. These sorts of threats have never been acknowledged, let alone condemned by the lobby groups purporting to speak for trans-identifying people. I hope that this post stands, or we will know that some people do not wish the truth to be told. This is not about one women - it's about a woman who stood up, knowing this would come her way, because she wanted to give a voice to other women to whom this is happening. It is meant to serve as a warning to every woman who speaks out, meant to silence us. Women, who unlike her can lose our jobs. This is misogyny, using Trans rights as its shield.

We all know that these threats aren't just a disgusting threat to the individual, they are also intended as a shot across the bows of women in general. See what happens, bitches? Now shut up.

Which is why I'm so grateful to powerful women such as JKR, and furious ones like Francis Barber. Courageously taking the flak to amplify the issue and help other women find their voice.

I read recently that a nurse in British Columbia, Canada, is being investigated by their nursing council because she was one of two people who paid for a billboard stating "I [heart] J K Rowling" as it has been deemed as being offensive to gender diverse people.

Gnnnnngggg hate it when people I like do this.
bellinisurge · 20/07/2021 09:35

The hoax thing does rather sound like something out of Donald Tr#mp's playbook.
Given that we've all just lived through that , it's rather pathetic to think that we would tolerate it just because you are tilting your head.

Tesla73 · 20/07/2021 09:41

Not sure why what i said was removed - can't see anything in those guidelines that related to what i said

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/07/2021 09:47

That was from last year, but yes, the point still stands.
